    I always was told you look one apex ahead. You spot it and start looking for the next one while you are hitting the current one?

      Yeah, he's exaggerating and missing so many things. Like how Hulkenberg is actually looking at the green button shortly before he presses it between 4:55 and 4:56. Very briefly but he still does.

I'm sure all viewers of this video isn't just some everyday uncoordinated fan.

    ''F1 driver only need 100ms to identify objects in mirror vs normal driver needs 500ms''
    I just got to say that its two very different things because streets are much more complex and can contain 100s of different objects while a racetrack is very minimalistic and the only thing you need to identify is other cars, not bicycles, animals or people.

    • @SaqrBahili-sj6sg
      @SaqrBahili-sj6sg 10 місяців тому

      exactly!! if you try to look within 100ms you won't be able to have a full visualization of whats's available since its just not only about knowing if there is something or not + what is the issue with spending 500ms to get a more complete look of things( i bet he does that when he drives) so thats not an element of comparison its not a valid point. Myself, i've never seen anybody who can visualize and have situational awareness on the road like i do + i left foot brake very precisely.

      Don't worry, you probably have a good spatial inteligence, its just not trained to F1 because you don't practice it. Some people will always be better at somethings and that is why only a few are F1 drivers, but to say things that they have a "super sense" and that "mere mortals like us could never do" is just total sensationalist bullshit that this kind of videos ALWAYS bring up, thats just not how neuroscience works.

  • @SaadKidwai

    We live in an amazing time, where gamers born in the 80's and 90's are now in their 20-30's and have been playing simulation games for over a decade. And they know they have much better hand eye coordination, faster reaction times and quicker processing of data than non gamers. And the ability to track multiple targets at once, react to their peripheral vision, we know what we can do. Not a single gamer watching this didn't know exactly what F1 drivers focus and look for, not to mention the massive amounts of information Ted didn't cover.

    • @Wobogy
      @Wobogy 7 років тому

      I'm sure rally drivers do mostly the same as what f1 drivers do. When it comes to looking around I'd expect F1 to be more cautious of other vehicles nearby than rally drivers just because it's open wheel.

    • @klauskarlkraus
      @klauskarlkraus 7 років тому

      Wobogy well racing through a forest with 170km/h on gravel on a road that is just as wide as your car not absolutely knowing where to go is quiet different I think

    • @N75911_
      @N75911_ 7 років тому +3

      Rally is a whole different ballpark. F1 is about top speed and maximizing grip. While Rally is about consistency and quick decision making in a hostile environment.

    • @Wobogy
      @Wobogy 7 років тому

      True. It would make sense for them to watch the terrain much more since F1 drivers can usually count on the terrain being perfect or otherwise marked by bright borders that peripheral vision can pick up easily. But whatever you race with you typically watch the apex for most of the turn even on a narrow road. As soon as the co-driver reads it out I bet that's exactly where their eyes go. They also probably don't look much at their instruments and just have a running count of what gear they're in.
