Most jazz cats that have their music sampled can't stand that part of hip hop, real talk. For the most part, the record company that owns the rights/masters gives permissions to artists to sample the songs. The actual creators aren't very happy with it at all. To quote a close friend of mine that is a world class musician who heard me listening to a Nujabes track that featured a Luiz Bonfa sample, "I can't stand this, give me the Bonfa and let it be"
