- 'Joker: Folie à Deux' cinematographer, Lawrence Sher, breaks down how he shot the prison sequence on Alexa 65 to capture the conversation between the Joker and Harley Quinn using two cameras and contrasting lighting.
I know a lot of people didn't like this movie, but c'mon, at least you cannot deny Lawrence Sher's artistry in it
How did you make his name searchable??
Speaking as 1 of the 13 people who liked this film, the cinematography might've been my favorite part of it. Additionally, speaking as someone who not only works in the industry but is an aspiring DP, this was great.
cinematographer saved the movie its stunning in imax
It didnt save anything. Nothing could save that horrible film
@@ghosthuslergrow up
@@ghosthuslerRelax it’s just a movie.
@@ghosthusler It was a good movie, u r just tasteless
@@Gavin48 COPE harder, Todd. Film is the lowest rated comic book film of all time
This movie was beautiful.
Definitely deserves an oscar win for cinematography
This and Dune were exquisite. But I'd give it to Dune just for the sunless planet gladiator fight sequence. Unreal
He copied Micheal Chapman’s cinematography in Taxi Driver.
Lawrence Sher is just sooooo good at hes job bro its insane
Get you somebody that cares about you like cinematographers care about ratios & lens
I love the long time collaboration between this Director of Photog and his Director. I'm sure they now have a language of their own that is easy.
Very impressive cinematography
It's not the equiptment that matters, it is the movie
Hearing him talk about the film makes me wanna watch it again.
I can see why people maybe didn't love this movie, but it definitely *looked* amazing.
Beautiful.
HE SAID IT IS MUSICAL, HE SAID IT
He should be winning the Oscar next year. He is always been quite underrated. The Hangover was beautifully shot
i love the idea of not having marks and the freedom that gives to actors
George Lucas and team shot American Graffiti in a similarly loose and freeing way
this movie is a MASTERPIECE
No.
@@orka16605 Yes
Joker the musical earned CinemaScore of D. Lower than Madame Web, Morbius and Fantastic Four (2015).
"he was in the Amazon with my mom when she was researching spiders just before she died" is less cringe that every song in Joker the muscial.
Letterboxd 2.5
Imdb 5.3
Rotten Tomatoes 33% and 31%
@@orka16605 Children of Men, The Godfather, The Shawshank Redemption, Big Lebowski, Citizen Kane, Blade Runner, Mulholland Drive, Fight Club,....... all tanked at the box office and people hated it when they were released.
Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Gaugin, Edgar Allan Poe, Bukowski, Vermeer....all were recognised for what they're worth after their death. Not that I'm putting the film on the same plane, but just illustrating my argument.
Box office and validation of people doesn't mean shit for any work of art. They exist in a plane of their own.
In a generation where blind- hating on stuff without critical analysis is considered cool, the failure of the film reflects a lot on the general taste of audience than the content and presentation of the film itself.
So give it a chance if you can for the film, but please don't put the film in the "comic book / super hero" garbage bracket.
I loved it 🖤
Folie a Deux is outstanding, a masterpiece!
Masterpiece with a story that goes no where .
nope it wasn't
I really don't get the reviews. people can't endure a tragic movie and don't have ears for good musics. bashing the movie became a meme. all I see is Incel rage from their losing (non-existent from beginning)hero
I loved this movie. All of it.
From a weird film, Lawrence Sher should be the only one to win the Oscars for this film
this movie was everything!!! idc
Only good part of the movie was how well it was shot
and acting. :/
hating on stuff because other ppl told you they didn't like it, won't get you anywhere in life
@@Hefferr has nothing to do with anyone else’s opinion lol, saw it on opening night and it was objectively a bad film
Literally half the movie is bad songs(15 to be exact)
Nobody sounded good in any song, not even Grammy award winning lady Gaga
Everything felt unnecessary and forced
Only good parts were the opening animation, how well it was shot and when he died. That’s it. Everything else was pointless garbage
@@Burg0d wow nice opinion. how about you make a better movie then?
@@davilynch8611 true! Acting wasn’t bad
Just too many songs imo
This is more entertaining than the actual movie.
What a shame the sequel didn’t live up to the first movie.
📈📈
cinematics are great but movie is pointless but great job anyway
The only good that people can agree on for this film is the cinematography. Sorry your talents were wasted.
What was Todd thinking with the screenplay? Does he hate the audiences of the first film? Does he hate DC or WB? Or all of the above?
How much money has WB been paying Variety?
Joker: Folie à Poo
Hey Variety! I Hope a "Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken" sequel movie thanks to the 2023 Box-office Flop became Streaming hit on Netflix on February 2024, a Agatha Gillman prequel movie, a Webs and Diane Foxington spin-off movie, a third "The Bad Guys" movie, a "Bad Guys"/"Ruby Gillman" crossover movie and a Nerissa spin-off movie at Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Animation! Please, thanks.
The best part of an atrocious film
you dont need to "break-down" anything, movie sucks.
They messed up a classic movie making it a musical. This movie sucked💯%. They had a chance to bring DC comics movies back and ruined it. They keep redoing Batman movies and making them worse. DC hasn't put out a good or great movie in awhile. The Dark knight was the last great movie they had.
Extremely terrible movie and amongst the dumbest sequels made... Wasted potential ...
What a waste of resources
Get this weak musical out of my face / horrible movie glad I got my money back !
garbage movie
