Thought provoking. Thank you. Appreciate the illuminated curser as well. Now I need to go over my photos and see which ones are punching me in the nose and which ones are inviting me in

Thank You for explaining the tablet. I need a new one and going to order. As always - Thank You for sharing your wonderful inspiring words. I am a Scot stuck in South Carolina because of my husbands job. I miss our way of life in Scotland.

Hi Alister, thanks very much for another thought provoking video. I particularly liked the concepts of listening to what the photograph is asking for and retaining the authenticity of the original data.
Thanks also for the reminder not to be heavy-handed in our editing but to remain sensitive to the needs of the picture. To step away and come back, as you advised, often shows me that, from being too involved with an image for too long without a break, I have indeed pumped up the volume far too much.
I would hope to be chosen for the discount on the tablet. It seems excellent and it has the potential to really streamline my processing. I might have to compete with my wife for its use, though. She has an old tablet that Wacom no longer support - another disappointing example of a company making an otherwise perfectly serviceable product obsolete!

Interesting talk, as always it's very enjoying to listen to you! I actually 70% of the times, I reduces clarity in my images, especially on woodland photos and sometimes in the skies.

Your presentations have begun to validate how I have always edited images. I often didn't understand why I was making the adjustments I felt were needed. Your premise that the RAW image speaks to us has struck a cord with me. Thank you

Thank you for another great video! I've just finished reading Creativity superpowers and your thoughts on photography and processing are real gamechangers for me. I can't recall the last time I've felt this passionate about my hobby. I study the philosophy of classic stoicism and I see a lot of connections between healthy photography and a healthy mindset in general... Strive to be a better person, become a better photographer, and vice versa:)

Outstanding Video. The "abstract" is enlightening and takes me away from the "technical" and into the creative...

A perfect video and education for processing. You cover a lot of pitfalls (that at least I stumbled upon, and sometimes still do...). Social media does almost begs us to scream, which isn't always a good thing. You can also explain things in a very calm en clear way. So thanks for sharing this and keep up with making your inspiring content!

Thank you for your eloquent explanations to your processes. They help immeasurably and have certainly had a positive impact on my ability to process my images in a more emotional way. I have been keen to purchase your dodge and burn masterclass for some time so feel now is the perfect opportunity. Take care.

Thank you! Less is often more. You're talking exactly about the editing stuff that's on my mind right now. I think it's a nice thing to adjust the photo in such a way as it requires in terms of feeling. Appreciate your explanation very much.

Always look forward to Sundays and rarely disappointed! Making global adjustments as a means of discovering what may benefit from selective adjustments can often be useful. I always aim to process by feel but overcoming that desire to make “images better” is often is a constant fight😂 Rewarding and perceptive content. Thank you. ❤️

I love this image and having been there myself, it immediately brought me back to the moment in time when I witnessed this scene. The wind in my face, the sound of the water interacting with the colorful rocks. Our photographs are "living beings" which have their own voice and they tell us where they want to go when we are ready to listen. I think of it as a ménage à trois between the landscape, the photographer and the image. Thank you for this video Alister and for raising awareness for how we have it in our hands to influence delicate equilibrium in this triangle. ❤

I always pick up something from your processing, Alister - thanks for the tip on global adjustments to suggest more localised adjustments. Love the guitars on the wall: considering where you live and how deer heads are still popular in some establishments, I have to ask what you shot them with?? 😂

Such an enlightening video on so many levels. I have been applying your feeling approach and I love it. Though I can feel the pull to want that bling. Nature is …..well natural and so be it. Confession. I do have my camera color set to vivid - It will need to be changed.

Hi Alistair. I really struggle when trying to edit my photos because I suffer from the constant need to keep nudging sliders and can spend far too long doing so and not really gaining much. Thank you for your insight as it helps to simplify my thought processes.
Also I dont have a very good tablet and have given up on using it as it just isn’t reactive enough and using a mouse to do fine editing is like trying to use crayons to do photorealistic drawings. It probably can be done but by crikey its frustrating. I would love to give a decent tablet a go as there should be nothing more intuitive than a pen on pad. Thanks again. Chris.

Hi Alister, thanks for another thought provoking video. I like the concept of feeling your processing. The chance of a new drawing tablet would i know be a huge improvement over my current Wacom Saphire from the turn of the century (2003), this is currently an expensive mouse mat! Following the dodge and burn video course i see how a good pen interface would be a big improvement. I have passed on the video to the folks in my local camera club as i know some of them would enjoy the concept.

I’m interested in what it was about the Wacom that you were not happy with and how the new tablet overcomes these issues.

The Wacom just stopped working and became very slippery in the surface as well.

Enjoyed the video and that tablet looks very tempting!! I noticed you are using a Mac.....do these tablets work with Windows also? I wouldn't want it for actual drawing but to use when editing when using the mouse for delicate masking etc is a task. Will this work with any software? I use Luminar products as well as Photoshop Elements and I would need this to work seamlessly with any program that I choose to edit with. Have you had any issues with using this for editing or software not responding to this kind of input?

    • @Alister_Benn
      @Alister_Benn  2 роки тому +1

I absolutely only use it for photo editing. They call it a drawing tablet. I’d imagine it works flawlessly with windows. Reach out to their help on the website and they’ll answer all your queries. I’d imagine it will work with most major software

I found an element of confusion in this video Alister. On the one hand you suggested that the raw image is telling us what the landscape wants to tell us, but on the other hand you - and I believe quite rightly - indicate that the raw image is not in fact an accurate representation of the landscape. It is the particular camera's representation of the image, and in most cases has already been internally edited. If you have a moment I would appreciate your thoughts on this point. Thanks.
