One of the truly great football managers. As a kid I used to deliver his morning newspapers. Sometimes he'd be driving away from his house on his way to a morning's training and would stop for me to give him his papers in his car. The day after a match he'd have one of every newspaper... they weighed a ton and it was always a relief to unload half my delivery bag at his house. Other kids at school were well jealous tho!
I'm not a Spurs fan , but i still think that Bill was one of the greatest managers of all time. He was just as good as Shankly , Revie , Busby etc. The teams he managed were good to watch and played excellent football. He should have been knighted.
He showed more passion and desire for Spurs than our whole Spurs team for the entire season. Can't create, can't score, can't defend now. Bill would have destroyed our current crop of players if he seen the way we've been performing so far.
Spurs played a couple of friendly matches in Malta after the 1970 season and before the matches he came out of the dressing rooms distributing autographed pictures of the team! A great man and yet such a humble one. May he rest in peace.
Nicholson's 61 team lives up to Blanchflower's famous remark that it's about the glory. They were successful and glorious. Even after 63 years they still stand out. They fired my imagination even though I became a Man U fan, which, I think, carried on the style that Spurs set. His subsequent teams were great, too but the 61 was "lightning in a bottle". His memory is a blessing.
I met bill Nicholson at the 99 league cup Final , he was sitting behind me I couldn’t believe I was in the presence of greatness , and when Alan Neilson scores in the last minute I turned round and he had his stick in the air in celebration , if only I had the bottle to ask for his autograph but I shook his hand ! What a day ! Spurs the club that bill built ! Coys
First team to do the double in the 20th century and the first english team to win two european tropies...We were even the first british hooligans....COYS...Always make history and others follow...
Bill Nicholson a manager in charge. Not like these managers we have at Spurs today, where the players have the voice. Impossible for Bill to have ever lost the dressing room.
I was there but it was not the spurs supporters it was there supporters who kicked off in the paxton end pelting us with everything to hand and young school boys were pointing to our supporters to the police and our own police intervened on us. Do me a favour i saw it all
Two actually he was a player in 51 first British manager to win two European competitions and f a cups back to back that was at a time when all teams were near enough equal deserved a knighthood
Look at the competition he had! Not like EPL where one of 4 teams are contenders in any one season and, specifically, it was an era of great Man U, Leeds, Liverpool, Chelsea, West Ham, Ipswich, Everton and Man City teams. In the decade the only team to win 2 titles was the stellar Busby Man U team which had 3 European footballers of the year (Law, Best and Charlton) as well as many other brilliant players.
TWO people who should have been knighted Bill Nic and Bobby Moore legends.

I was born after his time but born into a Lilywhite existence. This man speaks to my soul.
COYS, Tottenham till I die!
It is not a question of like, though I pressed the button, it is about love for a man that was, no is, the soul of Tottenham Hotspur.
An absolute LEGEND of the very highest order. COYS!

Bill Nicholson and John Lyall were the unsung heroes (Coaches) behind Terry Venables and Englands success in the Euro 96 finals.
A special man a special club he’s the reason I’m a spurs supporter
RIP

Pat jennings, you didn't need a contract with Bill, shaking his hand was good enough, that's how it was then, unlike today.
After the 63 ECWC final Tottenham fell away somewhat and probably fell short of what they should have achieved for the next few years
I'm not a Spurs fan, but i.m.o Bill was as good if not better than Busby , Shankly ,Revie etc .He should have been Knighted
How do you knight God?
he should be knighted
I was there but it was not the spurs supporters it was there supporters who kicked off in the paxton end pelting us with everything to hand and young school boys were pointing to our supporters to the police and our own police intervened on us. Do me a favour i saw it all
why why the great man was never knighted
He'd be proud the way we played and felt utter contempt to chavski blagging the champions league parking the bus!?
So Spurs fans weren't worthy of him- shame on them.
??????

He only won one title !!! Just 1 mmmmmm
Two actually he was a player in 51 first British manager to win two European competitions and f a cups back to back that was at a time when all teams were near enough equal deserved a knighthood
