I'll be dissapointed if the guys don't cover the Titliest video on the next podcast when Rick is back off hols. For better or worse it's good material for discussion and maybe we can get some insight as to why the video has been removed.
I bought my Takomo 101t irons about a year ago now I got professionally fit for the p790s and really I got fit for the weight of the head and which shaft. And then use the specifications to order a completely custom set from Takomo. I absolutely love them. My handicap is gone from a 5.9 to a 4.0 they're incredibly forgiving. They look great! I have zero complaints. Edit: and I only paid around $500 for them.
It was a disaster. Rick was super rude to the fitter, super negative the whole time, and I’m assuming they took it down because it was a really bad look for Rick.
Rick and his little bum boy talked crap and were negative the whole way through the fitting every comment hated on them, which I am not surprised lost a lot of respect for him
I play split set 301CB/MB irons. Love them, but lost a little distance from my previous set. However, the feel is great and the workability is incredible.
I play Takomo 201s and absolutely love them. Great feel, surprisingly forgiving but still offer good feedback. Moved to these from Cobra F9s ...weren't suited to my improving game and high swing speed, had way too many low spin flyers. The 201s are very similar in spec to the Cobra King Tour irons, which I had hit a little in a big box. Much more consistent distance control, very happy with my purchase.
my best round this year i had 2 doubles and a bogie on a par 5. I had 4 birds, 3 in a row which im not sure ive done that in decades. i still felt great but i understand. last week i shot the same score with no doubles and no birds...that did feel better as i hit the ball the way i wanted and it wasnt scrambling.
I don't think you should put rick shiels on the thumbnail for a podcast which he's not involved in. Made me think, "oh he's back," and then I'm just disappointed when i click on it. Guy is well enough known on this channel, just put him on the thumbnail. Good podcast though
I've been getting back in to golf as a "new beginner" basically. I played in my back yard 3 hole course in Door County when I was 10 through 14, then played high school golf, then just stopped playing at 18. I'm 33 now and I started by getting a set of clubs and going to the driving range giving myself a goal of hitting 3 good looking straight shots with each club in a row, then playing a sim round. I put the rule upon myself that I wouldn't go out on the course until I hit a 108 on the near local course they had on the sim at the range. I posted a 121 on my first try, but on my second try, nearly broke 100 if it weren't for me hitting my 3rd quad bogey I would have been better than a 102. I've gone out four times this summer, shot a 105, 121, 116, and 108 so far and I can say that all your attitudes of "it's okay to play poorly, just keep your pace up" is the most helpful stuff to hear, I hope you guys influence as many people as possible to have similar attitudes. Looking at the 121 round I put up at my local course; a huge part of that was back to back holes where I just lost my head, and posted a 9 on one hole then on the next marked a 12 after putting it back in to the sand on my 8th shot and just conceding and picking up (It was a fairly nasty downhill putt, in my defense.) The 108 though I was playing by myself and had a bad 9th hole and started to get in to my head and adopted a "play quickly" attitude almost to kind of get it over with, then shot really well for me the back nine with that pace while thinking about less of the things I was doing poorly.
Also, mostly; my putting is the best part of my game after 15 years away from the game and coming back. It didn't take much practice at all to get my distance control back. My swing though only feels really good maybe one out twenty swings, and acceptable almost half the time.
@@MJSchaefer16 yeah but they all said they’d feel like something was missing if it wasn’t one of the big brands. If they were to put them in their own bag. Basically saying if it’s not the big guys they wouldnt even consider it for their bag.
@@bradhend to be fair though many of the lower budget for a reason, they don't hit quite as far, forgiveness is a little bit less. But then he has also praised many of them for being a tremendous value, because they're 1/3 of the price and performance is a touch behind but not THAT much behind.
@@MJSchaefer16 think you might be living in the past. Cheaper brands like Cobra, Kirkland, Vice, Wilson, etc have routinely tested as good or better than the big name brands. If you think a cheaper club is not good enough because it “doesn’t go as far” you probably shouldn’t be critiquing club brands and the marketing has worked on you. There are like 20+ factors to look at when comparing clubs like launch angle, descent angle, spin, height, etc, and total distance is probably at the bottom of that list. All of these factors are specific to the person hitting them, so while one brand might be great for one person, might be horrible for the next.
@@I_Luv_Ma_Squad Cobra isn't really a lesser name brand. But even still Rick has reviewed tons of lesser names that were just as good. Sometimes he says they're not quite as good but only slightly less and tremendous value. Sometimes he says they're every bit as good. Sometimes he says they're junk.
Despite his full review, I don't think he liked the drivers. I could tell, even on centered strikes, Rick didn't like the feel or sound. Beyond that, you are presented with a fitter who is trying to sell you ONE product. Rick has obviously tried everything, club and driver wise, and probably knew prior to the fitting that he wouldn't prefer it to others. Yet the fitter will still try to push their product on to him. Awkward situation, for everyone.
Problem is that Wilson is a sports brand not a golf brand. I think golfers want to feel they are using clubs made by a company that specialises in golf. Same problem with Nike.
I bought a sleeve of them for $12. Been hooked ever since. The $50 is a little but I dont gold that much anymore. So it doesn’t hurt my wallet as much as others.
Here's a story idea for you: Does Bryson's UA-cam channel get more views than LIV golf? Is UA-cam becoming an unofficial third league; at least in terms of drawing views?
So 3 days later after the last podcast and you're like "Rick is STILL not here....." Well fucking obviously he's still not there if you said 3 days ago he's taking a couple weeks off and he's not there 3 day later hahhahaha
I'm Martin and I'm 45. 😂 I'm either sorry for my faux masculinity or iv been tared with a bad brush. Never thought 45 year old golf martins would be a demographic I'd have to worry about hahaha.
Great podcast. Excited to watch TRUMP Turnberry video after this. Just wished Rick would have hit his normal draw at the fitting. Then we could see how the GT really worked.
Oh my - just started and Guy picked my pet hate exactly! 😂 The “Fake Blokey Bloke” clearly acting up, F-ing and Geoffing, trying to get attention. Spot on!!!!
Pet peave.. you've hit a shot off line that you know isn't good, like its heading toward water, bunker etc and your playing partner says "great shot...." shortly followed by "oh no, water.. unlucky there mate".. it wasn't unlucky, it was water bound from the clubface.
30 sec in "ricks still on vacation" turns it off immediately 😂 common guys, don't put rick on the thumbnail and then he not be in it at all. Also audio only on UA-cam should be a sin

Laying by the pool in Vegas listening to this easy chat. Really well done for keeping the podcast going while Ricks away.
Need to see that fitting video…..
I like this format, thanks keeping the pod rolling.
I have the Takomo 201s and love the look and feel. Great set of Irons for weekend warriors

Two episodes of the podcast have not been released? What's going on guys??
38:14 need Rick on the podcast to reign this chat in. No golfer is going to take a higher score if they were offered it on the 1st tee.
Wilson are huge in Baseball and Basketball in the States. I believe the ball supplier to the NBA and most college b-ball.
Wilson are excellent irons The only reason I don’t carry them is that I love my Pings!
