"Hasta la vista, baby." Fun Fact: Linda Hamilton's twin sister, Leslie Hamilton Gearren, was used as a double in scenes involving two "Sarah Connors" (for example, when the T-1000 was imitating her). Identical twins Don Stanton and Dan Stanton played the hospital security guard and the T-1000. No Camera Tricks Fact: Robert Patrick undertook a rigorous running regime and practiced breathing only through his nose, in order to appear to be a cyborg that could run at high speeds without showing fatigue. He had trained so hard that he was able to catch up to Edward Furlong on his dirt bike with ease. Stripper Night Fact: A female passer-by wandered onto the biker bar set thinking it was real, despite walking past all the location trucks, cameras, and lights. Seeing Arnold Schwarzenegger standing in the bar dressed only in boxer shorts, she finally asked what was going on, only for Schwarzenegger to reply that it was male stripper night. Nuclear Nightmare Fact: Special effects guru Stan Winston and his crew studied hours of nuclear test footage in order to make Sarah Connor's "nuclear nightmare" scene look as realistic as possible. A miniature Los Angeles was made to simulate the scene. Some of the materials used in the miniature that mimicked all the destroyed masonry were Matzos crackers and Shredded Wheat. After each take, it would take on average two days to set the model up to shoot again. In late 1991, members of several US federal nuclear testing labs unofficially declared it "the most accurate depiction of a nuclear blast ever created" for a fictional movie. The special effects team members have stated several times that no scene they've worked on since has received an equivalent amount of praise or emotional feedback from viewers.

I was just coming on here (again) to say that about the twins. I always thought it was funny to me that the guys in the parking lot that nearly get killed for helping out John resembles Roddy Piper and Keith David from THEY LIVE. How awesome of a cameo would that have been if James Cameron cast those parts differently. Lol.
"I know why he's naked I just figured they'd fix that along the way" You do realize when Sarah said Skynet send two terminators back through time, she was referring to the terminators that were sent back to time to delete Sarah and her son. The first one went to 1984 to delete her and the other went to 1995 to delete her son. Both were sent at the same time. A lot of people, including me, misheard her and thought she say that Skynet sent two terminators back in time to delete John. No, John Connor send Kyle Reese back to 1984, and then they send this reprogrammed T-800 back to 1995 before (like what Reese said in the police station in T1) leveled time displacement complex.
Man every time the Terminator gives the thumbs up at the end it hits me in the feels. It did when I was watching this as a kid in the 90s and it still does as an adult today.
Oh I also like the comments about the T1000 talking like a human but then moving like some kind of animal. His theme in the soundtrack does remind me of Jaws.
Watching as an adult makes me appreciate Linda Hamilton’s performance. I sympathize with her character so much more (people not believing her; what to do with that information she was given; the work she put in to her body and mind).
"When Robert Patrick was training to portray the T-1000 - in addition to learning how to go through entire conversations without changing the tone of his voice, not blinking it all, breathing without his chest moving, and running without notably breathing - he conditioned himself (this was all his idea) to fire his gun without flinching, and to fire and reload both and left and right-handed, since as a robot wouldn't be left or right-hand dominant like a human."

I always look forward to your videos! Youre awesome and funny!
Arnold's "spin-cock" move with the lever-action shotgun came from the likes of John Wayne (in some of his movies) and Chuck Connors (no relation with Sarah and John) as Lucas McCain in _The Rifleman_ . These are all westerns, which is natural because the Old West was when lever-action firearms were at their most popular. To enable spin-cocking, the lever loop has to be made a lot larger and rounder than it normally is from the factory. The very same lever-action Winchester shotgun used in this movie was also used in _The Mummy Returns_ by Brendan Fraser, although he doesn't spin-cock it (that I recall 🤔).

To answer your question about why they would make another movie, they didn't, this is the last one. You may see other terminator films but those aren't real.
I saw an interview with Robert Patrick and he said he based his Terminator's movements off of a shark. Which makes total sense. And to think a movie about a robot sent back from the future to protect a kid (sent by the kid himself) from another robot sent to the past to kill said kid, gave me the feels big time. This was so well written and crafted. As said before in these comments, T2 is the GOAT and the gold standard for sci-fi movies.
I like that this film is very action heavy but also implements some deep science fiction questions throughout the film. You don't see a whole lot of action films dive deep into philosophical and hard science fiction ideas.
When we could see one of your copilots moving towards you across the bed, and you clearly didn't see this, I counted down out loud ... "three ... two ... one ... WHHOOO!" Reaction platinum!
Linda Hamilton's twin is in this movie. There was also a really cool scene in this extended edition (cut from theatrical Version). It shows what looks like a mirror reflection when Sarah Connor is taking a chip out of Arnold's head, when in reality it's her sister on the other side. Her twin is also another scenes as well.
36:48 I saw this in theaters when I was a kid and have seen it probably 50+ times in my life since then and have never noticed that! My mind is freaking blown right now!
@44:04 when your dog touched your arm with his paw and you jumped hahahaha 😂😂😂 Someone needs to make a scare compilation from your reactions if there isn’t one already.
This was great in the theater back when it came out. That level of CGI was still fairly new, and even the parts that were a not so great was better than most of what had come before. The T-1000 walking through the bars and that reversal near really got a reaction. It was also funny to think that that shrink would be checking in to the facility after having his mind blown like that. Halon is a fire suppression agent. It displaces the oxygen in the air so the fire can't burn, or something like that. It will kill you if you breath much of it.
What's cool is all the practical effects done in the movie too. The T-1000 getting shot -practical. The healing was CGI. Motorcycle into canal - practical, truck into canal, practical, helicopter under the overpass, believe it or not, practical.
@@SteelJM1 Right. They understood the limitations of CGI at the time, so they only used it for certain things. Even then you could tell where they cut corners a bit and put more effort into the bigger scenes. Practical effects were indeed used whenever possible. One interesting detail. When the hospital security guard knocks on the glass it sounds like flesh and blood, but when the T-1000 does it sounds metallic.
@@SteelJM1 I missed it for a long time, too. Even after I noticed the sound it took another viewing to realize it was his hand and not a flashlight or something. So even when know what he is, you still miss little giveaways.
It's very rare I put two comments on a video, because I usually comment before I watched the video as a means of support, along with liking and subscribing LOL :-) but just in the first few minutes of this reaction, you picking up that Arnold might not be the bad guy, that the T1000 is absolutely the bad guy, your commentary on how Arnold would have killed everybody in that bar the last movie, Etc. That one person in the previous comment was absolutely correct, you have some of the funniest reactions on all of youtube! And you're clearly observant. think it's been a couple of months since I subscribe to you, keep up the good work homie!
Halon is a fire suppression technology where Halon gas is pumped into a space, the gas displaces all the oxygen and extinguishes the fire. If a human in in the space they will suffocate almost instantly without an oxygen breathing apparatus.
Fun tidbit: In the UK, I believe, Sarah's lock picking was censored because it was real and for some reason it was some kind of security issue. It's the weirdest movie trivia I ever heard.
Good eye on the security guard. He is an actual twin, and they were both in this. Also in Gremlins 2. Fun fact: Linda Hamilton (Sarah) is also a twin and her sister was in 3 different scenes of this movie.
You just saw one of the greatest action films and sequels of all time. It's perfectly acceptable for men to cry at the end of Terminator 2. I ain't afraid to admit I got teary eyed when I first saw the movie (shut up).
Actually, the T-800 (Arnold) never killed anyone in this movie. He maimed a few people early on, but didn't kill them. By the way, T-800 refers to the robotic combat chassis or endoskeleton. Model 101 refers to the human part that looks like Arnold. There are many other T-800s with various different models of human flesh. T-600s ("600 series "from the first movie) were the ones with rubber skin, and the T-1000 is the advanced prototype made of liquid metal.
God, the whole video laughed to tears) One classic phrase is enough - Shut up, please!, and a long look of irony at the screen) You are the funniest reactionary!)
I first saw this back when it came out on rental here in Norway. I was 10 years old at the time and it was the scariest movie I had ever seen. My uncle who saw it in the cinema couldn't stop talking about the special effects, and I think it can't be overstated how incredible they were at the time - I don't think they were matched until Jurassic Park came out. Today I feel we are very jaded when it comes to special effects. I don't think you mentioned it, but you might have recognized John Connor/Edward Furlong from American History X. He looks different with hair but his face is quite characteristic. You're completely right about how it was unnecessary to make any more movies after this, but no way a movie as successful as this one wouldn't have sequels. Unfortunately none of the subsequent movies are anywhere close to T2 in quality and of course you will compare them to T2, so it's a setup for disappointment. T3 is basically "what if there was a sexy female terminator" and it's as dumb as it sounds.
Maybe the quickest “shut up!” We’ve had so far? 😅 we need a shut up compilation. My personal favourite was J getting shook by Mr Jingles from Green mile. 😂 happy new year to the EOM crew. Hope you have a great 2023 🎉
The T-1000 was a prototype that Skynet thought was too dangerous to manufacturer more of. You can see it showing signs of a developed personality with it expressing amusement at seeing a blank metal mannequin or the smirk when he complimented the police officer's bike. It's more independent than any T-800. "Independence" is the last thing Skynet wants its Terminators to express. So things were so dire that they sent THAT back to kill John Connor.
I was a teenager when this came out and since both of my parents loved the first one, we saw this at the theater on opening night. The movie was fantastic, more than we had expected, but what I remember most clearly is the silence of the crowd coming out of that theater. Everyone was just blown away by the special effects. In 1991, they were unlike anything we'd seen before and it was stunning on the big screen.
Well, that’s certainly a great way to play the role of an extremely dangerous infiltrator/hunter. Mantids (the group to which the praying mantis belongs) are perhaps among the most badass hunters to ever exist. Although most mantid species are harmless to us (because they aren’t adapted to feed on humans or anything dramatically larger than themselves), they are arguably some of the most ludicrously overpowered creatures in the insect kingdom, even being so well equipped for surveillance and ambush strikes that they can quite easily outfox and take down *spiders.* Some larger mantid species (which can reach up to around six inches long, amazingly) can even bring down smaller birds, thanks to their strong limbs and lightning-quick reflexes. (I read a little while back that mantids can strike multiple times faster than we can blink. About six times faster, if memory serves-which is utterly absurd, and it gets more and more absurd the more you think about it. How do you defend against something that fast?) The things are so stupidly powerful, it’s almost cartoonish. Yeah, I’d say Robert Patrick had the right idea. …Sorry for the somewhat nerdy rant there. I love bugs-at least, for the most part. (Some of the peskier varieties I’m not too fond of, though, and I have a love/hate relationship with spiders. Friggin’ eight-legged conquistadors, always trying to march in and take over everything.) The praying mantis is easily one of my favorite kinds, at that. Also I tend to ramble when I speak anyway.
24:28 People really used to keep their keys like that. This movie preceded a major uptick in carjackings that may have been induced by this movie pointing out that people leave their keys in their cars, so people began to take their keys more seriously, so parked cars were harder to steal. This is also done four years later in *Independence Day* when Vivica A. Fox confiscated the big truck after the city was destroyed. I can't think of any movies that did it after that.

Fun Fact: Linda Hamilton's twin sister, Leslie Hamilton Gearren, was used as a double in scenes involving two "Sarah Connors" (for example, when the T-1000 was imitating her).
EoM Community Fact: BigGator5 comes hard with the facts. All the facts. For every movie.
....and thats a fact. 😝
amla173 ...Thank you! I'm currently sitting here with the flu. Hopefully, it will be gone by tomorrow. However you just made my entire day.
Go in Peace and Walk with God. 😎 👍
Fun fact: you're fucking annoying with your constant copy/paste comments on every single video. Are you that desperate for attention?
@@BigGator5 Hail Gator! 😍🐊
Lol.
I think you're the first reactor to recognize the Salute Your Shorts guy. He's always had such a distinctive voice to me
Meanwhile, my old ass knows him from Different Strokes 🥲
I love how the biggest jumpscare you got while watching this movie was from Drago during your reaction at 44:04! LOL
He just wanted some LOOOOVE 💔
@41:10 “He nasty with that first finger.” 🤣
"I know why he's naked I just figured they'd fix that along the way"
You do realize when Sarah said Skynet send two terminators back through time, she was referring to the terminators that were sent back to time to delete Sarah and her son.
John's step mom was the actress that played Vasquez in Aliens :)
Man every time the Terminator gives the thumbs up at the end it hits me in the feels. It did when I was watching this as a kid in the 90s and it still does as an adult today.
Your delayed reaction (laughing) after Arnold said, "He'll live," was hilarious! :)
Saw this at 10 yrs old at a drive in, one of the best movie experiences I've ever had
That mini gun scene must’ve been lit
“Nevermind I know that Jon and them on a budget”. Quick ass quips like this is why I keep coming back man so good.
My favorite scene from this film is when Sarah runs into Arnold not realizing he’s actually there to help.
Her reaction was so real and visceral.
Catches my breath every time!
Fun fact: When the T-1000 imitates Sarah Conner, the actress is Linda's real life twin sister.
Wait. For real?
I’d recommend the movies: “Powder”, “Phenomenon”, “Michael”, “Bicentennial Man”, “Meet Joe Black”, and “Surrogates”.
Totally agree that The Terminator and T2: Judgment Day is a perfect story arc and more sequels were beyond unnecessary.
T3 wasn’t bad imo. I mean. Any follow up to a perfect movie is bound to get crushed.
@25:17 A lot of us were asking the same question until it finally dawned on us that since it’s liquid metal, the only thing that would destroy it is molten metal.
13:18 I always loved the way the T-1000 morphed (not just at this timestamp, but all throughout)
Experts have described the dream sequence as the most realistic depiction of a nuclear explosion ever made.
You're awesome. It was so fun hearing your thoughts. You said you were bad at recognizing people but you spotted Hank from Breaking Bad and in full swat gear! You made a lot of good observations
He was also in Total recall. As the mutant Tony
@@justaguy2365 Oh yeah, you're right! Wait 'til he realizes that John Connor's foster-mother is Vasquez from Aliens :D
Ok now imagine there’s no social media, a couple trailers….. The only thing you know is the 1st movie….. Going to a theater and the first time he says “get down.” BLEW EVERYONE AWAY…… You realize he’s the good guy. Unreal experience and only James can create cinema fun like this…… I was super young and still was like WTF 😂😂😂😂😂😂 10:41
Man I love seeing what you decide to use for the bad word icon. Always makes me laugh! Keep up the great reactions!!!
Glad you enjoy it!
11:33 Robert Patrick was a footbal star and sprinter at Bowling Green in the early 'Eighties, and he actually overtook John on the motorcycle in the first few takes.
In the first movie, You recognized Lance Hendrickson - AKA "Bishop" from Aliens
Im surprised you hadnt recognized Michael Biehn - AKA - Kyle Reese - AKA "Corporal Dwayne Hicks" from Aliens
ALSO... Funny thing John Connors Foster Mother is Jeanette Goldstein - AKA "Lieutenant Vasquez" also from Aliens!
ALSO - In the first Terminator - One of the first few punks that got killed in the beginning of the movie was Bill Paxton - AKA "Private First Class - HUDSON" also from Aliens ;)
James Cameron loves to use his regular Actors !
This is one of the top 3 movie Sequels of all time along with Aliens and The Empire Strikes Back
I'd take that list. All three are in my top 5 movies.
Agreed.
The Godfather II and maybe B2TF II, though I love B2TF III more than II
Honestly I’d say it is the best sequel of all time and it’s not even close. I will say I’m highly biased towards terminator 2 though.
There's a David Bowie interview in the 90s where's he's talking about the internet. The guy asks, "Isn't the internet just a tool?"
Bowie laughs maniacally and says, "No, it's an alien life form."
Creepy
OMG! I love this movie and have watched SO MANY reactions, but you are the only/first UA-camr I’ve seen to identify Budnick right away! I guess I can’t expect reactors who were born after the show even aired to catch that one. Well done❤
You almost crying made me cry all over again. Great reaction. So glad I found your channel
Mad respect for you spotting Hank from Breaking Bad in this!
4:57 That guy reminds me of "Dimebag" Darrell(RIP) every time I see this part.
SO much gorgeous stuntwork done in these films. Old Skool stuntwork without CGI. Gorgeous!
Robert Patrick was also the evil mercenary in Die Hard 2 that first shot the SWAT guy in the big walkway shootout scene.
Man i remember those days Guns and roses was a new band i was a teen mobster lol served 3 years for armed robbery. Isn't it funny the band is Guns and roses and when they meet he brings guns and roses ( 10:32) to the fight !
When your dog scared the crap out of you I just about shot beer out of my nose that was hilarious.
"I didn't like any part of that!"
"The one-armed robot is NOT gonna make me cry."
THIS and all the other bomb-ass reactions is why you're THE BEST
My favorite trivia of this movie is that John's foster mom is played by Jenette Goldstein, whom you have also seen in Aliens, as Vasquez.
And the lady with the kids in Titanic
The Matrix
One of the earliest movies I recollect crying to. The end just got me, even at that young age.
@@Thane36425 Oh dang, I missed that! Those tiny details!
@@SteelJM1 I missed it for a long time, too. Even after I noticed the sound it took another viewing to realize it was his hand and not a flashlight or something. So even when know what he is, you still miss little giveaways.
The CGI had only been done before in The Abyss for the "water head" scene. There was CGI in Tron but it wasn't this type.
I always felt really bad for Dyson, he was trying to do the right thing and got killed.
Fun trivia: the actress who plays the foster mom in T2 also plays Vasquez in Aliens
That's a damn near perfect movie .....ohh your're goddanm right . This movie is a true masterpiece .
"That's Detroit" kills me every time🤣🤣🤣
You just saw one of the greatest action films and sequels of all time.
This sequel is flawless. It’s the best one.
43:52 when u said wild animal dying ur dog got up like: "Bro we need to talk"
I agree! T2 IS indeed a damn near perfect movie.
I’m so jealous you get to watch this for the first time. I was about 10 when I watched this and wow, for the film it wanted to be……perfect.
Robert Patrick that plays the T-1000 said in an interview that he prepared for the roll mimicking a pray mantis and how they moved.
Sarah pretty much becomes a Terminator. When you stare into the abyss, the abyss stares into you.
I met the twins/security guards at a random arcade in Huntington Beach a little after this came out when I was a kid. Super nice dudes!
haha. love that you notice the kid from 'salute your shorts'
T3 tells a different side of the epic story of John Conner.
Came across your reactions the other day. Literally have me laughing out loud watching. T2 one of the best films, one of mine anyway.
I loved your reaction! T2 is still one of the greatest sequels ever made and the CGI back in 90s was really mindblowing.
I’ll one up the Cyberdyne T-shirt. I have the logo tattooed behind my ear. 🤣
Linda Hamilton took my neighbor to his Marine Corps Ball.
I never get tired of your "Detroit" comments lmfao
and yeah, Budnick from 'Salute your shorts" xD
