I watched this video a couple of months ago and decided to give these a try. I got 5-6 wears on one pair of Jordan 1s. And 10 wears on another pair of jordan 1s. On the other pairs, I think they came off early because I didn't clean the soles with rubbing alcohol. Make sure to do step by step in the video. Also, I was able to get 4 pairs of sole guards. I would recommend using a heat gun instead of an air dryer.
Great info! Always appreciate the feedback!
I’ve done 3 pairs so far, my retro number 11s, the wife’s retro 1’s and my Air Penny 2’s. By now it’s super easy to do.
Glad to hear it! Thanks for the feedback! Do you use the 3m paint protection film, or did you use another brand?
Thnx 4 a honest review. It was almost near impossible 2 find one. Actually ur’s is the only k m
& straight 2 the point 1 I could find, thanks again. It
No problem! I still need to do a review with wearing just the grip tape now too 😆 I think it’ll be a bad idea tho. There are some protectors that have built in grip tape…but this was the most economical option I found.
Good luck! Let me know how it turns out! Just cut and melt the protectors carefully!
Great vid!!
Thanks! I’m also open to constructive criticism and suggestions for new videos! Anything in particular you’d like to see in the future?
I been using this vinyl wrap for a while myself sometimes when i peel it off it leaves a residue on my sole. Also i used to use the grip tape but it makes a crunchy sound when you walk. I tried to use the wrap on my dunks but it wouldn't stick to the sole good. I guess because of the texture of the sole with the star pattern on the toe. I mainly use it for my jordans with the clear bottoms to keep from turning yellow.
Nice video!
Thanks! Appreciate it! Any suggestions for the next video I do? I was thinking maybe a sneaker cleaning comparison or how to remove creases from the toe box? Any suggestions?
Did my first 2 pairs tonight(Jordan 11 & Air Force 1 React)they turned out decent but not as professional looking as yours. Gotta say you really make it look much easier than it really is 😄
Congrats on doing them! Did you use a heat gun? Usually that helps it be smoother (and practice too). Let me know how they hold up! Don’t forget the grip tape!
@@HJartistry Yeah use the heat gun and I got that skateboard grip tape. Just need some more practice I guess. Figured once I do a few more pairs I might get better at making it more neat
@@productofthe80s good deal. Yeah def the heat gun and practice. You’ll be a pro in no time!
Good for 15 wears really adds up, think I'd reather go the expensive way .
Thanks for the feedback. What is the expensive way? Always open to suggestions
I can’t open the links what film did you use like what is it called
Hey I’ll try to link it again. I got it on Amazon it’s called: 3M Clear Paint Surface Protection Bulk Film Roll 6-by-84-inches
Make sure it’s at least 6 inches wide and then I got the 84 inch one.
Here is the exact link on Amazon, hopefully this one will work for you: amzn.to/3YLnQCQ
Whats the name of this stuff i wana see if my local hardware store sells them
It’s a paint protective film just make sure to get skateboard grip tape or you could slip like I did 😂 I’ll look up the exact brand I got but basically just a clear paint protective film
It’s called “3M Clear Paint Surface Protection Bulk Film Roll 6-by-84-inches” for the exact one I got. Just make sure it’s at least 6inches wide. 4in is too small for most shoes. Good luck! Love to hear if you can find it at the local hardware store!!
hahaha thanks for the video. let me know i don't want to jack with sole protection if it only last 2 weeks. thought it would last until i peeled it off. what was i thinking? also was wondering if the short lasting duration maybe had something to do with the amazon knockoffs but that made no sense being as I'm sure the 30 dollar versions are from the same origin place
I am doing another experiment with only grip tape 😆 thinking it’s gonna be a fail.
I would really only recommend this for your grails, and leave your shoes you wear everyday alone. But totally up to you! I should test out some of the name brand sole protectors and see what happens! 🤔
Get clear grip tape for a skateboard and skip a step.
Good idea! But do you think the skateboard grip tape would leave a lot of sticky residue when peeling off?
I might need to test that out! 🤔 💯
@@HJartistrypls tell us if it works
@@tz6229 give me a week and I’ll keep you posted! Remind me if you don’t hear back!
and do u know if it works?@@HJartistry
@@HJartistrydid it work? Lol
too much work, too much money. i had an idea. there must be a one thin (but lot more thicker as these foils) gum sole that u use for any sneaker. only Strap it from bottom to the sneaker
They do have something called Glide Soles! It’s pretty cool. Maybe this is what you mean: glidesoles.com/products/zeus-sole?sca_ref=3452886.E1wub3DUS8
Well I'm certainly not going through any of that. When I buy shoes they come with their own soles. Meant to make contact with the ground that I walk on.
Haha true!!!
both of them won't last a month. you spent over 30 dollars for 10 wear only ?? i personally tried both and i can say this with confidence waste of money
Haha you speak the truth. I personally would only do this with my grails (which I don’t have 🤣). I personally would not do this to everyday shoes--more just shoes that are $300+
Did you find any method that is more economical? Or all are a waste?
