I believe you really would love Barbra's and Jackie Evancho's duet of the iconic Classic Somewhere, sung in the manner it was originally composed. You can find it with just a quick search of youtube.
Add to that a name called Lucy Thomas barely out of her teenage years but probably born with 1 of the purest voices and talent that is equal to the greats who came before her.
WOW! You saw Barbra Streisand live????? I'm so jealous. Her voice is a generational voice. It's so distinctive and so emotive. Her technique is amazing, too, especially her use of dynamics. Great reaction, Maggie!
She is genius at singing her note and inhaling through her nose simultaneously. That sounds impossible, to most people. Breath control is paramount. I love Barbra.
Do you realise how hard it is to sing "Somewhere"? Let alone this is her first opening number of the concert. You can tell that she was nervous esp. near the end but all the high notes are there. Only Barbra can sing Somewhere live as her warm-up number at the concert. But in her later concerts, "Somewhere" became her closing song.
I agree. Most don’t know that she sang her concert after dining and probably drinking with her Hollywood guests. This was filmed at her house since she was hosting a fundraiser. Most singers wouldn’t dare sing with a stomach full of food since they have to have expansion of their diaphragm for proper projection. She is also singing live in her backyard without the benefit of acoustics and walls to facilitate projection. Dang!! This is really impressive
Fell in love with her in a cinema in 1976. A Star Is Born. I was 15. My first experience of uncontrollable goosebumps. She has provided many, many more throughout my life. Waited another 40 years to see her live in London. She was perfect. There has been singers close...but not close enough for me. The best singer ive ever heard.
I don't usually like remakes of already classic songs. This however is an exception to the rule. Her rendition is breathtaking!! Gives me goosebumps every time!!!
This was a Fundraiser for Chernobyl! It was in her backyard in Malibu! Many Stars and Political People attended! I’ve been lucky enough to see Streisand 6 times, over the years! Expensive, but WORTH it!
When she sings, the verbs are something that I feel. In The Music of the Night she sings "falling" and I actually feel I am falling. Barbra has filled my life since 1964. My family fell in love with her and never stopped. When my mother was deep in dementia Barbra made her smile, every single time. She is the only person in this class. I love other singers; Ronstadt, Houston, Garland, Judith Durham, Frida Lyngstad, Agnetha Faltskog, and others. Love them. But Barbra is number 1 for me.
My favorite Barbra song is "Songbird" from 1978 . . . not to be mistaken with Christine McVie's "Songbird", which is an entirely different song . . . hope you'll listen to Barbra sing her "Songbird" . . . take care, Danny in Mississippi
If it hasn't been commented on...Barbra had TREMENDOUS STAGE FRIGHT and she has commented she was Very Nervous going into this performance..and I think you can hear it here. She just didn't enjoy performing LIVE anymore.
I had this whole concert on a cassette tape back in the days and this reaction gave me a reason to search for the complete concert. Didn't realize how much I'd miss it.
Im so glad to see you watched this. SHE IS FOREVER MY FAVORITE SINGER, EVEN THOUGH AS A YOUNGER SELF, MY FRIEND & I WOULD DRVE 21/2 HRS TO HER HPUSE AND STAND ON MY CAR AFTER BUZZING HERINTERCOM AND ask her to please come out and see us , the xameras would follow us and even after oh 100Xs she never came out ! We woukd go watch A Star is born over and over as soon as it was out at the movies, i think sonewhere @ 70Xs+ in a row. LoL but she didnt come out to see us, i even had my boyfriend waitingbinfront of my house on his 21st b-day because i was late coming back on one of our trips to LA to Barbaras lol oh well we were 16yr & 17yrs old but it was fun. Love her still even though . . .
I've seen her live twice. She is fantastic live. This song is from "West Side Story". It's a beautiful song. She has Stephen Sondheim add some lyrics for her. This was a concert done as a fundraiser in her own backyard.
One of her best album is her Classical Album and the one song that made me a life time fan, over 40 years now is the song Mother. Her voice and singing is absolutely amazing.
Barbra is 1 of the greatest female vocalists ever and to still have that range and power at age she would have been here, just pure magic. And when l think of/ see Barbra l think of Lucy Thomas - l mean it would be 1 of the greatest duets ever if it were to happen singing this what with Lucy has also done a off the scale amazing version of her own. Hearing those 2 sing would be truly memorable forever!
I can't believe You haven't heard her before. A love her voice. On of my favourite her songs is duo with Celine Dion - Tell him. But her performances in musicals are splendid, like Memory from Cats.
Today's youth have no idea who Barbra Streisand is or the extent of her career. That being said, I'd love to take a survey to see if they know who Judy Garland is......if not from the Wizard of Oz. I'd take a guess to say that they would know who Judy Garland is over Barb.
Tingles... always Tingles. Perfection... Her voice is perfection..... and a pretty darn good actress. Barbra Streisand and James Brolin make a wonderful couple...
Great reaction, Maggie. 👏👏 But now I'm even more perplexed that you've actually seen Barbra live, yet this is the only reaction you've ever done on your channel of her, that I could find. Hopefully that will change now... this woman's immense body of work should be visited often, and learned from. She's never had any professional training, yet she's a master of the art of delivering a lyric...as Barbra once said..."What comes from the heart, goes to the heart." She is in the moment at all times when singing, and with those God-gifted vocal cords... well nobody does it better. This "One Voice" concert has quite a few other outstanding performances..."Send In The Clowns," "Over The Rainbow," and the duet with Barry Gibb, "What Kind of Fool." Can't wait to see more Barbra reactions, Maggie, but if I may make just one little correction in the pronunciation of Barbra's last name... In the inimitable words of Barbra herself..."It's Strei-Sand...with an 'S'... like sand on the beach... My friend Liza is with a Z..." Again, great reaction!
Have you heard her song with Neil Diamond in ' You don't bring me flowers' . I heard that the two were in high school chorus together. With like 200 million records between them its got to be good!!!!!
It's great! Strongly recommend the live Grammy performance in 1980. It was a last minute addition and the artists had no time to rehearse except over the telephone. When they entered from opposite ends of the stage, an unexpected audience went ballistic.
This song is from West Side Story, Leonard Bernstein's interpretation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. The story of star-crossed lovers from opposing New York City gangs. So instead of the Capulets and the Montagues, we have the Sharks and the Jets. This song is about the hope Tony and Maria have for a future together as well as the hope of all to escape the New York City slums. Streisand takes this song to the next level. She turns it into a transcendent dream of a future for all mankind. This is my favorite Streisand song. Truly magical.
This was a fundraiser held behind her home in 1986. Chernobyl had happened a few months before and she had then established the Streisand Foundation to raise money for the environment, civil liberties, vets, etc. This was during the time she was still too frightened to do general admission concerts, but if people were donating money to a cause she believed in she could bring herself to perform--though she has said she'd still get sick with anxiety.
One aspect you could have talked about was how she has kept her native (Bronx, NY?) accent and the various vocal techniques she used to maintain & facilitate her accent. In taking voice lessons, singing in college and church choirs, I have lost my Southern accent unless I deliberately put it back in to my dialogue.
Loved "West Side Story" so many wonderful songs that have been covered throughout the years. Barbra has been my favorite female singer; there have many others through the years but Barbra remains #1. BTW, Johnny Mathis does wonderful covers of Tonight and Maria (on his album Faithfully released 1959).
Please, please, please....look at the in studio and official video of the song "Tell Him" duet of Barbara and Celine...you will not regret it. 2 fenom powerhouse singers together even more so!😊❤
It says first time hearing Barbara & this song 🥴 Yet you say You'v seen her live & you actually know the song & you sing it 🥴🙈 Steve from Queensland Australia 🇦🇺🏄♂️🍹 ps: It is a great song sung by a great woman & her voice ☺️👍
NEVER liked Barbara as a personality…. BUT also always considered her to have one of the top 10 female voices of the 20th century. Tone, texture, power - note for note always absolutely amazing !
I would sell a kidney to be able to see Barbra Streisand live in concert! I have LOVED her since I was a young girl. My mother had an album (vinyl) that I now own, along with several other BS albums. Her voice gives me goosebumps every time! My favorite songs are All in Love is Fair, My Heart Belongs To Me, Prisoner (The Eyes of Laura Mars), Comin' In and Out of Your Life, Tell Him (a duet with Celine Dion) and Woman In The Moon. Of course I love ALL her songs tho. There's not a song on the planet she can't sing beautifully. I asked for, and got, her new memoir (My Name Is Barbra) for Christmas. Thank you for doing a reaction on her. I hope to see more!?!?
Actually you're at least the third metal fan I've seen write on YT they liked Streisand. I find it fascinating! Though not metal, she sang some rock back in the 70s that was legit. "Don't Believe What You Read" and "Cabin Fever" from "Streisand Superman" (1977) are two good examples that she had the pipes. "Cabin Fever" has a bit of a Heart vibe.
Correction not he but she is Putri Ariani will go to AGT final on 5/9/23 how I wish watching her sing Somewhere of Barbra Streisand song in the next AGT beside her original song❤

Jackie Evancho!!!!!!! You will not be sorry. See my comment
the most vivid memory is Barbra Streisand - Woman in Love
I believe you really would love Barbra's and Jackie Evancho's duet of the iconic Classic Somewhere, sung in the manner it was originally composed. You can find it with just a quick search of youtube.
growing up no formal training of any kind just god given talent some are just born with it !
God gave us two amazing singers. Barbra Streisand and Karen Carpenter.♥️
**coughcough**celine**coughcough**
Add to that a name called Lucy Thomas barely out of her teenage years but probably born with 1 of the purest voices and talent that is equal to the greats who came before her.
Thing with Barbra is it’s so effortless.
So true...always since her early beginnings !
I love her phrasing, intonation and vocal range. Majestic.
The dynamics of her voice are unmatched in popular music.
There's something magical in her voice.
She has sooo much power and her vibrato is on another level
Barbra is just so adorable, can't help but love her!
The prettiest song from West Side Story.
This entire show is pure gold
First saw her on Judy Garland Show and fell down that rabbit hole forever.
I'm still falling...60+ years later. Never get enough.
WOW! You saw Barbra Streisand live????? I'm so jealous. Her voice is a generational voice. It's so distinctive and so emotive. Her technique is amazing, too, especially her use of dynamics. Great reaction, Maggie!
She was fantastic in concert--worth the $300 ticket.
She is genius at singing her note and inhaling through her nose simultaneously. That sounds impossible, to most people. Breath control is paramount. I love Barbra.
Barbara is like spreading butter on butter.
Buttah! Indeed.
It's BARBRA. 😊
Superb and unique vocal gift AND intelligence...a real theatrical genius, that is all.
Do you realise how hard it is to sing "Somewhere"? Let alone this is her first opening number of the concert. You can tell that she was nervous esp. near the end but all the high notes are there. She just was so easy. Never looked liked she was working hard to get those tones.
The ULTIMATE. Incomparable. Whitney. Mariah. Ariana. Celine. ALL owe their personal mastery to Streisand. Flawless.
How she makes it sound so smooth and easy to the ears ? No strains at all ❤️👍👍👍
Her intimate backyard concert..just beautiful!
I walked down the aisle to this song …❤️
You should watch Hello Dolly with Barbra Streisand and Michael Crawford (Phantom of the Opera).
Barbra is an absolute queen!
She was in her mid-forties at this performance, which means she was pretty much at the top of her game. All you can really say is "Brava."
She was slightly Past her Prime here..But there was a Strong Maturity in her mid 40s to mid 50s.
Gotta love Barbara. She’s one of the best.
*Barbra
Barbara Streisand is epic! I LOVE this performance and her voice. What a song and delivery. Gorgeous! Thank you for doing this one.
SO ANGELIC VOICE WOOOOOW, SUPER REACTION. LOVE FROM DENMARK
This is line. That’s why Barbara is the Goat
She's the greatest!
Another great Streisand performance: "My Heart Belongs to Me."
That live concert was videotaped in her backyard.
From the movie westside story, about 2 Brooklyn gangs.
She is the Queen!!!
I saw this when it was on tv live. It was a HUGE deal back then. 😊
What a voice!!!!
heard this first time in West Side story...she does a beautiful version here..what a voice....
😊🌺
I don't usually like remakes of already classic songs. This however is an exception to the rule. Her rendition is breathtaking!! Gives me goosebumps every time!!!
Barbra Streisand - Make Our Garden Grow You gotta see it.
Mom saw her in concert a few times. She was her favorite along with Neil Diamond and Air supply.
Love Neil too, and their duet on "You Don't Bring Me Flowers," especially the live performance at the Grammys in 1980, is sublime.
This was a Fundraiser for Chernobyl! It was in her backyard in Malibu! Many Stars and Political People attended! I’ve been lucky enough to see Streisand 6 times, over the years! Expensive, but WORTH it!

I saw Barbra in 2016, her last concert tour. I was in total awe, love her!
I believe she had a mini tour in 2019 too.
Saw her in London and in Dublin, really unforgettable concerts.
Listen to her and Jackie Evanco on their duet of this. It is magical.
If it hasn't been commented on...Barbra had TREMENDOUS STAGE FRIGHT and she has commented she was Very Nervous going into this performance..and I think you can hear it here. She just didn't enjoy performing LIVE anymore.
I love the version with her and Jackie Evancho.
David Foster wanted this recorded with synthesized keyboards ONLY. Nothing else but Babs’ voice on top. This is simply put; STUNNING.
Do more Barbra! 1960s to 2020s
I had this whole concert on a cassette tape back in the days and this reaction gave me a reason to search for the complete concert. Didn't realize how much I'd miss it.
I love every film she was in ❤
Im so glad to see you watched this. Holy crap...what a voice, the pipes! Love this from Westside Story...
"Shes so beautiful and happy", just like Maggie
I've seen her live twice. She is fantastic live. This song is from "West Side Story". It's a beautiful song. She has Stephen Sondheim add some lyrics for her. This was a concert done as a fundraiser in her own backyard.
Isn't she unbelievable? Just saw her duet with Johnny Mathis. I love them both so much. Real singers
The brass just before she starts singing is quoting "I've flown around the world in a plane" from "I Can't Get Started" by Duke and Gershwin 1936.
One of her best album is her Classical Album and the one song that made me a life time fan, over 40 years now is the song Mother. Her voice and singing is absolutely amazing.
More Barbra. "I Never Has Seen Snow" live on her TV special.
Barbra is 1 of the greatest female vocalists ever and to still have that range and power at age she would have been here, just pure magic. From a DVD called One Voice. A concert Barbara gave in her back garden in order to raise money for charity, well worth watching
Barbra IS the SUPREME VOICE !
Live! Way before any electronic enhancements were available! BRAVA!
This is from a DVD called One Voice. It was a charity performance in her back garden
I can't believe You haven't heard her before. A love her voice. On of my favourite her songs is duo with Celine Dion - Tell him. But her performances in musicals are splendid, like Memory from Cats.

It's from Westside Story, a movie and play from the 60s. Before Barbara. She's amazing.
Saw this concert when it came out, It was a huge event.
I love Barbara. Love this. I also love the way P J Proby sang this song.
I had the honor of attending her live concert in Orange County in the 90's. Sat in the floor section row 12 from the stage. ❤
Tingles... always Tingles. Perfection... Her voice is perfection..... and a pretty darn good actress.
Barbra Streisand and James Brolin make a wonderful couple...
I absolutely love this West Side Story cover from Barbra.
Love your graphics, background and overall reaction.....you appreciate great vocalists!
Thank you for this. One of my favourite songs. Love your reactions.
Thanks! I have loved Barbra's voice since Funny Girl. Loved your reaction to her performance and detailed analysis of how she sings.
THANK YOU so much!! More Babs coming your way next week. I APPRECIATE YOU!!! 💟🙏🌹
Are we surprised at finding one of the greatest singers of all time? Forget divas. She can blow your doors off.
Great reaction, Maggie. 👏👏 But now I'm even more perplexed that you've actually seen Barbra live, yet this is the only reaction you've ever done on your channel of her, that I could find. Love the amazing ‘Somewhere’ since the first time
I watched the movie of Natalie Wood in childhood
OMG!!
This just gives me flashbacks to doing West Side Story as my senior play.
Absolutely gorgeous! Love the song and she crushes this song. Might need to request this one more :D Great job Maggie!
Thank you!! 😊🙏💟
Barbra Streisand? Please listen "Make It Like A Memory". 🎶🎵
Wow! 💜
Legendary.

I found your channel because of your metal reactions. But I've always also been a Streisand fan as well. Is that possible?
Yep!! 😜🤘

Take a look at AGT 2023, see and see Princess Ariani's reaction. He's from Indonesia, maybe it can surprise you a little.
Correction not he but she is Putri Ariani will go to AGT final on 5/9/23 how I wish watching her sing Somewhere of Barbra Streisand song in the next AGT beside her original song❤
React to her closing song to the movie yentl. Both movie version and her concert finale. Absolutely incredible.
The Supremes Did An Absolutely Fantastic Version Of “Somwhere” !
