- Dorset has been named the most popular county in England to visit and as we had never been before, we had to pay a visit to find out why.
Join us and our friends @TheMagicGeekdom as we walk the Dorset countryside to see one of the county's most iconic landmarks Old Harry Rocks, white chalk stumps and stacks that stick out in to English Channel. We then start our adventure along the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, starting with a visit to see some real dinosaur footprints!
The next day we head to Lyme Regis where we take to fossil hunting on the beach in the most amateur way possible, before enjoying a chilled evening and cream tea at our AirBnB.
On our third and final day in Dorset we make a quick stop at the Osmington White Horse before hiking from Lulworth Cove (up a massive hill) to one of Dorset and England's most iconic natural landmarks, Durdle Door.
This is an adventure not to be missed as we discover the real reason Dorset is just so popular!
Recorded April 2023 at:
- Dorset, England

Who & what is JJ Extra?
We’re Josh & Jason, a British couple with a passion for everything travel & food (and lots of coffee). Whether at home in the UK or on our international travels we seek out everything from hidden gems to bucket list destinations, trying new foods and unique drinks wherever we go.
After meeting in early 2019 with dreams of travelling the World together we were all plunged in to the chaos of a global pandemic. Now, as we move in to the future we are making up for lost time and ensuring every day turns in to an adventure, fuelled by our love of food and an unhealthy (but enjoyable) addiction to coffee.
Over the last 2 years we have explored our beautiful home country like never before and in 2022 we were lucky enough to start travelling abroad once more and our dream to travel the world together has been reignited.
We love an adventure and in 2023 we are challenging ourselves to step out of our comfort zones & push ourselves to the limit as we take on bigger adventures than ever before, visit new places & try new experiences. So come along and join the adventure, you never know where it might lead!

We've just been to Dorset (spent 3 days as well) we loved it! Oh wow you bumped into The Magic Geekdom! We loved the dinosaur footprints (also felt the same about cows!!). What a perfect afternoon, fossil hunting. Love Lulworth cove too! Cheers 🍻
Sounds like you had an amazing few days. We are friends with The Magic Geekdom so we were actually on a long weekend with them 😂
Dorset is so lovely.
Those ice creams looked like a nice treat too x
Can’t believe we had never been before! Oh yes, that ice cream was the reward we needed 😊
Are UA-camrs going to start having turf wars?
Not selling ice creams but competing in the eating!
Thanks for sharing your Dorset adventures.
You certainly packed a lot into your time there.
Great video guys
Such a beautiful place and yes, we certainly didn’t rest too much 😂
Hey guys! Another enjoyable video. Did you check out the castle? I took a day trip from London in summer 2022. It was funny because that was the only day it rained during my 3 weeks in London. I did the reverse I walked from Durdle Door to Lulworth Cove. I wanted to try fossil hunting but I am glad I didn't bother. The UK really has some amazing sights that so many people miss out on. Happy Travels.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. We didn’t get time to check out the castle but it’s definitely on our to do list when we return to Dorset in the future. We really loved the fossil hunting but not sure it would have been as much fun in the rain 😂
Glad I stumbled upon your channel. So fun to follow along your adventures. ❤
Hi Stina, we’re glad you found us too and that you’re enjoying the videos 😊
Coffee! In joy your vids so much, the locales, the chat, all of it. But thank god you always include coffee places.
Thanks for your support Thomas. We are really happy to hear you are enjoying the videos and don’t worry, there will always be coffee! 😃
Thanks!
Thank you for the enjoyable video! I myself only visited Dorset a few years ago for the first time. Went to Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Swanage and Corfe Castle! While the UK might not be perfect, we do live in a beautiful country 🙂
We have visited some really stunning places in the UK so we totally agree. Dorsey was beautiful, so much more for us to go back and see still!
Great trip to Dorset
It was and our first time, will definitely be back!
My home county (i was born in Bournemouth). Surprised you didn't go to see the Cerne Abbas Giant - always a joy to see 😉
Oh we know all about that but have never seen it in person…. One day 😂
Interesting visit finding fossils. It made me remind some Hills near home. Zonda Hills in Argentina. You can find trilobites everywhere.
Regards, from Home. Like your vids a lot
Hello Jorge, we had a lot of fun finding fossils. It would be great to visit Argentina one day! We are happy you are enjoying the videos 😊
You are invited when you want to come
It is NOT Englands most popular county !
We went with the results of a YouGov poll as we mentioned at the start of the video but appreciate there are many others with different results. Which county do you think we should check out?
@@JJExtra What about a trip to Paris ?
Haha slightly different to an English county but we are not opposed to the idea 🤔
