Beautiful work! And really appreciate your initial disclaimer with this project being pricey. Sometimes just sticking a crap cheap rack outside is what you need to get moving, but this was a very cool project to see come together.
Yeah thanks! I actually got that idea from the contractor doing my kitchen renovation. He asked how I was planning on keeping it down, at that point I didn’t have any idea what I was going to do. He mentioned using steel rebar pins and actually picked them up from Lowe’s for me!
Nicely done. But I can't shake the feeling that the wood that's touching the wet ground will eventually rot. I'd suggest elevating the rack a bit from the ground by securing it on concrete posts, just high enough to get some airflow under the bottom of the rack.
Been looking forward to this one! 👏 I want to do something similar for my outdoor gym (no room inside), but I would extend the uprights further to incorporate some built in shade. Very important in Arizona!
Thanks! Mine has plenty of flaws but the most important thing is that all of the joints are reinforced with steel and bolts. That’ll help keep you safe.
Nice build. Did you ever do a drop test on the spotter pipes? Cedar is one of the weaker woods and I wonder if the pipes should have some CRS rods inserted for backup strength.
That's really cool what you made. I was thinking of making one myself. I was wondering if you can eat me know how your weights and bars are doing with the outside weather.
Here in Jamaica it's way too expensive to purchase one and if I were to buy it off of Amazon custom, duties and shipping would kill me ☠️ so this is my best option to be honest
Goggles are better. Had a brake rotor flak bounce up my cheekbone into my eye. Doc had to use a triangular right-angle scalpel to get all the pieces out. Safety glasses are enough until they aren't.
What do you think about lining the insides of power racks and benches with wood? I'm not sure if you'd need to the switch out the hardware everytime but does it increase weight capacity by a big difference?
I wanna build this but there are no instructions. I need you to explain the cutting steps and matching the pieces up. The link you provided doesn't show instructions
Awesome! Yeah this video is all I have for ya. When making the video I attempted to provide as much detail as possible. Fortunately, if it’s not enough detail, there are a handful of other DIY power rack videos on UA-cam.
Appreciate it. I'll just learn the cuts by watching your video and pausing. I can get over the learning curve. I was just checking...man listen you have one of the best power racks on youtube!! Make it slightly more instructional for beginners next time. Thanks
@@KaizenDIYGym Thanks. I think the store bought pull up bar on a homemade rack makes sense if you want the different grips and I think more people should do it. It's possible but hard to diy that. I appreciate the link too.
Last year I cruised the local town junk out. Landed more than enough new pressure treated 4x4s to make a rack. Amazing what people will throw out.
So true, I’m often checking Marketplace for free wood listings.

Yeah, it’s definitely not the best option for everyone but I am happy with it!
Solid as a rock! Great idea using the pins to keep it down.

This is amazing!! As a wood nut and a powerlifter this video was a Picasso painting
Thanks so much! It cost a fortune for the cedar but it was totally worth it
Rain, sun, and snow. Yessir!
Love it!!!! ❤ Also fantastic editing and all around video production!!!!
Thank you Peej! This one took forever to edit 😅
Now I just have to convince my dad and grandfather to help me do this. Luckily, we got lots of tools between the three of us.

Honestly, I’m not too worried about it. I’ve got two other racks already and I’m curious to see how this one holds up as-is.
I love all your Kaizens love the Chanel!!!
Thank you so much!
Great idea to have the lower Deadlift off load hooks.
Thanks 👍
Training in the snow feels amazing well done 👍
Awesome, thank you!
Great! I'd put the poles for 1/3th in the ground
This was amazing. Solid. You clearly know what you're doing. Nice!
Thanks! It was a fun project!
Been looking forward to this one! 👏
I want to do something similar for my outdoor gym (no room inside), but I would extend the uprights further to incorporate some built in shade. Very important in Arizona!
I didn’t even think about that but shade would be awesome, especially in the summer!
amazing, you are very talented !
Thank you so much!
Great build! It looks awesome and very functional. I love how you were able to customize it for exactly what you need.
Thanks! Customization is my favorite part of doing DIY projects!
Amazing !
You are gold in your hands
Thank you so much!
Friggin beautiful! Makes me wanna build one too! But I doubt it will be as nice and perfect as yours!
Thanks! Mine has plenty of flaws but the most important thing is that all of the joints are reinforced with steel and bolts. That’ll help keep you safe.
Very nice work! That rack will be amazing come spring and summer time.
Thank you! I am so excited for some outdoor workouts!
This came out great!!
Thank you Mike! Wish you lived closer so you could hit up a winter workout with me
Hell yeah man. Been waiting for this!
Awesome, I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
Awesome...simply Awesome
Thank you so much! I am pretty happy with how it turned out.
Awesome job by the way!
Thank you so much!
Great work, man!
Thanks a lot!
That looks SWEET dude, but man the warping and bending to be had with that winter/summer weather cycle. Thanks for sharing!
We shall see. It’s gone through a winter and we’re about to hit summer
Nice build. Did you ever do a drop test on the spotter pipes? Cedar is one of the weaker woods and I wonder if the pipes should have some CRS rods inserted for backup strength.
I haven’t done it yet but it’s on my to-do list
What barbell you using that holds up to the weather good? Awesome build btw
That's really cool what you made. I was thinking of making one myself. I was wondering if you can eat me know how your weights and bars are doing with the outside weather.
Everything is super rusty but then I turn around and make videos of me cleaning them, so it works out.
can you make a wooden version of the bells of steel belt squat machine
That would be a fun project
whats the angle for the barbell holders?
I did 30° on those
Nice build. But no planing, no surface treatment?
Nope. I specifically used rough sawn cedar because I love how it looks. This is also an experiment to see how it holds you over time.
Here in Jamaica it's way too expensive to purchase one and if I were to buy it off of Amazon custom, duties and shipping would kill me ☠️ so this is my best option to be honest
That’s great! I’d love to see how yours turns out!
@@KaizenDIYGym I'll definitely tag you on IG so you and the community can see 😁 I just need to make a little adjustments to accommodate my height 😅
Heh, just in time for winter. Also, safety is very important. Please use safety goggles when operating high powered rotary saws!
Safety first!

Thank you for always commenting. You’re the best bro!
Nice
Thanks!
wanderfull !!
Glad you like it!

What pull up bar is that?
I bought it from Titan - titan-fitness.pxf.io/ORNWqA
@@KaizenDIYGym Thanks.

I appreciate the link too.
Any updates?
I haven’t used it much since winter hit. Gotta wait until things thaw out in the spring.
Video may or may not have given me wood
If it did, that would be totally understandable
You only needed to lay each side on their backs and support them when screwing on the pull-up bar. No need to have them standing.
Good call. I’ll remember that when I move this rack. Thanks!
Mvp
Thanks bro!
Lots of talking. Good job though
