    Thanks for this David.
    My final concept skate would run on trucks raised by 4mm and widend by 5mm to take a 72mm wheel of this design. I belive this would up the velocity without a loss of stabilty and close some the gap in speed between inlines and quads.

      I would really love to try some of these mods on my own skates. Do you have a way to share any of the specs you wrote down while designing and creating these so I could use them as reference? Like some of the measurements and the tools used? I have a whole machine shop full of equipment at my disposal. Let me know what you think. Thanks

    Thanks for this video! Interesting about the boot shape being effected by the front bolts. For someone looking to build this, a skateboard truck riser might work (will need to be shaped to the boot) for the wedge in the front (between boot and plate). Hope someone from the industry is watching this!

    It’s very common around me to have that front wedge/shim to preserve the skate shape, my daughter has a set of edea wave boots mounted to roll-line variant plates with the shim upfront, several teammates are running the same setup.

    • @DeezSkates
      @DeezSkates  11 місяців тому

      That’s an artistic skate though. Not common with this type of setup. Manufactures who make these just mount the front completely flat.

    I'm a new skater and I've been rolling for more than 2 weeks now and I can do most of the tricks like the sprint at the first of the race, L/T break, turns, 2 wheels (all of them front and back and both) and couple days ago i learnt back. it was hard to learn back but I attempted to do it. I like to street skate but the roads are bad and the good roads are away of my house. I'm from Egypt and its hard to find good streets in my whole city. my questions are:
    1- am I good enough to street skate?
    2- what should I learn that would help?
    3- how to instant break even if it will throw me away from where am I (to prevent crashes).
    4- is there a frame that accepts 3 wheels and 4 wheels at the same time? like its designed for that.
    Appreciate your time!

    I'm a hockey guy (my only skates are Tour Code 2s), so I like the looks of these. If I were to get on quads for the 1st time in my adult life, something like these would be it. On a completely unrelated note, what good quality quads would you recommend for a teenage girl? She's 14, skated inline since she was a little kid and recently told me she'd like to try quads. Thinking about getting her a pair this fall for her b-day. General purpose rec skates, mostly for outdoor use.

      Hey Joe! I guess it depends what kind of skating she wants to do! If she is interested in Jam skating maybe a pair of Vanilla Jrs. Or if rhythm skating a pair of Moxis. I’d recommend getting some more input first. Lots of expert opinions to be had at the Facebook group “Rollerskating World Wide”.

  • @uu3903
    @uu3903 Рік тому

    I've seen quad wheels with center grooves but not quite as pronounced as your customs. Have you considered trying some skateboard or inline wheels? I'm just a beginner so probably can't provide the insight someone like you could. I already have some skateboard and inline wheels ready for testing once I finish mounting my quads. Skateboard wheels might be nice for dancing as you can get them quite small, hard, and both edges rounded with a ~2cm flat contact patch. Inline wheels with bullet profile probably beat anything for rolling over stones and debris, but catching an edge might be terrifying.

    In order to preserve the shape of the boot you have to use plates that have the front curve to preserve the shape, for instance Rio Roller plates do this. As for the heel you can make your own with a custom height by cutting off a heel off a cheap pair of roller skates and twaeking the weight not exactly what you want it to be.

    I am building a similar setup right now and will be adding a variant plate, though it is my regular shortish size. I custom made a slightly slanted heel, taking inspiration from some European quad hockey boots i have. Will also add an edea wedge, which isn't as high as the wedge on yours but with the custom shaped heel, should be just right.
    I also already have the roll line outdoor wheels which I love. Interesting about the shaving the top surface and the central channel. I might be brave and give that a go ☺

      @Lisa-in-this-world Рік тому

      @@flambzabuza3933 it did work well and I def think the heel is needed but I have since disassembled them. The boots were pretty old, the padding virtually non existant and even though I tried to heat mold them to make the fit better it just wasn't working with my feet. With better boots it might have been fine.
      I can see the appeal if you want a really tough pair of outdoor skates.

    No disrespect because I'm sure you are completely unaware but "Simon Burgess" is NOT the originator of the ice hockey conversions boot.
    It is well documented in the skate community that it was designed & invented by a guy called "Ash Fahrenheit" & you can read all about the orgins in Amazon book series "The Evolution Of skating".
    It was racism & the inability to be able to compete as a Black ice hockey player which caused him & his team to convert these skates in 1989.
    But I'm sure "Simon" IS responsible for the skates he sent you.
    Just thought I would help with the fact checking in case anybody watching this video was not fully informed.
    Let's not white wash Black history achievements please.
    ✌🏽

    • @DeezSkates
      @DeezSkates  Рік тому

      Not sure if you watched the whole thing, but just in case, I’ll reiterate that Simon only took a design that already existed and made his own changes to it. I clearly stated this in the video. I even showed examples of other hockey conversions that you can buy from retailers.. I’m not sure where you got that I implied that he invented or originated this design..

    • @DeezSkates
      @DeezSkates  Рік тому

      To be clear, I appreciate you sharing facts about history of roller skating. I am aware and fully acknowledge the massive impact that the black community has had and still has within roller skating. I only want to clarify that I did not say, nor did I imply that the person who sent me this skate invented the hockey conversion skate. Nor did he ever at any point claim to me that he did. He very clearly told me that this skate is popular where he lives in the UK and he only wished to build his own pair that had specific features he could not find in conversion skates from shops or retailers.

    • @DeezSkates
      @DeezSkates  Рік тому

      I will at some point discuss this. If you go back in my video log I have a History of Roller Skating video that covers the invention of the first skates, up until the very early 1900s. I’ve intended to make a part two of this and have not had the time, but I mentioned in that video that the time period that part two would take place is after the early 1900s. Which means that we will definitely be covering what you are talking about here.

      @@DeezSkates Great.. I look forward to watching in the future.🙏🏾
      I just thought it would have been useful to acknowledge or at least find out the orgins of how the skate platform had even come to pass.
      Especially considering you take a keen interest in the history of skates.
      But at least you now know where to find this information so you can also share with your audience.
      Maybe even reach out to him so we can all know more & if Bauer are working with him?

    • @simonburgess5968

      I never said I was the originator of the convert skate. However I've maxed out this concept with a number of alterations that you won't find anywhere else. I have been making theas skates since 1995 in that time I recon I've almost perfected it with my alterations.
