"Wanna hear the most annoying sound in the world?" Fun Fact: Jim Carrey chipped his tooth years earlier, but had the cap removed for the film to make his character look more deranged. Lost In Translation Fact: The bikini girl played by Anna Anka is speaking Swedish in the bikini bus scene. She greets with "Hej allihopa" (Hey everybody) and says goodbye with "Hejdå" (Bye). What Script Fact: When Harry (Jeff Daniels) and Lloyd (Jim Carrey) are in the car, Lloyd asks if Harry wants to hear the most annoying sound in the world. This was not originally in the script, you can tell by the look on Jeff Daniels' face. Legendary Director Fact: Jeff Daniels claimed he was at a golf course one day when Clint Eastwood told him that he had just seen the movie. Daniels braced himself for a negative reaction, but to his surprise Eastwood wanted to tell Daniels that the bathroom scene had happened to him once when he was on a date. Daniels later co-starred with Eastwood in Blood Work (2002).
I have a Jim Carey story for y'all. I am from Memphis. I was having dinner with a guy that worked in marketing for St. Jude Children's Hospital. He told me a lot of celebrity stories about them visiting the hospital. Jim Carey went there to visit and entertain the children. He got on the elevator to go to another floor to see more children, and asked the St. Jude escort to stop the elevator. He completely collapsed, crying (a lot of these children were stricken with very serious or terminal diseases). He then collected himself, and continued to the next floor to visit and entertain more kids. This was decades ago that I heard this story, but it stuck with me, so I have nothing but respect for that man.
I believe it. Anyone who has spent time in a children's hospital has those moments. I did alot of construction at Boston children's and had those moments alot.
I have CPTSD, and one way I deal is by my TV being on all the time (it's complicated why, I'll spare you). It must be "happy sounds". This fits that bill, so I can quote it nearly word for word, just from having TV in the background at all times, lol There are so many things I can do that with. (I get called out for "watching TV all day", but whatever...it just MUST be on. I'm not sitting there staring at it.) Anyway, said all that to say that I get the "old friend" reference.
Aren't you guys sweet? My home was very violent as a child. This violence would occur on weekends when everyone was home. Back in the day, there were like 2 or 3 channels on the TV, and those were often cruddy. On weekends, there was nothing. So...silence. There was danger in that silence. It was rare for there to be violence during the week when there were sitcoms and game shows on (I guess the adults were too tired for it???). So now, even in my 50s, I don't like the silence. I like the sounds of sitcoms, game shows, or funny movies in the background. I will even stream the old 1970s Match Game sometimes because it reminds me of those safe times, ( like during summer vacations when no adults were home) when I could just be a kid and play. Those sounds were in that safe background. So now it's a comfort. I haven't lived in violence, for many, many years, but when you literally cut your teeth on it, it's just a part of you. It's definitely a harmless way to deal with trauma, but people being what they are will say ugly things to me about it being on all the time. You'd think people would grow up and realize not all of us had it easy as kids, but no. It's also what hubby and I like to do on weekends. We cuddle and watch movies or TV. It's my safe space. Glad to "meet" kindred spirits! :)
35:21 - The "We've landed on the moon!" scene wasn't scripted. Jim Carrey saw that framed newspaper on the day and improvised that. So funny that they had him do it again and filmed it.
“Hey guys! Whoa, Big Gulps, huh? All right.” Those guys weren’t actors in the union; they were just standing around the 7-11 with Big Gulps and got put in the movie and we got this piece of comedy gold. “Welp, see ya later!”
I watch that every time it’s on. I also know, thanks to my dad growing up with him, Steve Sweeney, Jim Carey’s neighbor in that. The Farrelly brothers nailed their career with the first 3 movies they wrote and directed being Dumb and Dumber, There's Something About Mary, and Me, Myself & Irene. Green Book and Fever Pitch are also some of their best work.
The malapropism (mistaking one word for another) that Lloyd was referring to when he said "rapist wit" was in reference to the phrase "rapier wit" with a rapier being a very sharp, pointed sword, and is defined as the "ability to deliver witty and cutting remarks".

Supposedly, the scene at 19:52 where the killer (Mike Starr) gets annoyed in the van is actually a real life reaction. Jim Carrey and Jedd Daniels were in character for so long that he'd just had enough.
It’s a classic for sure, it’s a movie that gets funnier the more times you watch it. “The Cable Guy” is my favorite Jim Cary movie, and one of my favorite movies ever
15:18 "someone bites you in the balls, you have to kill that person because that's a demon.." 🤣that scene always cracks me up because that nut chomp was so insanely unnecessary - he was already winning the fight!! he literally goes from dazing the guy to using his balls as punching bag practice, then decides to snack, like what the everliving hell, man
That kid in the red coat watching Harry get his tongue pulled off the frozen ski lift... same kid that stuck his tongue to the flagpole in A Christmas Story. LOL
I can't decide what made me laugh hardest. The hysterical laughter from you, or those blank disbelief stares into the camera. You had my ribs feeling like I'd pulled something on both sides. A fantastic reaction. Thank you.
35:20 “We’ve landed on the moon!” bit was ad libbed by Jim Carry, you can see the actors and extras starting to laugh just before the scene cuts. The directors thought it was so funny that the added it to the movie.
Addicted to your reactions, J. This is probably the movie I’ve seen the most times in my life. Fun fact for you, Sea Bass is played by Hall of Fame NHL player (and current president of the Boston Bruins) Cam Neely. He recently told a story on a hockey podcast about his time in this film. “I kick the door open and I’m supposed to have this surprised look on my face. ‘Cut! Cam, can you get a little bit more of a shocked look on your face?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, okay.’ Second take, third take, fourth take - now I’m freaking out. I’m like, I got Jim Carey sitting on a milk crate, he’s making ten million or whatever he did for that movie. I’m wasting everyone’s time. So I pulled Jim aside, I go, ‘Listen, Jim, please just bear with me - I’m really struggling here.’ He goes, ‘Ah, Cam, don’t worry about it. I’ve had some scenes that have taken 50 takes - just relax.’ Next take, I kick the door open and he’s mooning me, so they got the shot.” And that’s the scene in the movie, you can tell because Sea Bass is surprised but can’t help but smile 😂
About 25 years ago I was in Chicago. They didn't have skin magazines in the street dispensers like newspapers, but they did have things like the old "Trading Post" papers but for escorts. They had a couple of different ones with all kinds of services offered. I did take a couple of samples because I didn't think anyone back home would believe it if I told them. Harry actually did end up hitting Carry in the back of the legs. Not sure if it was an accident or he just didn't realize how hard the hit would be. Carry did a great job of playing it off though.
The big, tough trucker guy at the cafe…the “Sea Bass” character is played by Cam Neely, an NHL Hall of Famer. One of the best power forwards to ever play…and he was/is huge. 6’3” 235lbs when he played. A no joke, huge tough guy and hardcore player, who also scored a bunch. He was a huge star in hockey when this came out. He’s now the president of the Boston Bruins (the team he famously played for). These directors are huge New England area sports fans and they put a lot of star athletes (especially guys who play in New England/northeast part of the US) in their movies in small roles.
One of my favorite stories of all time, my wife and I were going out to dinner late one night and as I'm sitting at the red light, two guys were crossing in the crosswalk dressed as Lloyd and Harry in their light blue and orange tuxes. I had to turn around and drive past them yelling "I love you guys!".
Fun fact: Mary, the woman he is obsessed with…was actually his wife after this film…this film was in 1994 and they married in 1996 and divorced in 1997.
24:23 Those 2 guys were watching the crew film in that location when the director asked if they wanted to be in the movie. Jim improvised the big gulp line.
Dude.... you have the best laugh, and your facial expressions right before you say, "shut the fuck up." Pricesless. There are so many things and lines from this movie me and my friends have just incorporated into our normal, everyday conversation now. Seeing you react to how outlandish and over the top some of it is is fantastic. It's one reason I love your channel. I'm happy to see your channel growing with success. It's nice to see good people have success. Great reaction to such a classic. Appreciate you! 👏👏👏
New to this channel here but I had to sub right away 😂. This is one of my favorite movies of all time not just comedy. But watching you react I was crying laughing. Nothings made me laugh that hard in a long time 😂😂😂. I think this movie starts stronger than any other comedy. “I got worms!!”

I remember we didnt eat much of the pop corn that was passed around the table when we saw this on vhs!nobody wanted to choke on pop corn that afternoon!
When I was in junior high living near Sundance Utah, one day we saw 4 of these dog vans parked outside Ventura studios , we thought they were so hillarious looking wondered what they were for and then about a year later this movie came out and we found out . Was wild sitting in the theater and seeing the dog van appear, me and all my friends yelled so loud lol. Love this movie and forever heartbroken they didn’t get on the bus as oil boys at the end , every male that sees this movie dies a little inside at that scene.
Watching this in the theater was so fun! The whole theater was rolling with laughter! It was the toilet scene that really got everyone going! Great movie!
The person who played Sea Bass ,Cam Neely was a professional hockey player, still playing in the NHL when this movie came out... Yeah he got teased by teammates and opponents alike 😆😆
26:15 Fun fact: there’s a pair of guys with a UA-cam channel that build bikes. They constructed nearly an exact replica of this bike and rode it from Lincoln, Nebraska to Aspen, Colorado. It took them three days to make the trip. I’d recommend checking it out. It was a fun episode.
Fun fact: "Sea Bass" (the guy who spits in the burger) is played by Boston Bruins great (and Hall of Famer) Cam Neely. Apparently, he was a huge Jim Carrey fan and wanted a part in one of his movies :) Fun fact #2: The cop who drinks the pee is played by Harland Williams. Back in Canada, Jim Carrey used to test-read his jokes on Harland. :) Fun fact #3: in the original script, the guys were supposed to drive off in the bus with the bikini babes. Carrey objected, saying it was funnier if they blew this opportunity as well. Carrey got his way, and I think they made the right call.
the opening song was performed by apache indian 9:32 obviously meant not as depressing as that part of providence 25:09 obviously meant accommodation, but this was before it was made illegal everywhere to sleep where ever you wanted 26:12 there's a youtube about these two brothers who tried that and showed us why it wouldn't work
My son and i seen this 3 times in 2 days. We laughed so hard we had see it again next showing. We laughed so hard we missed most of it again. Had to go again the next day
Glad to see this review. This was a great movie back in the day. Quoted many lines from this movie for years. Oh, and i love your brown dog. He/she is always looking at you, and almost always has their tail wagging.
15:47 Murder Whistle: "People don't bite people on the balls in a fight. Like, but he actually bite him in the balls. Like (MW shows how) like..." Your demonstration at 15:54 LMAO!
Jim Carrey was a huge part of my childhood. I watched everything, even his serious roles, on a loop. I hadn't watched Dumb and Dumber since I was in high school, and that movie STILL makes me laugh. God bless Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels for being in the greatest buddy comedy of all time 🙏
There was a veteran of the Iraq War named David Bellavia in a book he wrote about the experience detailed a hand to hand fight to the death with an insurgent, and that guy bit the author in the b*lls in a desperate attempt to survive.
LOL, same reaction I always have when I hear that music there at the beginning. A great movie of the 90s, featuring what is quite possibly THE greatest scene in the history of American cinema.... you'll know the scene when you see it. Oh, and that song, New Age Girl.... it was something special to some of us naughty, naughty teenage boys of the 90s.
@ 6:45 You almost took me out when you were starting to say something, and he said shaggin' wagon. You gave him the side eyed. I could see the "I'm not even going to address that" look on your face 😂 If you haven't watched Cable Guy, you should add it to your list. It has Jim Carrey and is funny.
I remember seeing this when i was younger thinking “there’s no way someone can poop that much” …. Then when i got older i got salmonella…… shit happens 🤣
They made actually made a 3rd movie called Dumb and Dumberer When Harry met Lloyd and explains how he gets the chipped tooth in the 3rd movie. They used different actors for Harry and Lloyd that are look alikes but younger versions of them.
I always wanted to start a band called Rhode Island Slut. This is my favorite comedy of all time. I'll randomly hear a song from this movie and start cracking up.
at 24:23, the two guys standing outside the store WERE actual random cutomers that happen to be there just standing n drinkin while the camera was recording, JIM CARREY improvised with them, their confused WTF reaction is authentic, afterwards, they asked them if they mind signing a release form to be put the scene in the movie
When I watched this movie as a kid, I would always crack up at Harry's diarrhea scene! I ended up laughing so hard that my parents had to scream at me to shut up! I still crack up at it to this day!
The scene where Jim comes out of the convenience store and talks to the two dudes about the big gulps, those were two complete random people 🤣 they couldn't shut down the store for the film so shot it in public

The malapropism (mistaking one word for another) that Lloyd was referring to when he said "rapist wit" was in reference to the phrase "rapier wit" with a rapier being a very sharp, pointed sword, and is defined as the "ability to deliver witty and cutting remarks".

Fun fact: "Sea Bass" (the guy who spits in the burger) is played by Boston Bruins great (and Hall of Famer) Cam Neely. Apparently, he was a huge Jim Carrey fan and wanted a part in one of his movies :)
Fun fact #2: The cop who drinks the pee is played by Harland Williams. Back in Canada, Jim Carrey used to test-read his jokes on Harland. :)
Fun fact #3: in the original script, the guys were supposed to drive off in the bus with the bikini babes. Carrey objected, saying it was funnier if they blew this opportunity as well. Carrey got his way, and I think they made the right call.
37:44
Oh my god…
Your face…
It had me in tears…😂
the opening song was performed by apache indian
9:32 obviously meant not as depressing as that part of providence
25:09 obviously meant accommodation, but this was before it was made illegal everywhere to sleep where ever you wanted
26:12 there's a youtube about these two brothers who tried that and showed us why it wouldn't work
I was a van driver for a hotel back in the day, They filmed this here in Utah. They inconvenienced EVERYONE at the Salt Lake City Airport.
My son and i seen this 3 times in 2 days. We laughed so hard we had see it again next showing. We laughed so hard we missed most of it again. Had to go again the next day
Dude, you are the funniest reactor on UA-cam. I had a blast watching this with you. Keep up the great work!!!
Glad to see this review. This was a great movie back in the day. Quoted many lines from this movie for years. Oh, and i love your brown dog. He/she is always looking at you, and almost always has their tail wagging.
"His math mathin." LOL! Dude.... you are amazing.
Awesome Movie and Work Bro, Thanks 👍👍👍😀 Greetings from Helsinki, Finland 🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸
Seabass in the movie is actually NHL great & former Boston Bruins Cam Neely
"Hey, big gulps. All right". Possibly my favorite line of all time and I studied literature in college
“Oh girl, he about to paint your walls” 🤦🏻♀️🤣🤣🫶💩💩💩
Jim Carrey "t-he t--he" THE 😂😂😂😂😂😂
15:47 Murder Whistle: "People don't bite people on the balls in a fight. Like, but he actually bite him in the balls. Like (MW shows how) like..."
Your demonstration at 15:54 LMAO!
The "i'm a limo driver" and tie flip is just magnificent
"Yea I called her up, she gave me a bunch of crap about not listening to her, I dunno I wasn't really paying attention."
That was a great STFU at the end when you threw your pen! Hahaha! 🤣
I always thought the kids name was Billy Enforce... Then one day the subtitles said Billy in 4c.. ohhh Billy lives in apartment 4ç.. 😂😂
Aspen, where the beer flows like wine, and the women instinctively flock to me like the salmon of Capistrano.
The word he was looking for was "rapier" wit. It means being able to quickly deliver cutting remarks and retorts.
You were so disgusted and offended about them not getting on the bus. Throwing hands and everything! 😂
I could see the "I'm not even going to address that" look on your face 😂
If you haven't watched Cable Guy, you should add it to your list. It has Jim Carrey and is funny.
Best reaction I've ever seen. You spend half the movie saying, We gonna fight. Then you see how he fights LMAO
"Although slow and dangerous behind the wheel; old people are good for something... Don't you go dying on me." My favorite line cut out. 👍🍻
I remember seeing this when i was younger thinking “there’s no way someone can poop that much” …. Then when i got older i got salmonella…… shit happens 🤣
with salmonella, it happens again and again and again. I got food poisoning once and you would not believe what was comin out of me.
They made actually made a 3rd movie called Dumb and Dumberer When Harry met Lloyd and explains how he gets the chipped tooth in the 3rd movie. They used different actors for Harry and Lloyd that are look alikes but younger versions of them.
The movie "number 23" is a great murder mystery movie where Jim Carey is in a completely serious acting role
"That John Denver is full of shit man". 😂😂😂
“Almost heroes”. Chris Farley and Mathew Perry are in it. My favorite chris Farley movie.
I always wanted to start a band called Rhode Island Slut. This is my favorite comedy of all time. I'll randomly hear a song from this movie and start cracking up.
84 Sheepdog is a great band name too
'Suck Me Sideways' if you're thinking about a solo act...
'I Got Worns' is a good alternate...
43:55 The rage when you throwed that pillow made you dog wake up! Aahhahahahahahahahaahahah!!!! AAHAHAHAHAH AHAHAHAH AHAHAHAHAH!!
The whole ball-biting routine was "top of the line" hilarious! Excellent reaction as always.
Liar liar and Bruce Almighty are also hilarious
I feel ya on the last scene. As a kid I was so pissed, disappointed, and dumbfounded when I first saw that.
Love that you giggle at the “big gulps, huh?” line. That was ad lib by Jim C. It’s hilarious to me also.
25:12 I was drinking a smoothie, and literally started choking
at 24:23, the two guys standing outside the store WERE actual random cutomers that happen to be there just standing n drinkin while the camera was recording,
JIM CARREY improvised with them,
their confused WTF reaction is authentic,
afterwards, they asked them if they mind signing a release form to be put the scene in the movie
When I watched this movie as a kid, I would always crack up at Harry's diarrhea scene! I ended up laughing so hard that my parents had to scream at me to shut up! I still crack up at it to this day!
Those sounds though while Harry finds out something's up with his stomach lmao
@@scipioafricanus5871 Those sounds are the _"get-the-fuck-out-of-the-bathroom-right-fucking-now-before-I-throw-your-ass-out"_ stomach sounds! 🤣
Jeff Daniels ( Harry) has always reminded me of the bird from the jungle book with the blonde hair 😂
Me and my friend laughed so hard when we seen it, lol.😊
Me too
The scene where Jim comes out of the convenience store and talks to the two dudes about the big gulps, those were two complete random people 🤣 they couldn't shut down the store for the film so shot it in public
"he's kissing her ancestors" had me rolling xD
algorithm got me here a month ago...that laugh is wholesome asf, and humble my friend. Keep on keeping it real.
