- In this episode of my series “ Walks in Dorset”, I take a 4.5 mile circular walk from Osmington Mills (on the Jurassic Coast) to Redcliff Point & up to Osmington. Once again I am accompanied by my Whippet, Logan.
I park my car in a (free) lay by in the road leading up to the “pay & display” car park at The Smugglers Inn, Osmington Mills and start my walk heading Westwards along the South West Coast Path.
After passing “Goggin's Barrow” & an Adventure centre, I drop down on to the beach to the East of Redcliff Point - where there is an old WW2 Pillbox to explore!
Back on the South West Coast Path - and just before Redcliff Point, I head inland and in a North Easterly direction - uphill - towards the village of Osmington.
Coming in to Osmington I get a great view of the White Horse carved into the side of a hill to the North.
After a wander around the pretty village and a quick look at the church (inside & out), I head South again, picking up the South west Coast Path back to Osmington Mills and my final destination - The Smugglers Inn.
NB: I should have removed my cap when I was in the church - please accept my apologies for the oversight.

Wonderful village and the trails are great through out the countryside

It was called the picnic in victorian days ,the late percy miller ran it and it was sold to ken patten and later to a ted burton from bournmouth who changed the name .the thathed stonetex part on the left used to be a lawn ,o remember being detailed off as a youngster to cut the grass whilst my parents enjoyed a lunchtime session with percy miller as an old osmintonion i now live in america ,thanks for the memory ,first time i got plastered was in the picnic after haymaking 😂😂😂😂,joclyn woods was our vicar lovely fella this is my old home 😊 letterbox cottage was the village store with mr brown i could tell you so much more but my finger is hurting 😂😂😂

@@DaveFord yes it was sardines on toast 😁 debs xx
We often walk to Islington Mills from Bowleaze Cove for a pint in the Smugglers, but might be encouraged to explore the surroundings away from the coast path there having watched this. Thanks for giving us so many great videos and new ideas!
The Smugglers is certainly a great pub for sure!
Thank you both for a lovely walk around our locality. Keep up the great videos guys 👍
Thank you Matt.
Hi dave yet another very enjoyable video
Thank you Craig.
What a beautiful walk, and how lovely those thatched houses look in the sunshine. Our nearest white horse is the White Horse of Kilburn, North Yorkshire, which is riderless. Thanks for a great video.
Thank you. There are so many beautiful cottages in Osmington - it is a delight to walk through.
Very nice Dave, as usual some lovely countryside and interesting content. Thanks for sharing....Paul 👍👍

Thanks Melissa. :)
Hello Dave, such a lovely walk that ‘Osmington Mills’ & Jurassic Coast. The Sailing vessel were the ‘Sail Training Ship’, ‘Tenacious’ currently Portland based. That Pint looked good Dave after your walk 🥵🥵🙂🙂
Hi Peter. Yes, that pint was a great way to end the walk for sure! Thanks for watching.
Such a beautiful and peaceful area even though it's not far from the hustle and bustle of Weymouth. Hope Logan was given more than just the one crisp!
Oh yes indeed, Logan has his own supply of dog treats as well!
Glad you managed to "smuggle" a pint at the end Dave (see what I did there?). Perhaps you should start a separate Playlist of "Dave's Fursty Ferret Quest"!
Excellent work as usual, your walks, particularly the Dorset ones, bring back many happy memories of times past for me and, I'm sure, many others. I live just south of Bristol but Dorset was always the goto location for coastal walks and pub lunches afterwards. Heaven!
Thank you. I seem to be gradually ticking off all the Hall & Woodhouse pubs!
@@DaveFord Not a H&W pub, but in the same area as the Smugglers, I heartily recommend The Sailor's Return at Chaldon Herring as a start for a walk to the coast and back.
This brings back memories, another one of my favourite walking places back in the seventies, many thanks for sharing another one of your beautiful videos Dave.
Thank you. It is such a lovely section of the South West Coast path around there.
Yet another lovely video, Dave. I'm back from spinal injury and the first walk for four months today was your walk in Minstead! Have a great weekend!
Thank you. Glad that you are recovering - I hope that you get to enjoy some more walks soon.
Another great film Dave and Logan. I'm part of a walking group from Lymington, The Onioneaters, and we walked to Osmington Mills and had lunch at The Smugglers two years ago. Other members of my group are always sarcastic when I stop to talk to dogs and owners and leave me to catch up which I am happy to do. As a pilot with my own aeroplane I revisited the walk at 1500 feet a few days later at a time when the liners were anchored up in Weymouth Bay. This gives a different perspective of the area. ua-cam.com/video/675WphCgC00/v-deo.html I look forward to more of your films, they are a good source of inspiration for our walks, thanks.
Thank you. Your video certainly does show a great view of the area for sure!
Tut tut one should remove thee hat when in church, jolly good program
Thank you.
