      @@ladyaceina Ah yes.. I don't think I added it because of its ambiguity and seemingly random insert. I'll still pin the comment so people know, I just saw it as an extra dungeon and maybe missed the part where it's the true ending? Cos it falls pretty flat when you do finish it - as in no unique CGI cutscene, just Aya leaves, the end, nothing special xD

    I love your mocking attitude towards some of the more bullshit aspects. You're hilarious while also being very informative. This game was so confusing back when I first played it, but you actually make it understandable.

    The fact that you used OST from one of my other all time favourite games during video of my favourite PSX game (Parasite Eve 1) is a huge pleasant surprise to put it mildly! I have never heard NFS 3 techno OST used anywhere!

    Amazing video!
    My last playthrough of Parasite Eve is a while back, so this was a nice refresher on the plot of the games (The 3rd Birthday was even further back as I never bothered to replay it). It was also my first time of hearing about the plot of the novel/movie, so this was great to see. I love how you weaved the scenes of the movie into the discussion of the plot of the novel. You did a great job of explaining the plot, so that even somebody who has never played the games could easily understand what was going on.
    As a Chemistry major who later graduated university in computer science, I absolutely hated my Biology classes, naturally sucked at them and were it not for the meme "The Mitochondria is the power house of the cell" I probably wouldn't even have remembered that part either. Even so, I myself found the idea of the plot to be pretty cool, hence why I enjoy the series as much as I did (at least the first two games). Watching your video I realized how much actual science was behind the plot, so you managed to gave me a newly found appreciation for the games, even though some of it turned out to be a bit of a stretch (but sometimes you have to do that for the sake of story). I also appreciated your theory on why the SWAT team showed up at the wedding as that was probably one of my biggest gripes about The 3rd Birthday. Great stuff all around, although I wished you would've gone a bit more in depth on your personal opinion on the games. Furthermore, you should've mentioned what a banger of a soundtrack the games have!
    Looking forward to see what's coming next! If you're taking recommendations, I would like to pitch one of my favorite game series: Trauma Center. Like Parasite Eve, there is plenty of symbolism to be found, and a surprisingly deep plot. Currently there is five games in the series, with one of them being a remake of the first game and another a spin-off title set in the same universe, but unrelated to the plot of the other games. In any case, I'm excited to see what's coming next!

      Thank you for such kind words and a massive post 8'D My personal opinion of 3rd Birthday was fairly clear, did not like it haha I sort of summed up my opinions in the conclusion, but it was really short xD;
      I would have never guessed in a million years someone would suggest Trauma Centre... I've only played one of them but I do remember enjoying it. I'll definitely put it on my list! :D

    I struck gold finding this! I been thinking of using a lot of PE elements as inspiration for my DnD campaign and this is exactly what I needed! I am definitely subscribing.
    Not sure if you stick to just video games to break em down, but very similar creepy themes I'd love your break down style of the manga plot of Elfen Lied and the entire "Diclonius" phenomena within that story.

    Very informative! See, I knew there was a movie (but didn't know if it actually tied in or not), beat the first game, watched a playthrough of the second game, and nope'd out of the third one as soon as I heard them butcher the opening theme of the first game... but I didn't know that the novel was the origin of the series, or that a manga was made
    That and it helped me learn the plot of the third game... and makes me glad I skipped out on it X'D
    Though I want to mention one thing you missed plot-wise for the first game (unless, of course, you DID bring it up and I ended up missing it somehow haha). When you were discussing the book plot, you mentioned Eve child's form changing to a male, implying the male and female mitochondria are at war or something. I'll copy/paste the info on that from a wiki:
    "Because the sperm Eve obtained from Dr. Nagashima had a line of male mitochondria that will be extinct if Eve's mitochondrial strain becomes dominant, a rebellion takes place within the ultimate being's body causing it to switch between male and female.
    Eventually, Dr. Nagashima comforts the creature and tells that it can have as many offspring as it or she wants, but she will never reproduce her father. He then embraces the creature as it dies to avoid the energy unleashed from killing any more people.
    In the film adaptation of the novel, the Ultimate Being is never born."
    To go back to the game plot, Maeda says the following:
    "Recently, it appears he was conducting research on artificial sperm... for Eve, of course. He wanted to exclude the mitochondria from the sperm and create new sperm... Sperm with no parasites... Sperm with only the nucleus..."
    and
    "He took the sperm that he created here and moved it to the hospital... There, he would artificially inseminate those who would volunteer for the experiment."
    Which was what the HLA sheet was for, apparently.
    So essentially they're saying that the only reason the Ultimate Being was successfully born in the game is because the sperm she used had no mitochondria to combat her own due to being artificially created... somehow. Idk, it's still weird, and I use the term "successful" loosely because you still destroy it in the end, kinda making it not so Ultimate X'D
    ANYWAY, that aside, the video is still great, and I love the jabs you made at stuff, including a few I've made on the first game XD

    • @MyraSlokov
      @MyraSlokov  2 роки тому +2

      Damn I love your dedication to this comment. I did miss that whole sperm thing from the book, thank you! You start to go insane when you research things to the bone heheh

    • @valeriaabsinthe
      @valeriaabsinthe 2 роки тому +2

      @@MyraSlokov I can imagine haha
      It's all good though, the series ends up forgetting about that kind of shit after the first game anyway, so whatever XD
      Though I DID forget to include one other thing from the first game in my initial comment:
      After beating the game, you get EX Mode, which does nothing super different aside from starting you off immediately with the armor and gun you rename in the first playthrough of the game. It also gives you access to the Chrysler Building, which is a 77 level maze of monster battles, where the enemies are tougher than in the base game, and every 10 floors is a boss battle with a checkpoint for each boss you defeat. There is also a shitload of items to find in the various dead ends and such. Oh, and it randomly generates on each new file, so there's no real ability to find a map to follow as far as I'm aware.
      Apparently at the end you fight Eve and experience the true ending to the game, but I don't actually know what said true ending is... I may have to try looking it up or something, cuz I don't see myself ever earning it on my own file haha
