there is a trick to stop birds nest. I have a slx dc st and I dont even have to put my thumb over the spool. Put your brake all the way forward and set your clutch back and it never gets birds nested.
My first baitcaster was an abu Garcia from Walmart that I still use to this day. As long as you have it setup properly, you shouldn't get any bird nests. I can cast without using my thumb and I get no bird nests. I regularly clean and oil all my reels. The only bird nest I get is when I get caught on a branch when casting. And even the nastiest bird nest can be fixed on the spot as long as you have a little bit of patience.

If you specifically have a DC ( Digitally controlled) reel it's not difficult to cast without " thumbing it". But DC bait career reels are pretty expensive. The Shimano SLX DC i think I'd the cheapest around$200 but for 50 bucks more you can get the Shimano CURADO DC which ( in my personal opinion and experience) is a better all around reel. But for 99% of bait casting reels you have to set the spool brake( knob on the same side as your handle) each time you change baits. You want to hold the rod at a45 degree angle while standing and be able to click the button and have the lure slowly drop all the way to the ground without causing a birds best/back lash. Also every time you cast you have to learn to " thumb the spool" meaning when you cast it you ALWAYS keep your thumb in contact with the spool as the lure flies into the lake. It's not like the classic zebco push button, you actually have to manually control the speed that you're line is being casted at with your thumb. Watching the line go from dirty to clean is satisfying (along with the sound).
Love that sound. Makes me want to go fish immediately with mine
3 loose wraps of line? Tiny bit of thumb or mess with the cast control some more. Or get a spin caster
I love my Curado DC 150HG... It sings to me 😁
Literally
Me too
Been using my slx dc for couple of years best reel i own never had any major backlash always easy to pull out there not perfect
I got 2! No regrets at all…..
Proper set up makes a difference the DC module is only for the high speed cast the low speed still needs to be adjusted a little more.
This is actually good , you did not touch it and u did not get backlash , you did not have to even thumb it , I don’t get what your talking about at all , Shimano is the best and no one can beat em and I mean no other company
Even with those Finesse reels, you have to put something down or you gotta have your settings maculate that’s the only way that you can throw the real let the lure hit the water and it doesn’t backlash. I can do that with my Tutuila and honestly they’re taking the skill of a open face spinning rod bait casters are good. I love them but I’ve been on the water call numbers filled bags and I’ve never use the bait caster now I only use bait casters for three things top water jig and spinning blades chatter baits that’s it
Up grade the firmware to latest version. Then you be good 👍

@@FishyVibezTV 😂😂😂😂
Lews dude. With some skills...dangerous combo
You realize you can set your spool brake so it doesn’t do that🤣
Preach 🙌 brother 😂
Braid with leader, better casting less backlash
I'll take it if you don't like it for sure!
sure!
I’ll send you my address!
This low key sold me on one. Ive bever owned a baitcaster and i once teied my buddy's. He said dont worry itll be fine and i bird nested the SHIT out of it. This would definitely help me learn to use a baitcaster.
Come on now, You have to stop it before it hits the water!
Not once it is dialed in with a certain weight! But change and start over again. I have finally just dedicated mine to 1/4 jigs and nothing else!. It is great for that!
If you don’t want over spool turn up your tensioner. Don’t know what to tell you it’s a baitcaster. Magnetic braking system has nothing to do with that. That’s your spool tensioner my guy. Get a spinning rod and sell that to me for 30$
The regret is the lint left in your wallet…
rod name pls
@@adrianello92the reel is an slx dc and the rod is a googan rod just search googan and look at there rods
I have one and if you set it right to the bait or lure your using it won’t birds nest at all your just need to tighten the spool a bit and bob’s your uncle
Never had that problem after I adjusted the side magnets.
I see one of the problems the drop rate not set also the drag is far too low as well as the ball bearings are most likely set at one..
Clean itt
This is gonna be my New ringtone..!
But not Googan rod
Just bought my 3rd 151xg, just a year ago I could not use this type of reel.
These are great for learning the ropes!
Take it off the googan rod then it will work again
First time using a baitcaster?
yup
Tighten up the centrifugal brake there’s certain settings for the dcs
@@FishyVibezTV tighten up the spool tension a bit the knob in the middle on the side
@@FishyVibezTV 😂😂😂
That sound reminds me of Spanish mackerel and bass all at the same time Haha. Love the DC . have the curado in DC too...people are so SALTY before they reelize its a joke haha
