Once a troubled kid with a troubled past told my girls he was gonna bring a gun to school the next day and shoot everyone on the bus. I called the cops. They came out to my house to make a report. They told me that I watch too much TV and that they have never heard of a kid bringing a gun to school. This was about 5 years ago. Thought I was in the damn twilight zone. The other day a girl I k ow that works at a daycare suspected a kid was being molested. Turned it in to her superior and guess what?? She got fired. These reasons are why some people end up not saying things when they hear them

The police are great and we need them but there influence on this case was nothing… They arrested the kid and took him to jail and then the prosecutors worked him over. Part of what defunding the police is about is increasing funding to professionals who should’ve been seen this kid for a long time before he left this little girl dead. We can’t eliminate our police forces but we also have to understand that they are just a part of a bigger picture and their part in this was minimal after the girl was already dead.

Even if the topics brought up are uncomfortable for both of you. You should want your child to tell you what is going on in their life and they should want to tell you. This kind of relationship starts at a very young age. Every time he told someone was a chance for her to be saved. People are just so desensitized now. If you hear it tell someone! I just think of how many different ways this tragedy could have been prevented. From the moment this boy was born to now, how many opportunities to stop this were lost. I am so sorry to the Bailey family. I am so sorry that so many lives have been forever altered by this horrible tragedy. I hope justice is served.

Every one of them said that someone they know, someone they had classes with, or even a friend had threatened to stab them! I asked if they took it seriously or talked with their parents about it, & most said “No”. They said when someone gets mad, “I’m gonna stab you!” is the go to phrase for retaliation. Two of the kids in this group showed me the stabbing threats on their phones! What happened with our youth? Why are they acting like this?

The police are great and we need them but there influence on this case was nothing… They arrested the kid and took him to jail and then the prosecutors worked him over. Part of what defunding the police is about is increasing funding to professionals who should’ve been seen this kid for a long time before he left this little girl dead. We can’t eliminate our police forces but we also have to understand that they are just a part of a bigger picture and their part in this was minimal after the girl was already dead.

Whether it be on social media, telling friends, telling people who bully them or even casually mentioning it to their parents. By the time the act has been done, they have probably shared their plan 2-3 times, possibly more. People do not take this seriously enough! Parents bury their head in the sand and WANT everything to be ok. Parents: TALK TO YOUR CHILDREN! Friends and family, don’t assume someone is “just saying that” and hope things will turn out ok. We as parents need to do better, especially during these times. Your children NEED you to talk and have open and two way discussions with them about life, what’s going on in the world, sex, what they are thinking and hearing, everything! Even if the topics brought up are uncomfortable for both of you. You should want your child to tell you what is going on in their life and they should want to tell you. This kind of relationship starts at a very young age. Every time he told someone was a chance for her to be saved. People are just so desensitized now. If you hear it tell someone! I just think of how many different ways this tragedy could have been prevented. From the moment this boy was born to now, how many opportunities to stop this were lost. I am so sorry to the Bailey family. I am so sorry that so many lives have been forever altered by this horrible tragedy. I hope justice is served.
You’re right. Kids don’t take this kind of threat seriously. I was talking with some young teens a couple of days ago, and this incident came up in the conversation. I was shocked at what they said! Every one of them said that someone they know, someone they had classes with, or even a friend had threatened to stab them! I asked if they took it seriously or talked with their parents about it, & most said “No”.
They said when someone gets mad, “I’m gonna stab you!” is the go to phrase for retaliation. Two of the kids in this group showed me the stabbing threats on their phones!

When the deputy gave his first statement 24 hr after her murder and said he didn’t want to mention how many times she was stabbed I knew it was going to be hard to hear. 114 times. The thought that her parents had to identify her and see the horrific trauma of the last moments of her life it is so heartbreaking it brought a flood of tears to my eyes.
