You rock sir. I remember being a kid. Dad loved Dire Straits and he would wake us all up on sundays playing "Making movies" I used to get so worked up!. He died in 2010 of cancer. I still love Dire Straits and Knopfler. Now days me and my wife use your songs as Karaoke. those times I still get worked up, think about dad and think of the old days. thanks dude.
I had looked forward to 'Making Movies' coming out and initially the stand out track was 'Romeo and Juliet' but oh man after a couple of listens 'The Tunnel of Love' just blew me away. The imagery of the verses actually put me in a fairground and then the solo at the end, oh yeah...the solo at the end, starting so slowly and gradually building and climbing, almost unbearably understated, melodic and sweet, .......tempo gradually increasing and backing in full swing. Speeding now excitedly toward some uncertain horizon , every glassy fender toned note sweetly overwhelming the senses. And finally the top, the crescendo, the glorious summit is reached so so briefly before being followed by the tumble back down again Knopflers guitar mixed with piano to gradual fade. I would be left with my heart pumping and eyes wide like i'd had an amazing experience. I had to listen to that song 100 times in the first couple of days after i bought it just to try and take in what to me was the closest thing to musical perfection. I had to listen to it again...again and again to try and understand why it made me feel this way. And still, today, some 30-odd years later it can still move me almost to tears as the solo resolves itself at the very top of that wonderful glorious crescendo. So glad you put this up man. I've been playing bits of this i've learned over the years and now thanks to you filming yourself playing it it i can actually replicate something similar. Priceless.
Being from the town (Whitley Bay) where the Spanish City was, this song is held up as an anthem to us! its amazing that people without that connection feel its impact just as much as we do
Only one word for it....sublime. Could listen to your covers repeatedly and never tire of them. Love the tributes. MK would be suitably impressed i'm sure.
66 people disliked this. That is 66 people with their heads up their asses. This guy plays 4 different instruments. That is raw, natutal talent. No amount of practice could make you this good.
Fantastic playing !! the single versions of this and sultans are tight. I lurrrve the extended live versions from Alchemy & Sydney 86 concerts. Mark mixes it up so much that you get ideas to play around with when jamming with the singles.
Tunnel of love is my all time favourite of dire straits, this version is simply fantastic , well done to whoever done this ,I'm just waiting on the ending now.
wow man...i am simply amazed at your spot on playing...this is by far my favorite MK DS song. i never thought i would enjoy anyone else playing besides the master himself however, you sir are a very close second ! excellent playing and well done!
When listening to the original with MK which I like I have just taken everything for granted. But when watching your playing I realize what a masterpiece the lead guitar is even during the verses. Great playing.
Amazing, truly amazing Dude!!! I am a fan of Mark since ever and I rarely found covers better than yours... this one, in particular. Precise, clean... top notch!!!
I'm impressed Bravo! It's hard to play and you have done the whole rendition. I enjoyed it and i know how hard it can be to play. I don't know about you but i find it to be one of those pieces that if your playing from memory, can start repeating phrases in the solos that have already been played, i'm sure you can understand what i mean? It's easier with the Tab. Great stuff though i wish i had the patients and probably skill to do something like this.
That was just fantastic! Congratulations and thank you! I even got to sing along your video "Mark"-like. In case of... If you want to see what it could do, just tell me. ;)
almost perfect sound good work, miss on a few bends here and there, but all through, it was pretty solid. Thanks for sharing the tribute and your work making this song come together in your studio.
This is brilliant! all of your tribute videos are great. I was wondering if you had considered a tutorial for Tunnel of Love similar to the Telegraph Road one you've done? That one is So useful to us mortals that are trying to learn to play MK like you do. Cheers

Well done! Knopfler is probably one of the most melodic guitarists of all time!

axnax1 you summed that up very well! Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Very impressive 👏👏
Haven't had the words for my emotions when I listened to this song. You described it pretty well - up to that almost painful beauty of the final solo.
Being from the town (Whitley Bay) where the Spanish City was, this song is held up as an anthem to us! its amazing that people without that connection feel its impact just as much as we do
