"Without John Williams, bikes don't really fly, nor do brooms in Quidditch matches, nor do men in red capes. There is no Force. Dinosaurs do not walk the earth. We do not wonder, we do not weep, we do not believe." - Steven Spielberg. This movie is timeless and so is the soundtrack...
The T-Rex scene looks by far the most realistic because it’s night time and the rain plus splicing in actual practical effects really sells it. It’s extremely difficult to do perfect CGI in very bright settings where you can see every imperfection
This movie gave me love for BTS and making ofs. I watched so many making ofs since I've seen the one for this movie, it's amazing. This movie still holds up today
J: "And y'all watched this as kids?!" We did. We didn't say we weren't scared shitless. J. It's absolutely a sci-fi horror movie. 🤣 Thanks, Blank. This is one of the amazing ones. ♥
My older brothers had this on repeat growing up. Never scared me since it was constantly on. I have no memory of the first time watching this. It's my oldest movie memory. That being said.. I had no idea how truly scary it was until I watched a couple reactions to it! It's amazing!! haha
@@rrebecaa I mean I can't do most horror movies. PTSD issues. My limit tends to be sci-horror like the original Pitch Black, Jurassic Park, or Alien. So I appreciate not everyone's going to be scared watching the same things. But it's always validating when reactors are scared at my same level. XD
I always love how people are surprised at how awesome the dinosaurs look for 1993--that they look better than most things nowadays. Now imagine what this was like in 1993, when there was nothing of the same caliber to compare it to! The t-rex scene is absolutely a masterpiece. Meanwhile, your reaction to the triceratops' poop scene did not disappoint! "Have ya'll seen the Lion King?" No, they haven't. It came out a year later. ^_^
The big "reveal" is something of movie magic. Music, acting, the scene .... I get Dr Grant and his reaction. His life's work there in front of him .. magic
For me, it’s the single greatest (and most important) scene in cinema history. That’s the exact moment in film when literally ANYTHING truly became possible.
Never fails to bring a tear to my eye. Imagine devoting your life to studying just shadows and leftovers of an era long gone and then seeing it come to life. The music takes the majesty of the moment to 100.
There is a lot of Magick in the film and especially that scene which was something very new and spectacular in '93 as mentioned. You also have the cinematography and scale to add to that. As mentioned here, this movie and even the reactions to it, never fails to bring a tear of joy and happiness, as well as awesomeness when watching.
That shot of the Raptor at 1:02:39 showing his face reflecting the computer screen with a sequence of nucleotide base pairs (the letters that represent the molecules that hold up a DNA strand) is pure genius. This is an epic movie.
Absolutely rad! I think my favorite shot of the whole movie is where the T-REX is shown in the sideview mirror of the Jeep, chasing them because I remember back in the day every side mirror on every car had the words "objects in mirror are closer than they appear". 😂
And there is no reason that shot should be possible. The letter *should* not be visible like that. But when did Spielberg ever let something like reality stop him from making the perfect shot? That's why he's a film genius.
Rexy is the gold standard of FX. Nobody ever had such unequaled quality for their time, not Wizard of Oz, not Star Wars, nothing. Okay, maybe we can talk about the Wizard of Oz... But still.
It just proves that practical effects are king when it comes to realism and that CGI should only ever be used to compliment it and be used where practical effects aren't possible.
I don't care what kind of screen you watch this on nowadays or what kind of sound system you have, NOTHING can replicate watching this movie in theaters when it first came out. No movie before this was anything like it and it still holds up better than anything made since. It is and will always be legendary.
Saw this in theatre and as said, the sound and the huge screen, that is so hard to replicate on a small screen. It doesn't have that same effect but that said, it still is incredible regardless of the size of screen or sound system.
On release the speakers would shake the theater. I saw it again some years ago during a theatrical rerelease, but somehow the sound was quieter with a more advanced sound system. It was a little disappointing. And this wasn’t childhood nostalgia making things seem different than they originally were. I’m 58, and I was an adult when this came out the first time.
This movie came out when I was 3. I watched it so many times in VHS and tv growing up. It's incredible and has always had a place in my heart. During the covid lockdown, all the summer movies were postponed and pushed back, so our local theatre started showing old classics all summer long. I cannot put into words how, in spite of how many times I'd watched this movie growing up, there is nothing that can compare to seeing this on the big screen. Completely unforgettable.
For '93 the cgi was BEYOND amazing! We'd never seen anything like it. It looked so real and the fact it still holds pretty well today is proof of that.
Most of it was real. Only about 30% was CGI. THE T-Rex was completely practical and was controlled by like 20 puppeteers at once! The Triceratops was real too. There's a pic of Spielberg posing on top of it. Crazy good! 😊
Half of the dinosaurs visual were artistically rendered as well as practical effects. My neighbor growing up was one of the artists who worked on the dinosaurs designs and the background fills
@@carriesmith742 and this is why I prefer the older movies. CGI was used when absolutely necessary and the rest was practical effects....it makes for a much more immersive and believable viewing experience. I know it was bred out of necessity because CGI was so difficult and expensive, but, damn, if the balance wasn't just right.
I agree, same age as you. I was in 1st grade and we bought the game on sega, toys anything we could find JP. We had this one figurine that a chunk of the Dino skin came off exposing their bones. I miss these days.
Yer damn right!! I watched this when I was a kid, and even though it terrified me I still loved the HELL out of it! I thought the dinosaurs were REAL!!!😂😂
"Welcome... to Jurassic Park." Fun Fact: The franchise generated much interest in dinosaurs that the study of paleontology saw a record increase in students. Lost In Adaptation Fact: The Mr. DNA (Greg Burson) cartoon was Steven Spielberg's way of condensing much of the novel's exposition into a few minutes. Practical Over CGI Fact: What made this movie the groundbreaking flick that we know today, was the use of Practical Effects with CGI mixed in. If this movie was made today, CGI would have been used for everything and it wouldn't have looked good. Self Insert Fact: Michael Crichton said that his views on science and genetic engineering are largely expressed by Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum). Steven Spielberg saw many parallels to himself in the character of John Hammond (Richard Attenborough). Fittingly, Spielberg cast a fellow filmmaker in the role, who begins his tour of the park by showing a movie in which he also acts. While Malcolm is dressed entirely in black, Hammond wears all white. Not The Virus Fact: The guests' encounter with the sick Triceratops ends without any clear explanation as to why the animal is sick. Michael Crichton's original novel and the screenplay, however, include an explanation: the Stegosaurus/Triceratops lacked suitable teeth for grinding food, and so, like birds, would swallow rocks and use them as gizzard stones. In the digestive tract, these rocks would grind the food to aid in digestion. After six weeks, the rocks would become too smooth to be useful, and the animal would regurgitate them. When finding and eating new rocks to use, the animal would also swallow West Indian Lilac berries. The fact that the berries and stones are regurgitated explains why traces of them are not found in the animal's excrement.
Tchikedy ...The first fact is the "Fun" fact. However I am glad that you are getting enjoyment from my comments. You're welcome. Go in Peace and Walk with God. 😎 👍
Don't forget that the creator of the THX sound well his son helped create DTS DIGITAL SURROUND SOUND and just like his papa they both work for ILM and their names are the initials are the names of the sound quality they both made!🤔😉 THX & DTS are father and son!
This and Terminator 2 completely changed the game for CGI movie effects. I was 15 when this hit theaters and I'll never forget seeing it the first time. ❤
12:23 It was at this moment that the twenty one year old young man that was me became the six year old boy who was obsessed with dinosaurs all over again. Even now, that musical cue still brings me to tears. Chills.
"Timmy's an Avenger!" 😂 Lexi is a badass too, for figuring out that computer system. I saw this movie in theaters when it was first released in '93. I was 23 and trust, men, women, children - all of us were in the theater screaming and jumping out of our skins. I agree, this movie was a game-changer. Great reaction, brother!
I remember the trailer had the one-liner "Hold onto your butts" that got me into the theatres. I remember walking in thinking the TRex was the greatest dinosaur then after the movie, the Velociraptor was king! I love Hammond saying he "spared no expense" except when it came to security, personnel and hurricane proofing. Excellent reaction and editing, it's such an excellent film. God bless you guys with excellence!!
The fact that Spielberg directed "Jurassic Park" while making "Schindler's List" is a testament to his creativity and genius. He also teamed with one of my favorite composers John Williams one again for the main score which they worked together for the main score for Spielberg's 1975 "Jaws" film. Williams also composed the score for "Star Wars" which is all 3 movies have a similar unassuming jovial sound despite the thilling and menacing nature of the action. Great reaction ❤
I was 5 years old when I first saw this movie in the theater. I was obsessed with dinosaurs, and this movie as a kid. I had all the toys, and the video game for Nintendo.
My dad took me and my brother to this movie when I was 10 and I bawled my eyes out almost the entire time from the T-Rex escaping until they got off the island. The concept of living dinosaurs on the loose is oddly the scariest thing I can imagine.
This is a fantastic movie. I've lost count of the number of times I've seen it, but the first time that huge dino appears on the screen, I have the same emotional reaction that I had the very first time I saw it. I am so looking forward to seeing it again the first time through your eyes :) The cat probably won't join me today - dinosaurs scare her ;)
Same. I don't know how many times I've seen it. Still watch the Brachiosaur scene on YT and cannot watch it without tearing up. Every time. LoL I've been waiting 14 months for this. I'll never be so pumped to edit anything J does as I was for this.
Fun fact: while filming in Hawaii they got hit by a devastating hurricane, so the waves you see from the storm were from the hurricane. While taking shelter before it hit Steve Spielberg said go out and get some shots. There is a storm stories episode about it.
I was so surprised you hadn’t seen this. When we first saw it in the theater, a smattering of “Hellooooo, Newman” rippled through the audience! Even after all this time, the special effects still hold up really well. Glad you enjoyed it now instead of having been traumatized as a kid! 😁
Finally, someone who doesn't attack the kids for being stupid. Kids do dumb things all the time, especially in urgent situations. Many times, we recollect on dumb things we've done as kids and realized there was no reason behind what we did except that it was stupid. Many times, it cannot be helped.
For me, it makes sense that kids do things that we, as adults, see are stupid because they literally haven't learned better yet. And they're KIDS so their brains aren't going to immediately go to logic as their emotions and adrenaline runs wild in dangerous situations (hell, plenty of adults make shit decisions when adrenaline gets going). Glad he didn't shit on the kids for being actual children during such stressful situations.
I saw this in the theater when I was 4 years old. I was born October 1988. I was obsessed with dinosaurs. I was teaching adults about dinosaurs. By third grade I was telling people how to say the word Archaeopteryx. When my mom was asked if I was old enough to see this movie, she didn't respond in time. I did. I said, and I quote, "Dinosaurs are dead, silly!" The following birthday and Christmas I got so many Jurassic Park toys and I had so much fun for so many years!
One of the reasons the dinosaurs in this movie look so realistic is that most of them are animatronic skeletons with latex skin and controlled by puppeteers. there was also CGI used in the film but it was very limited where and how they used it.
The movie that changed movies. I saw this on my 11th birthday in a theater in the summer of ‘93. Every seat was filled still a month after the release. I will never forget how special it was. Can’t wait for The Lost World reaction.
I saw this in the theater & was blown away. The dinosaurs looked so real. The CGI work was ground breaking for this movie. As you watch this movie you forget these are not real animals interacting with the people. Love it!!
Better than MOST....IF NOT ALL CGI ....TODAY! it's either ABUSE or OVERUSE. I heard someone say that CGI TODAY is like a "fireworks show" I thought: PERFECT WAY TO PUT IT! Ridiculous, over the top, EXAGGERATED SPECIAL EFFECTS that might be fun at the movies but doesn't make you want to watch it AGAIN. Not me at least. Jurassic WORLD for example. Only saw the first movie at the movies. Didn't feel like watching it again. And haven't bothered to see the next 2 films. Because I thought the CGI was "OVER THE TOP" , The "texture " / "lighting " , making the dinosaurs look almost like "holograms " in my eyes And......EXAGGERATED MOVEMENTS for animals of their size! (Indominus Rex, dinosaur duel, the mosasaurus.....) 🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 Moving like they don't weigh an OZ. Unlike the original trilogy, I've seen them THOUSANDS OF TIMES....LITERALLY! And never get bored. Thanks to PRACTICAL EFFECTS....and CGI done RIGHT. Kept it simple , no exaggerated movements , the dinosaurs looked VERY REAL.
I saw this on opening night in 1993 and I literally teared up during the brachiosaurus introduction. I couldn't believe what I was seeing - A REAL DINOSAUR! That, plus Williams' incredible score made a moment that made me feel like I was 5 again. It was pure magic. I'm so glad you finally got to experience this amazing film!
I was just shy of 17 when my dad and I went to see it in theaters. I still remember how I vicariously jerked my body when the velociraptor almost bit Lex’s leg. 😂😂
A buddy of mine and I saw this in the theater when we were 17. When the lawyer was eaten sitting on the toilet I accidentally blurted out that he died on the throne like Elvis. Had everyone sitting near us cracking up. Great memories.
My all time favourite film. Every time I watch it, I’m transported back in time to 1993, being seven years old and seeing it for the first time, and that Brachiosaurus comes on screen and it’s just magical. It feels so possible. I walked down the aisle on my wedding day to the Jurassic Park theme by The Piano Guys, and I have a tattoo on my thigh of a velociraptor holding a chunk of amber containing a mosquito with ‘clever girl’ above and under it.
This wasn't the 1st movie I saw in theatres, (that was Home Alone), but this is still hands down the best theatrical experience I've ever had. I was 7 years old and it's all I talked about for years after. I had a bunch of the toys, read the novels, knew all the trivia. It's also the only film franchise which I've seen every one in theatres.
I'm so jealous! The original film came out in theaters a year before I was born. But I've always believed it must have been such an exciting and epic experience seeing it in theaters! If only I had a time machine! 😭
Absolutely! Those branches waving on the big screen, the very first scene, forever inprinted in my movie memories as growing anticipation.. I could feel the rain in the theatre, and it only got better from there.
I always loved the kid in the beginning "That doesn't look scary, more like a 6 foot turkey" The heck is he talking about? If i saw a 6 foot turkey i would pass out and die
honestly another movie I’m surprised he hasn’t seen. it might be scary, but it’s still such a cool classic for everyone, even if I don’t like certain parts of it. I’m sure everyone’s waiting for the Nedry scene, “clever girl scene”, or the Mr. Arnold scene.
I swear, this movie was my generation’s “Jaws”. I was 12 when this came out and I still remember how crazy this movie was when we saw it the first time at a theater. It was intense.
Except rather than cause everyone to be terrified of dinosaurs, the movie increased interest in paleontology by leaps and bounds. Same director though.
It doesn't matter how many times i see this movie it is and forever will be one of my favorites! For being 30 yrs old and still holding up to if not better then some of today's films is nothing short of amazing. The T-Rex escape scene is one of the best moments in the entire franchise.
This iconic movie shaped a generation.. it inspired creativity and imagination for countless individuals.. so glad you enjoyed this.. great reaction 😉👍
Oh heck yeah! Great movie; spectacle and wonder, then into straight up disaster film. And that John Williams music... the "Welcome to Jurassic Park"scene gets me legitimately teary-eyed every single time, but I've been watching this movie and listening to that man's incredible scores since I was like 3-years-old.
It’s my favorite scene of all time. It’s the main reason I wanted to edit J’s reaction. That scene is “cinema” to me wrapped up in a glorious 4 minute bow. LoL
I went to see this in the theater with a group of friends. One of the girls screamed so loud and kicked the seat in front of her super hard during the Dilophosaurus scene. She made sure to stay and apologize to the people in front of her after XD. Great reaction to a favorite of so many.
I was 7 years old when this movie came out. At the time I was Gung Ho for dinosaurs. So when mom told me she got us tickets to go see it, I was overjoyed. Despite having nightmares for a few nights after seeing it in theaters, WORTH IT!
It doesn't matter how many times I've seen Jurassic Park, that scene in the maintenance bunker when the Raptor shows up behind Ellie will always get me with the jumpscare.
One of the best lines before a death, "clever girl". Saw this movie when it came out when i was about 9 yrs old. One of my all time favorites. You and Blank did such a great job with it. Fun watch. Also, i love the ambered mosquito you use as the bleep object. Good choice 😄😄😄
Most of the employees evacuated because of the storm so not as many people as you thought got killed. This is one that I tear up in several scenes. The first shot of the dinosaurs always gets me. This one never gets old and is still the best of all the Jurassic movies. They are all good though....even the 3rd one, which everybody hates. One of the best shots of all time is in the 2nd one...I'll wait for you to watch that one. Such a great reaction...so many great jumps. I was only gonna watch my favorite scenes....and I ended up watching every minute...Great job!
Well, technically Ghostbusters wasn't CGI (Computer Generated Images), those were old fashioned VFX thrown together in a ridiculously short turnaround time. They'd send test shots to Ivan Reitman for feedback and he'd say "good enough, it's in the movie". They wanted to go back and redo them but there wasn't time, which is why there's a lot of shots that don't look great even for 1984 (like some of the Stay Puft scenes). If I remember right Jurassic Park is a combination of CGI, VFX compositing, and stop motion miniatures (not that I'm an expert on any of those, I just enjoy all those "making of" documentaries 😅).
@@dennishendrikx3228 I realised I sounded like a huge nerd the minute I pressed "Send" 😂 Sidenote: there's a great series called "The Movies that Made Us" which has episodes on both Ghostbusters and Jurassic Park, definitely worth watching if you're into this kind of behind the scenes stuff. I do remember seeing a Making of Jurassic Park special on TV back in 1994, I vividly remember the animatronic T-Rex being worked on. Absolutely groundbreaking stuff. I wish I'd seen it in a cinema instead of on TV.
My son was 3 or 4 when this came on cable. He snuck in our bedroom to watch and I found him sitting on the floor, watching the movie like this 😍😁😍😁. He freaken loved it lol 🤷 so his love of dinosaurs began 💚. He's 30 now and still likes scary films. I had a blast watching your reaction.
I was 19 when this came out the feeling it created in us at that time to see them bring dinosaurs to life was amazing to say the least. The music helped to make it feel fantastical. Great reaction.
It's fun seeing this movie again through someone else's eyes. There are still scenes that blow me away even after all these years, like the t-rex attack in the rain.
You've gotta check out Schindler's List, it'll probably wreck you emotionally but it was Spielberg's other 1993 masterpiece. It's amazing how released BOTH CLASSICS IN ONE YEAR :0
Just wanted to say: Three things. One, I know you’ll probably never see this comment. Two, Jurassic Park was, maybe still is, my favorite movie ever. Three, your reactions to the jump-scares are EXACTLY what we all experienced in the theaters, and the commentary are so funny and charming. I can tell that if we ever met we would be good friends, just based on the way you talk to the camera. So much fun. Thank you so much! -Chad, Atlanta
Lol I usually see all the comments sometimes it gets a little hard but I try to get the bulk of them. I greatly appreciate the kind words and I’m glad you been enjoying. Glad to have you apart of the family.
We def still read all the new comments. And as J’s editor, I’ve waited a year to cut this. It’s been my favorite movie since I was ten. Glad you enjoyed!
Great reaction, and you’re 100% right about it being a secret horror movie. I went and saw this twice on opening weekend. It was absolutely mind-blowing to see those dinosaurs on the big screen, and it’s wild how well the effects hold up. Spielberg took a risk using CG, and it absolutely paid off.
The novel is decidedly less secret about being horror. I think J would be big mad with that one pretty early on. He’d probably have some “shut up!” moments even just reading prose.
dude, I saw this when it came out for my 13th birthday, HOLY SHIT! the music, the visuals... when the T-Rex roared it shook the theater, the whole building shook when it walked. this movie was such an experience. like most book adaptations the book is better, but honestly, they're so different that they each are legendary in their own right
Honestly this is my favorite movie of all time. The music, the puppeteering, the acting, the directing, the source material. Not to mention the technical leaps they made that made a huge impact to the entire film industry as a whole. Just an amazing movie. ❤
The CGI in this movie holds up extremely well. More attention to details was paid to each shot then a lot of more modern movies. Also this music was good thanks especially to John Williams
Another home run by Steven Spielberg!!! I made my parents take me to see this in theaters five times when it first came out. I love this movie so much and it was so real I thought the dinosaurs were real. Everything about this movie was 100.
One of the most honest and fun reactions in UA-cam for this incredible movie, man! 10/10 That raptor reveal moment in the shed is a super intense jump scare, a true #STFU moment. 😂
I watched this in theaters when it came out. I was 6 years old, I had recurring nightmares for years afterwards. Still totally worth it. Re-watching it over the years I just appreciate more and more the effort that had to go into making it look so real. It holds up better than stuff that was made a few years ago.
I remember seeing this in the theater. I can't even describe how amazing it was in the theater. Another masterpiece by Steven Spielberg and John Williams. We must have gone back and watched it four or five times in the theater.
Ikr! It was truly an experience. I was like 4 at the time and this was literally the coolest thing we'd ever seen. Even our parents were white-knuckling the armrest and tense and they never got scared at the movies.
The scene with the bracchiosaurus is still giving me chills. Jurassic World will never reach this kind of level. Also I can't help it. The good boy behind you is always looking at you.
I was six when it came out. I tried watching it in the theater with my dad but I had to leave early because it was too scary. I've seen it as an adult now, of course, and can handle it now. The first "scary" movie (at least by my standards as a kid) that I sat through all the way was Twister three years later.
Saw this at 9 and covered my eyes right after 'Clever girl...'. I didn't learn for years that they don't show anything 😅 It's just the right amount of scary for kids 👍
The best reaction J Man. This movie will forever hold up as a classic. This was also the 1st age-restricted movie I saw on the big screen. Pure terror 😅! J's reaction when Billy's leg drops on the sun roof is pure gold. In fact all of J's jump scares are gold 😂
I was 19yrs old when this came out and this was a real treat to me. i grew up loving dinosaurs, collecting dinosaur toys and such, and used to watch Land of the Lost. Needless to say, those dinosaurs from the 70's looked like sock puppets compared to what Jurassic Park pulled off. There was nothing like seeing this on the big screen too.
Saw this opening weekend and it blew me away!! I was 13 and it was the most spectacular movie I ever saw. Since that day, I have seen this many times and the scene where Alan sees the first dinosaur still makes me happy. I remember the cinema was so quiet when this scene came on, everyone was in shock by what we all saw. There is was, a "real" dinosaur right infront of us. One of the most spectacular cinematic experiences of my life
Being a kid that watched The Land Before Time, rewound it, and watched it again, over and over and over, this movie absolutely blew my mind in 1993 and it holds up incredibly well. I was fortunate enough to have a theater in my area that was able to play it on the 25th anniversary of its release, so I got to relive that first theatrical viewing; lemme tell ya, if you ever get that chance you HAVE TO TAKE IT. Part of the reason everything looks so good is because they hit a great balance of practical effects being used whenever possible and CGI to cover the shots that just couldn't be done any other way; and that CGI still looks pretty damn good 30 years later. Aside from that, I think this movie just hits all the right notes and has a great blend of relatively believable science fiction elements and the action/thriller elements at all the right moments. The book is considerably different, but I think this is a great adaptation of the overall story. The Lost World is clearly the second-best in the franchise and I personally don't think it's that far behind this original release. It retains a lot of the same factors that make this movie great, but expands the story quite a bit. There's some good exploration of the morality of what InGen does in the movie, way more dinos than before, and some great action sequences. The rest are at least worth a watch I suppose (with the possible exception of Jurassic World: Dominion; that shit was just terrible), but the first two are really the only ones that I ever have any desire to go back to on occasion. A timeless movie and a great reaction to go alongside it, JL! You had me crackin' up quite a few times with your commentary and of course your flinches with the jump-scares 🤣🤣
I never thought of Jurassic Park as a comedy, but J's reactions had me howling with laughter the entire time! So glad you enjoyed the film. It's a classic for a reason: everyone making it had a genuine love for dinosaurs and wanted to do the impossible and make them "real." They used everything from suitmation (guys in costumes, ala Godzilla), animatronics, and CGI, and it succeeded on every level. Blank, you should do a compilation video of all of J's jump scares. There are some golden ones in this reaction that need to be included as well. As the guy in Robocop said "I'd buy that for a dollar." Keep up the great work, guys! You are consistently the best show, on UA-cam or anywhere else, that has been my pleasure to watch.
Bro….your reaction was classic!!!! Yeah…tons of kids went to see it. Seeing it in theaters was EPIC tho bro!!! I showed this on the last day of school a couple of weeks ago….the kiddos LOVED it!!!! 🦖🦖🦖🦖🦖🦕🦖🦕🦖🦕🦖
Subscribed as soon as I saw your reaction to the grandkids showing up! Came from binging Se7en movie reactions including yours. And now I'm binging all your reaction videos! Jeff Goldblum in this movie is your spirit animal - gold! LOL, mine, too!
Fun fact: the dinosaur that spat poisonous venom and the vibrating frill was the famous Dilophosaurus! To pronounce (Die- loaf-uh-saur-us) however the real animal did not have the frill or spit venom, it was much larger than the movie shows, it’s real counterpart was at least 10 feet tall and 20 feet long, the meaning of dilophosaurus means “double crested lizard”. This has been fun facts!
I think the original idea was for the Dilophosaurus in the movie to be a juvenile (hence the playful attitude it showed at first). They later changed it so that all of them were that size.
Dude, you don't disappoint, amazing reaction as always. This one was pegged at 11 out of 10, I think I enjoyed watching your reaction more than the movie. And you were 100% correct and on point with how amazing the CGI and practical effects were utilized. Really does hold up after 30 years.
I saw this at seven in theaters and was enraptured by it. It was incredible. Even today, the special effects stand up which is a testament to the skill of the crew. Those were cutting edge CGI graphs for some of those scenes and still better than some seen today.
'So, we just got finished watching a horror movie disguise as a kids movie.' LOL
“50-60 mph if that get out in the open”
“Yeah fuck that” haha that was gold

I read that in the movie trailer voice haha

Maybe never been more true? Movies weren't ready to do what JP wanted to yet. But this one got damn close
It's insane how well this film still holds up today.

XD
This was the perfect amount of scary for me as a kid.
For me, Sam Neill fumbling/removing his sunglasses and awe struck expression is still the highest bar set for looking at absolutely nothing.
@@EOMReacts You are right. Jurassic Park is a horror film in disguise.
That shot of the Raptor at 1:02:39 showing his face reflecting the computer screen with a sequence of nucleotide base pairs (the letters that represent the molecules that hold up a DNA strand) is pure genius. This is an epic movie.
So cool
Absolutely rad! I think my favorite shot of the whole movie is where the T-REX is shown in the sideview mirror of the Jeep, chasing them because I remember back in the day every side mirror on every car had the words "objects in mirror are closer than they appear". 😂
@@veggiesarefruitsIt’s all about the details!
And there is no reason that shot should be possible. The letter *should* not be visible like that. But when did Spielberg ever let something like reality stop him from making the perfect shot? That's why he's a film genius.
The whole part the T-rex in the rain still holds up. One of the best FX-shots in the movie. Lighting, editing, and blocking can do wonders
When it roars and looks at grant holding the flare, my soul shutters.

One reason it was done at night was to hide how bad the CG model actually was in daytime lighting. It's easier to make wet skin look realistic.
Jurassic Park is a timeless classic gem of a movie. The special effects have aged like a fine wine and still hold up to this day.
Pair it with the Islands of Adventure Jurassic Park water ride, and you can see what a big impact it had across the entire world.
In fact, all theaters that agreed to present this in their theater had to install brand new audio systems in order to play the film.
"This is 93?!"
You get it! This movie is a masterpiece! 😊
The granddaughter is an accomplished artist now. She makes absolutely stunning paintings.
Crazy good! 😊
The perfect blend of practical and CGI,, it's the reason why it holds up today CGI was only used where needed
Half of the dinosaurs visual were artistically rendered as well as practical effects. My neighbor growing up was one of the artists who worked on the dinosaurs designs and the background fills
Only 6 minutes of CGI dinosaurs in the OG movie . The rest was Sam Winston's animatronic genius!

30 years have been since this movie, and it's still BEAUTIFUL ❤️
"Welcome... to Jurassic Park."
Fun Fact: The franchise generated much interest in dinosaurs that the study of paleontology saw a record increase in students.

"Timmy's an Avenger!" 😂 Lexi is a badass too, for figuring out that computer system. I saw this movie in theaters when it was first released in '93. “After Little Foot’s mom” LMAO 😂😂😂😂😂. That movie stuck with me.
Every time. LoL
I've been waiting 14 months for this. I'll never be so pumped to edit anything J does as I was for this.
Agreed. Objectively one of the greatest films of all time (but also my personal favourite too 😏)
Fun fact: while filming in Hawaii they got hit by a devastating hurricane, so the waves you see from the storm were from the hurricane.
Hammond was a monster for bringing his grandkids to an unfinished park that he skipped on the expenses of safety.
I am June 88, so I'm basically like 40 years older than you

Love it!!
Spielberg and Williams at their finest. The music throughout is incredible and the brachiosaurus reveal is the what movie and wonder are all about!
I went to a concert - movie thing once, where there was an orchestra playing the music while the movie played in the background. It was amazing
The CGI still holds up, but at the time it came out, it was stunning how realistic it was.
In just the right spot where the CGI and practical blends, that’s where the magic is.
Better than MOST....IF NOT ALL
CGI ....TODAY!
it's either ABUSE or OVERUSE.
I heard someone say that CGI TODAY is like a "fireworks show"
I thought: PERFECT WAY TO PUT IT!
Because I thought the CGI was "OVER THE TOP" ,
The "texture " / "lighting " , making the dinosaurs look almost like "holograms " in my eyes
And......EXAGGERATED MOVEMENTS for animals of their size! (Indominus Rex, dinosaur duel, the mosasaurus.....) 🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Moving like they don't weigh an OZ.
Stop yelling.
I love the whole franchise, but this is still the best one.

Imagine how groundbreaking this movies special effects were to us 30 yrs ago
I was 13 when this came out, and it was awesome. From Ghostbusters CGI to this, in a 9 years.

He’d probably have some “shut up!” moments even just reading prose.
dude, I saw this when it came out for my 13th birthday, HOLY SHIT! the music, the visuals... when the T-Rex roared it shook the theater, the whole building shook when it walked. this movie was such an experience. like most book adaptations the book is better, but honestly, they're so different that they each are legendary in their own right

what i love about this movie is that no matter how many times you watch it you will still enjoy it each time.
The CGI in this movie holds up extremely well. More attention to details was paid to each shot then a lot of more modern movies.
Also this music was good thanks especially to John Williams

That raptor reveal moment in the shed is a super intense jump scare, a true #STFU moment.
I was 7 and there was no way I was leaving but I did cover my eyes during the raptors in the kitchen scene.

I just feel the need to point out that... reason why the dinos look so good is because majority of them are practical effects not cgi
Saw this in the theater when it first came out. Nothing beats seeing it on the big screen with an audience and the sound.
As the guy in Robocop said "I'd buy that for a dollar."
Keep up the great work, guys!
Welcome to the family - J
I can't believe this movie came out 30 years ago. I remember going to the theater to see it like it happened yesterday.
Grant: You bred raptors??
You: Oh. They bite?
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I bet you saw The Exorcist when you were 4, right?
I love this channel because those dogs will be posted up so unbothered on the bed🤣🤣
Can't wait for this. How many shud ups will we get? It's going to be epic😂😂
I can promise you one thing. It’s def epic. Lol
