The courier is probably the pinnacle of minimalist multirole. you can fight, explore, and run missions in it. In fact, it's probably my premiere search-and-salvage and planetary landing mission runner in my fleet, as most don't require more than 4-8 tons of cargo for some pretty respectable payouts once you get your rep up. you can do it in any other ship, but you're bringing more excess tonnage and less creature comfort on every run. It's not a smaller cobra, it's a more efficient, stronger, and comfortable cobra.
"For Queen and Country!" You forget, sir! Kings and Queens are _subordinate_ to Emperors. I believe the appropriate _Imperial_ salutation/valediction/battle cry/apology/condolence/congratulation/sneeze response/excuse/drink order is _"FOR THE EMPEROOOOOOR!",_ delivered at the top of your lungs, arms spread wide and head thrown back.
I love my Courier, it's so much fun to fly. I especially enjoy the sound the engine makes as you throttle up, it growls like an old muscle car. I'm not very good at combat, but I get into a lot of trouble with the Straylight anyway. I like taking it on espionage missions, especially, since it's quick to get in and get out and anyone unprepared would be hard pressed to catch me.
It's a shield tank. Some of the best shields in the game. I've flown one and it's almost suited for heavy combat. Only the missing 4th hard point takes it out of that category. But for medium combat it is great and for light combat it is absolutely divine.
iCourier was great for combat before RNGineers were brought in - punched well above its weight with the 3 hardpoints, plus those shields you mention :D
The Arroyo, my canyon-racer, quickly vaulted up to one of my favorite ships. The Courier has all the trappings for exploration, 45LY jump range, and boosts to 850m/s. The Courier can outrun any trouble I can conceivably get into. Just... don’t think too hard about the living conditions in something so small so far from civilization.
Great vid, thanks for taking the time to put it together (loved the opening montage!) When you asked what the courier was good for I thought you going to say courier work, as once you've got it, running courier missions on the fringe of the Empire is a great way to rank up towards the larger Gutamaya ships, and this ship is so quick at zipping in and out of an outpost it makes the whole trip that much faster. It's definitely a fun ship to fly. Will be fascinated to see your take on the Type-9, but whatever you choose next week I'll be looking forward to it.
As soon as I had rank to buy this, I went and bought it to keep grinding Empire rank for the Cutter and Clipper. It is, after all, called the Courier. What better way to grind courier missions. This is the first ship I've flown that makes me feel bad about being terrible at combat. It just begs you to submit to interdiction to turn the tables on the pirates.
Best independent ship salesman in the Galaxy. Love what you have done with this series. Reminds me very much of the presentation style of Hammond, May, and Clarkson.
This. I followed the advice of some fat nerds and spent 300m to try and buy rank... only got me to rank 7 in 3 hours. Data deliveries are just as fast and don’t delete bank
One of the first things I noticed about the Courier was that it has the same base weight as the Adder: 35 Tons. So I tend to compare it with the Adder - and there is no contest. This is an Adder on steroids, with an Eagle-like cockpit on top. Which makes me wonder what the point of the Adder is. Yes, it cost less and has no rank grind. But unless you simply do not want to grind rank at all cost, sooner or later you WILL be able to afford it. I find it kind of sad that Frontier thinks that "cost" is a balancing factor for their ships. But this is only true in the short run, not in the long run. Anyway, I still like the Courier, but tend to try and get the Eagle to work as my small size combat ship. It is more fun (to me). My wishes for future reviews: - Hauler - Adder - Eagle / Imperial Eagle Just to cover the basics. ;)
Adder exists because it will help you make the money to buy another ship It's effectively the most cheap ship that is able to do deep core mining. The other being the Cobra mk3, that costs almost 4 times the Adder. It's question of minutes in courier missions to get an Adder, fully fit it and start hauling vopals, it takes 4 times that time to buy and fit a Cobra. That's why Adder exists.
Good video. The Courier is simply amazing. It has nearly 3 times the shields that a Cobra has. It's a freaking beast of a little ship. It is an absolute joy to fly and to use in combat. Love all the Empire Rank ships. Haven't regretted grinding rank for any of them. :D
Another excellent video! Really makes me want to finish engineering my Courier, the Dragonlance, and take it out to dispense a royal imperial asswhoopin on some common pirates. Looking forwards to the next one!
I bought this ship completely emotionally. I don't care that it's pretty weak, expensive and my vulture can do its job better. I'm just disappointed that it doesn't come in Ferrari red.
If you engineer this thing then it's actually really good as a courier. Mine jumps about 48LY, and the engineered enhanced thrusters boost the ship to 871m/s. If you ever get interdicted you can just fly away before the peasants get a chance to fire at you. It's small so you can land on outposts too. Really handy for running data delivery missions.
Great video lol. I love how the icourier looks and seeing how most the ships in this game look like ugly squares, I'm going to do the rank grind and become an Imperial and get this Lexus of a ship.
You're comparing a sculpted, hand-built machine of beauty to a lexus?! Wash your mouth out!! XD One might let it pass if you compare Gutamaya to Rolls-Royce or Koenigsegg or similar ;)
The ship that made me see the game differently. From a trader simulator to an ace mercenary for hire in every sort of wars. Getting +300 M plus in a couple days (when you could stack missions ships destroyed). Good old times I used it as very short range interceptor, better used in wings. Once I got located the war I would transport the ship to an station in the system of choice Got the smallest FSD just barely enough to make an emergency jump if needed. The best mod clean high performance thrusters so I could work an Empire´s hammer under the cockpit without frying the ship. On +600 boost you decide the rules of engagement. All Hail the Empire !!.
My favorite, bursts in the nacelles and a multicannon under the chin. Also, painted red and squealing like Stitch is mandatory when boosting at your enemy.

What?? E.D. Is on Xbox? How did I.... I 'm torn now, because I'm pretty committed to NMS right now, but I will definitely keep it in mind when it goes on sale! I will keep drooling at all these ships, tho. Keep doing what you're doing, and you got another sub from me! 👍
@@KickyFut IMO, enjoy your time in NMS and when you're ready to try something new, give ED a go. The early parts of the game are much better for new pilots than they were before, but there's still a pretty significant time investment to get up to speed on things. For me, and obviously many others, it's been worth it.
With Odyssey missions often taking place on planetary surfaces, the Courier absolutely *shines* as the ship to use to do them. It can fit an SRV in case you need to drive a short distance or do some light exploration, you can equip the 3A enhanced performance thrusters to (with engineering) get it up to well over 800m/s and make mass-lock a thing of the past, and because it's small it can land at any planetary outpost...or just about anywhere outside of them if they aren't going to be happy to see you.
Just started playing a few weeks ago, friends had me join the empire and I just hit master last night. Really tempted to buy the courier after this vid
Do it, you won't regret. Best would be to buy two of these. One for travelling around (max FSD) and one for Combat. 2x Class 2 Frag-Cannons (gimbaled, w/ Incidiary-Rounds) and 1x Class 2 Multi-Cannon (gimbaled/fixed, w/ Corrosive-Shell) All can be done by Todd 'The Blaster', whom is available right from the start. With the combat-payouts these days, this is absolutly affordable and it has an overall low ensurance, so losing a fight is no big deal.
Courier is one of my favourite ships in Elite. Fave small ship. The courier can take down a Hydra single handed. Granted it may take 5 hours. It’s also a shield and Hull tank. My combat courier runs 1100 shields and 1100 armour. Impressive. My canyon racer courier has 500 shields and can still boost almost 850m/s That’s with an srv on board. This ship is no waste of time. She’s a beauty that can be purpose built for almost any role.
You can engineer this baby to have very decent shields AND be fast as hell. If you absolutely must survive and stay safe while getting places - this is the ship to go. I always have a Courier parked on the edge of a bubble. So when I'm coming back from exploration with weeks or months worth of data I dock there, change into my Courier and then go looking for a place to sell it. In that regard it's doing precisely what it's name suggest.
Just started playing again recently from the beginning, i took a self plotted route to the bottom of the bubble towards empire space. Imperial courier has been my daily and my home for the past couple of days. It’s great for taking out turrets, pirates and even other players if you’re outfitting your ship correctly. Cannot wait until I hit rank Barron for that clipper (the only reason I’m empire faction)
This is my favorite video by you, it revolutioned ED for me. I quit ED but now I am back again cos I rewatched this video. The video is so well done, the music, the visuals, the commentary, everything is 100% on point and inspires me to be an Imperial Navy pilot. Slavery isn't too bad, cos they use slaves of all races right? As long as they don't discriminate on race it's not too bad right? I am going all in with the courier or maybe the clipper, we will see!
I love the courrier. Its a tie for my favorite ship with the keelback. Although I do like running it out to Hutton Orbital with no shields and seeing how far I can degrade the paint. As for it's use, I love running it for a small load/high value smuggler. It's not efficient, but it's fun.
every time I see the ship it reminds me of Dennis Quaid ship from enemy mine just minus the top pylon but I think that's where they got the inspiration from go look it up
Ngalinn to Mainani courier missions... went from no rank to count in about 3 hours. Average 7-15 missions on each leg. 4 ly jump. Not mention making close to a million in time bonuses on each run. Pulled in about 22 million while getting the rank. Definitely helped shortened the grind
01:23 "Dorian Gray" ...just made me laugh ;-) The Courier. one very underrated. wiht G5 FSD (+Guardian FSB) and fuel scoop a ship for serious business. means travelling around the bubble for issues on different stations (if your fleet is spread around the bubble), data missions!!!, unlocking "The Dweller", pinning blue-prints, reaching shinrarta-dezhra for discounts on buying/outfiting new ships, quick small cargo bonus runs, power-play-goods to a certain extend. And most of all ...cheap...
I love going to Resource Sites and blasting away pirates and bounties while listening to Baroque Classical music. Makes me feel like an elite Imperialist Warrior
I set mine up for exploration, mat grabbing and data missions. Has 2-3 afm, srv, jumps 44-48 Lys and still boosts 850+. Its what I like to use in open play cuz gankers can't catch me. Could you do a video on the corvette or the krait mk2?
NGL the courier is more beautiful than the cutter and the clipper. I do not like how the front of the cutter and clipper look like Airliners and you like you say in your videos, they should have a command bridge in the middle!
"marginally better than the cobra" what the fuck are you smoking? its got three times the shields and is twice as maneuverable and also can boost to over 800 m/s
Probably, _the_ most satisfying ship to fly in E:D - Absolutely awesome in VR. Mind you, oblique drifting over to landing pad in space stations with Clipper or Cutter comes a close second ;)
Courier is a lethal little fighter in the right hands, I'm a fan of two thermal vent beams and a PA on mine had my pretty courier since the emperor's coronation.
I have a 0 rebuy courier (it was a reward for something I can't remember)... it is great for planetary incursions in Odyssey and jumping into places where I might die. It wont replace the Asp Explorer, Vulture, the Federal corvette or the Anti xeon Chieftain but it sure is fun to fly...
As a gank-proof pain in the a**, it's hard to beat. Absolutely love mine. 832m/s of face melting boost speed and 3 x phasing pulse to really pi** them off. My go to when outnumbered and outgunned. You can't beat em? Wind em right up.
I built a Courier with strong shields, crazy engines and stripped down everything else. I use it for surface scan missions - because anti-air can't hit you when you're moving at 800m/s!
I will be starting the grind for Imperial rank today and I'm hoping to get done with it as well. I like the Imperial ship designs, so these reviews are helpful.
Best bubble jumper/odyssey mission/settlement fighting/semi multipurpose ship in the game tbh. You can do 885 m/s while carrying an SRV bay, enough shields for bumps or what hits anyone could possibly land, missiles for fun/settlement blasting, and still jump 45-50ly per jump. Hell, you can even carry a wake scanner and limpets/cargo rack and maintain that speed and truly get a good multipurpose/material grinder ship. Amazing ship, but definitely wouldn't suggest it early game with the rank grind, and the engineering grind you need to get it to its potential.
I bought today it, along with a graphite paint job. So far engineered only the FSD, and jumping over 21 LY, in a combat build. Even fought some pirates, but damn I suck with fixed guns...
Agree, Tactical Graphite looks amazing (on all the imperial ships). My absolute favourite. With the free Arx right now, i'll be able to buy this one for my couriers at sunday :D You might consider this set-up: 2x Class 2 Frag-Cannons (gimbaled, w/ Incendiary-Rounds, high-capacity mag), 1x Class 2 Multi-Cannon fixed in the middle HP (w/ Corrosive-Shell, overcharged)
This is without a doubt my most favorite ship in the game, especially with the body kits options. Prior to Update 14, I kitted it out for PvE big ship hunting (2 cytos with kinetic engineering and multicannon with corrosive shell) and now I'm using it to hunt thargoids (2 modified shard cannons and thermal vent beam laser.) It's insanely fun to do, especially with a HOTAS. I'm not a really good pilot to begin with but that setup lets me take down Cyclopses easy enough unless I get ganked by scouts on the side. 😅 Rebuy's cheap tho, so there's that!
So with Odyssey coming out soon, I totally got one of these things in anticipation as a fast deployment ship for disembarking. With a relatively dangerous combat load (Cytoscrambles and a Corrosive multi so Cytos do actual hull damage) It can still scream into port at 750MS.
One of my absolute favorite ships to fly in VR. I've engineered mine to go about 500 m/s, and it turns on a dime. You can't kill what you can't hit; and even if you hit it, the shield is one of the strongest for its size.
I always make my intent perfectly clear when flying my Courier. "Yes, that is three plasma accelerators, and all of them *are* charged simultaneously. Please leave, or you will be made to leave."

@@shawngimnes fuck it, Imperial fighter
The courier is probably the pinnacle of minimalist multirole. you can fight, explore, and run missions in it. In fact, it's probably my premiere search-and-salvage and planetary landing mission runner in my fleet, as most don't require more than 4-8 tons of cargo for some pretty respectable payouts once you get your rep up. you can do it in any other ship, but you're bringing more excess tonnage and less creature comfort on every run. It's not a smaller cobra, it's a more efficient, stronger, and comfortable cobra.
"For Queen and Country!"
You forget, sir!
What do you expect, he's a fed... ;)
*Empress. Disgrace the name of Her Majesty again and there will be consequences.

FOR THE EMPEROR!!!!!!
But Emperors are NOTHING to a 'GOID...I mean...A GOD!!!
"If you have the means, I do suggest you pick one up."
I’d be curious of the build for that. Mine is an exploration/canyon racer/data courier.
iCourier was great for combat before RNGineers were brought in - punched well above its weight with the 3 hardpoints, plus those shields you mention :D
”Basking”, Lol. The Yamiks would like to know your location...
(joystick wanking intensifies)
The Imperial Courier, the quintessential UFO.
You forgot one other thing this beauty does pretty well......... SPEEEEEED!
Made my day dude. I had a hard day today, but your videos really let me relax and realign with my space dream.
I read this in a surfers voice... best comment ever.
Best independent ship salesman in the Galaxy. Love what you have done with this series. Reminds me very much of the presentation style of Hammond, May, and Clarkson.
Imp rank Grind via data delivery from a to b?
Ngalinn and mainani
Dont thank me just skip this stupid Grind and get that cutter...
This. I followed the advice of some fat nerds and spent 300m to try and buy rank... only got me to rank 7 in 3 hours. Data deliveries are just as fast and don’t delete bank
@@greenthunder1000 data deliveries + cash donations did it for me, since you can do 200M/h easily these days
My wishes for future reviews:
- Hauler
- Adder
- Eagle / Imperial Eagle
Just to cover the basics. ;)
Adder exists because it will help you make the money to buy another ship
It's effectively the most cheap ship that is able to do deep core mining.
Get some advanced thrusters on it and feel the speeeeeed!
I've been binging your videos. I really appreciate the style and format. Thank you
Another excellent video! Really makes me want to finish engineering my Courier, the Dragonlance, and take it out to dispense a royal imperial asswhoopin on some common pirates. Looking forwards to the next one!
Gutamaya is basically Apple
I love your videos, they look as if they were made by Gutamaya.
Great video. You articulate exactly how the ships perform in a way few have managed. Thanks again
Great video lol. I love how the icourier looks and seeing how most the ships in this game look like ugly squares, I'm going to do the rank grind and become an Imperial and get this Lexus of a ship.
If you go do mainani/ngalinn courier missions, you can get it in about 20 mins. That's how I got it.
@@simluar wow nice, thanks!
You're comparing a sculpted, hand-built machine of beauty to a lexus?! Wash your mouth out!! XD
One might let it pass if you compare Gutamaya to Rolls-Royce or Koenigsegg or similar ;)
The ship that made me see the game differently. From a trader simulator to an ace mercenary for hire in every sort of wars. Getting +300 M plus in a couple days (when you could stack missions ships destroyed). Good old times
I used it as very short range interceptor, better used in wings. Once I got located the war I would transport the ship to an station in the system of choice
Got the smallest FSD just barely enough to make an emergency jump if needed.
The best mod clean high performance thrusters so I could work an Empire´s hammer under the cockpit without frying the ship.
On +600 boost you decide the rules of engagement.
All Hail the Empire !!.
By far my favorite ship reviewer!!!!! You can hear the passion in your voice. Keep up the amazing work.
This thing is nice for bounty hunting, even without engineering.
My favorite, bursts in the nacelles and a multicannon under the chin. Also, painted red and squealing like Stitch is mandatory when boosting at your enemy.
@@diamondflaw Also cute and fluffy.
Does it deliver salvation?
Umm... Wow! I know *nothing* about Elite Dangerous, never played it. But these videos about these beautiful ships are fantastically done! As I don't have a PC, I can't play it, but I can't stop watching these videos! Good job, great work, it's like a ship version of a car show feature!
Hey! Well, you don't need to play on PC. If you have an Xbox, you can play there too. But thank you for the kind words, anyway. And I'm glad you like the videos. I hope you like what's coming up. :-)
What?? E.D.
A great little ship. I use it to do courier runs, only... I don't want to scratch the paint. Pure fun to fly.
I always come back and rewatch these. You are a very good content creator
1:42
So its the Iphone of Elite Dangerous. Got it
With Odyssey missions often taking place on planetary surfaces, the Courier absolutely *shines* as the ship to use to do them.
Finally another proper Ship reviewer! almost began doing it myself! I'd be glad if you could say some words about the Asp Scout
I love your content. Smooth voice, smooth video. Please do the Krait Phantom next!
You got it. Next Tuesday.
With the combat-payouts these days, this is absolutly affordable and it has an overall low ensurance, so losing a fight is no big deal.
this is literally the best video of all time and i've been watching it every day multiple times
Courier is one of my favourite ships in Elite. Fave small ship.
The courier can take down a Hydra single handed. Granted it may take 5 hours.
It’s also a shield and Hull tank. My combat courier runs 1100 shields and 1100 armour.
Impressive. My canyon racer courier has 500 shields and can still boost almost 850m/s
That’s with an srv on board.
This ship is no waste of time. She’s a beauty that can be purpose built for almost any role.
You're videos are getting better and better, brother... Bravo!
I can't be bothered by peasants while i stuff grapes in my mouth cruising the stars in my courier.
Hellride85 And even I, see myself above them, even on my porcelain white throne
MY MAN, this is the one I was waiting for!
It's not efficient, but it's fun.
every time I see the ship it reminds me of Dennis Quaid ship from enemy mine just minus the top pylon but I think that's where they got the inspiration from go look it up
the best part about flying imperial ships is having your wingmen call you "sir."
Hehe. It's a banana with thrusters
I love going to Resource Sites and blasting away pirates and bounties while listening to Baroque Classical music. Makes me feel like an elite Imperialist Warrior
These are awsome! I'm a huge Core Dynamics fan, Eage or Vulture would be cool.
Favorite ship for on-foot stuff. Plus, nothing better for basking, with that fighter jet canopy.
Great video and I love the synthwave music you put in your vids
Everytime he reviews a gutamaya ship he is like making a national geographic advertisement
I love my Imperial Courier Archangel as I fly it as an Alliance Pirate. There's something so fitting about it.
I set mine up for exploration, mat grabbing and data missions.
Has 2-3 afm, srv, jumps 44-48 Lys and still boosts 850+. Its what I like to use in open play cuz gankers can't catch me.
Could you do a video on the corvette or the krait mk2?
I'm not that much a fan of the bigger Imperial ships... but I like the Courier
Hey man I really like your videos keep up the work. I like listening to your videos while flying around. Keeps thing interesting and entertaining.
I just started watching your channel today and I love it I will be sharing ur vids as much and as often as I can
Thank you!
Was that first minute a car commercial? I was waiting for the company logo to pop-up.
As much as I hate rank grinding, I love it. The process makes you appreciate the product more.
Yamiks calls it the Banana X-Wing, I get the appearance. I love the Courier as a shield tank, and I'll take it over the Vulture any day
Man, the first sentence is so frickin' accurate! I can't believe it.
Love your descriptions. Highly entertaining!
This is without a doubt my most favorite ship in the game, especially with the body kits options. Prior to Update 14, I kitted it out for PvE big ship hunting (2 cytos with kinetic engineering and multicannon with corrosive shell) and now I'm using it to hunt thargoids (2 modified shard cannons and thermal vent beam laser.)
It's insanely fun to do, especially with a HOTAS.
I like the way you think
One of my absolute favorite ships to fly in VR. I've engineered mine to go about 500 m/s, and it turns on a dime. You can't kill what you can't hit; and even if you hit it, the shield is one of the strongest for its size.
MCs and a PA make this thing a vicious bounty hunter, and a prismatic shield just helps you stay in the fight longer
I always make my intent perfectly clear when flying my Courier.
"Yes, that is three plasma accelerators, and all of them *are* charged simultaneously. Please leave, or you will be made to leave."
