How to change clutch basket friction plates or upgrade

That's overkill and just added weight. I bought the wheel vice sold by Harbor Freight for $79.

First time in my life I've seen Teflon tape used for a drain plug on a Harley. A new proper O-ring will seal.

I just assembled my HF lift like this a few days ago. I haven't put my 900lb Harley on it yet because I'm working on mods. I bought and installed the upgraded wheel vice for $79. All the reviews I read talked about the factory wheel chock is trash fodder. I applied 12" wide traction tape to the ramp and lift deck. I drilled and installed a 9" x 1/2" carriage bolt pointing down from the front corners of the deck to the floor to prevent the lift from tipping forward when loading a heavy motorcycle. I have added 4 eyelet bolts on the deck in locations better suited for straps to my bike. Probably my last mod I am working on now is adding 10" x 84" HF ramps to the sides of the deck for better footing while loading & unloading my bike. Probably not needed for smaller bikes but my Electra Glide Classic Harley isnt easy to wrestle with pushing or picking it up. Oh, I almost forgot, I added a piece of angle steel to the trap door underside that didn't have any bracing.

I picked up a 1998 1200S several years ago with 5100 miles for $2,800 from a guy in L.A. I was going to make a Hooligan short track bike but my friends quit racing so I dropped the project. The bike runs excellent and is fun to ride for about 1/2 an hour before the vibration is no longer enjoyable. They are still out there and the owners who know what they have will want a premium for them. There is not that much difference between a 1200 and a 1200S. In fact, if you just want to enjoy the style and ride of a sportster you can't beat the 883.

Pull the spark plugs out if you're cranking it just to clear the sumping issues. Put them back in to start it. Your battery will thank you.

you see that brown epoxy dripping down at 8:05? thats not going to get better. one day you will be cruising down the road and it will start backfiring so badly that you sound like youre doing a drive by shooting. i would highly recommend replacing that part while you have it open, you WILL have to do it later.

GREAT JOB I also felt as if I had waisted my money with the clear plastic viewing plug . There may be a difference in them or how fresh the oil is. Keep up the good work. To avoid al the messy splishy splashy oily fog, coming out the timing-hole: You can use a clear, round, acrylic Timing Plug Sight Window. Because every time, i timed the timing ( ten years ago 😇 ) my Strobo-light was messed up.😂 Also: You Sir, are a proud owner of the original "Holy FXR-Bible".

Awesome Jason! I've tried using the plastic timing plug but couldn't see the timing marks. Did you use the throttle thumb screw to lock in the RPM for the procedure? Thanks again for taking the time to share.

Good job Jay! Man, I haven't done timing on a bike in 20 years. You made it look way easier than I remember it being!

Check the screws on that throttle plate, make sure they are tightened down with loctite. Had one let go and take out a valve on the rear head on a Shovelhead one time.

Did you have to cut the bade plate to make that light work?

Did you adjust the idle screw on the carb? Maybe that needs to be turned out

I found my 1991 FXRS-CONV LowRider Convertible with 32k miles for 3.5k(sportster money) on OfferUp. I was searching on motorcycle tradet, marketplace, etc. And was VERY surprised to find my bike on OfferUp and it was local less that 5 miles away from my house.

Morale of the story......CV Carbs. 😂

Thanks for posting. I hope those lights are working for your purpose. They’re nowhere near 18,000 lumens though. It really pi*ses me off that they can advertise such numbers and get away with lying. Good video but he's not holding the torque wrench in the correct place. You will actually have an incorrect torque with the way he's holding it

Just remowe the hose from the airbox and plug that hole, route the breater hose under the bike easier to catch the oil in a drip pan and you woont suck any oil vapour into the motor while running.
