- How To: Change and Inspect Spark Plugs - Harley Davidson Sportster...The task that every Harley Davidson Sportster owner will one day face. Thankfully it's super easy! But just assuming everything is good to go when changing the spark and not inspecting it. Well that could lead to a much bigger problem or catch a problem before it shows it's face on the side of the road!

Awesome by the book maintenance. Can’t get any better.👍🏻
Couldn't agree more!
After setting out to change plugs i ended up building an entirely new bike. One thing led to another you know
Mr. How To does it again! Good video Jay. Helping people learn is good stuff!
I appreciate that man! Some of these I post I wonder if 10 years down the road will someone still be using these videos lol. Thanks for the support my friend!
@@freebirdsgarage man these videos are timeless! How to videos are the bread and butter of UA-cam University!
A few more things:1. never change with hot engine (it's about the thread: cylinder-head-material is weaker than steel-plug). 2. Clean surface first (avoid Sand, Rocks or Bolts falling in cylinder-head).
3. Colour of plugs depend with type of fuel: back in the days, plugs of my FXR had light-brown colour. Nowadays with this european fuel-shit: grey
I debated on the diving deep into the cleaning, because I know back in the day it was as common as changing oil. The fuel quality is a great one to mention!
Are derby cover bolts missing? I don’t want your brother having any issues, I’m sure you know, but just in case!
He appreciates that! I filmed this while I was waiting on the Heli coil to come in lol
How about the other two?
this only has 2, unless you are working on 1200S
Lol I leaned in so the camera could focus better when you showed the plugs😂
I appreciate you watching!
So helpful! Thank you 🎉
You're so welcome!
Because of this guy, I damaged my bike. For spark plugs Especially for NGK never use anti-seize lubricant it will damage your engine. Hate this channel!!!
Sorry, to hear about that. Always refer to the manual on your exact bike. This is a 1998 sportster mentioned in the video. The plugs are OEM Champion copper and to use anti-seize stated by the Harley-Davidson manual. I never mentioned NGK to be used and you should never use anti-seize with those plugs.
