- My spoiler-free review and slight analysis of The Climber (Kokou no Hito) by Shin-ichi Sakamoto, Yoshirō Nabeda, and Jirō Nitta. It's about a man named Mori, and his development as a climber and person. Mannnn i loved this manga, definitely read it if you haven't yet. This isn't exactly an underground manga but it's still somewhat unknown to the broader animanga community so i hope this vid finds some new people. :) (also will i ever be able to do a vid a month? find out next time)
Finished it today, left me speachless. There is not much to say to someone who's never read it, just give it a go. First few chapters aren't even boring, there is no action or anything like that, just establishing the world and the where story will go. Much later, when we actually go into the hard seinin part of the manga it becomes ruthless, emotional and deep.
SPOILER
When i saw the panel where info of the real life Mori and when he died i firmly believed he will die in the manga too. For last few chapters i really thought that was it for him, and when i saw last two chapters it really made me sad, happy and fullfiled to see him actually alive. Even author himself said in the end he didn't really know what to do with Moris fate in the end, but he decided to let him live, unlike the real Mori who died in his 30s. And to see how mountains damaged him, mentally and psychically really hit different.
Long story short, this manga is brilliant, underrated and i really hope many more people will give it a chance and expirience it how many of us feel about it.
Will definitely reread it.
how much should i read to reach that seinin part?
@@kntrishdekanoidze1382 from memory around chapter 30 is when the manga starts to evolve. but gets really good around halfway. Just keep reading, its worth it!!!
i absolutely enjoyed the first few chapters man. i binge read like 25 chapter before going to bed, im loving it so far.
one of best mangas i've read
changed me as a person,
made me better.
My friend, we gonna need a part 2 of you covering the rest of the manga.
even though I didn't really like the first volumes, Kouko no Hito is still a 10/10 for me. Have you read Innocent from Sakamoto?
I read the first part but not rouge
What would you change about the first volumes?
Probably because it was a different writer for the first 3 volumes
i have no thoughts but a lot of thoughts after finishing the climber
I just finished this manga today. Left such a crazy impact on me and the visual storytelling is unrivaled. So much spoken in just one panel. Chapter 169 will always be etched into my mind, especially when I’m feeling demotivated
Yeah I enjoyed it a lot, very motivating.
nice thanks dude hope this pops off coz I want as many ppl as possible to read this manga it's very very underrated
No fucking way we listened to Mishima soundtrack while reading this manga I can’t believe we had the same idea
Haha that's crazy, i just felt like it had the perfect mix with the manga
Good video, I just finished the climber a few days ago, but I also watched and finished Mishima a few days ago also so it was kind of interesting how you had the Mishima soundtrack in the opening of this video.
can't wait for this movie in theater
Great video as always!! I was wondering, are you by any chance planning to cover Sidooh? I've seen that you reviewed Tsutomu Takahaski's other manga before
Yeah i definitely plan on reading his other works soon, i'll be sure to make Sidooh a priority.
awesome!!
New upload, Let's go!
Finally someone new to sub to
my favorite manga ive read so far
for me the ending and the high school arc bumped it down from a 10 toa 9
I just finished and wow
yeah the story is super impactful
Fucking well done lad
Great reviews but why do you worries about spoiling the manga. Bro it is manga reviews!!! Give your full thought !!!
Thank you! I try to avoid spoilers so people who are just interested in the series might read it for the first time if it's interesting to them, and i think it's fun trying to review the series' without spoiling major plot points or endings.
Can you explain me the final?
It's subtle and left to perspective, but Mori survived the K2 climb, and while he still lost a lot and suffered injuries, he continues to climb as a changed man because he's still a climber, but a different one now.
Was he alive at the end
spoilers. but yeah
wowoow
Nice
Where can I read this in English?
You have to read it online, mangadex is a good site for it. Unfortunately there’s not a English release yet officially.
@@R0ke thanks 🙏
