Ramsgate looks like a nice place to visit. The quaint streets and stores look interesting. Can’t wait to see the tunnels.

I had a three day holiday in Canterbury this week and visited Ramsgate, with hindsight I should have stayed in Ramsgate and done Canterbury as a day trip. Also visited Margate which didn't have as much character. Besides the biggest Wetherspoon it has two excellent micro pubs which I won't name in case you think I'm connected with them and trying to advertise. Ramsgate also easy on your legs: excellent bus 'The Loop' which runs every 10 minutes from the railway station to the harbour.

Ramsgate brings back so many happy childhood memories.
Use to holiday in Ramsgate in the 1970's
Great to see that after so many years Ramsgate are finally renovating the old
Fun fair/ Amusement complex with luxury new apartments.
It had been sitting empty for years.
    👍👍😁

I have only ever driven through Ramsgate, but you found some beautiful areas, the flowers at the top were so pretty. What a lovely day you had as well. I thought the green water and none working waterfall let the area down, shame I am sure with clean water and the waterfall working it must look spectacular. Glad you had such a good day. Great vlog as usual.

I lived in ramsgate near that ‘waterfall’ it’s beautiful even in the winter I remember one year walking the dog on the beach a few days before Christmas. I’m sure I remember people filling the waterfall with bubbles or something. Jason is correct the funfair used to be where those new apartments are. There also used to be years and years ago an amusements owned by the guy who had rotunda think his name was something like jimmy godden he was my landlord when I first moved out to dover lol

Love Ramsgate. Visit often. I might have a photo of the waterfall if your interested and I can find it. The town is a bit tired but there's lots of work going on trying to regenerate it. Not sure if architecture is your thing but there are some beautiful squares in Ramsgate with regency houses. Liverpool Lawn, Vale square and Spencer square. All worth a look but there is a bust of Vincent Van Gogh in Spence square where he lived for a short time. Also Grange house which can be visited by appointment where Augustus Pugin lived. He was a famous architect who was involved with rebuilding the Palace of Westminster after a fire in 1847. Near there is a famous church which is worth s visit (sorry can't remember the name off the top of my head). Think Christians first landed on the Thanet coast. Where you parked your car if you walk the other way to Pegwell Bay there are two beautiful pubs right on the cliffs overlooking the sea. If you walk a little further there is a Viking ship! Finally a little out of the town is Ellington park. About a 10 minute walk but it's beautiful. As you can see I love this place!!

My Grandparents Lived right up by those Gardens in fact in one shot you can see the corner building this was also when the rock candy factory was still open and you could smell it was sooo good, use to watch the Ramsgate Ferries sail out from up there and cargo ship going pass.
Those steps where ones I always used to get down to the Arcade that use to be in that pavilion. And yes that is where the Fun Fair use to be with also a huge Arcade and a swimming pool along that way. Also can't believe that boating pool is still there this brought back so many memory's thanks :) I love Ramsgate but now live in the USA but if we ever go back this has always been the place I would like to live.
Oh Fun fact my Dad and his friends when they where kids put a load of soap in that water fall thing and had soap suds ruling down the hill lol

I was born and brought up in Ramsgate. I have to say it is a mere shadow of what it was back in the 60's, and went slowly downhill from then on. However, I do think it's hit the bottom and is now slowly but surely coming back up in the World, from the Harbour area outwards, after many decades of mismanagement some great local people and entrepreneurs are doing some amazing things. It has a fascinating history and this video is showing it at its best, a little bit emotional tbh, many memories, could post so much about the places on this video. Thankyou chaps for a great video and giving the old place a richly deserved pat on the back 👍

It seems the waterfall in Ramsgate has had a rough few years,. On several occasions, over the past few years, several bottles of soap were emptied into the water and chaos bubbled up. Then last year, it was determined that other repairs were needed. But, apparently the falls were home to endangered newts, so work had to wait until colder weather. Not sure if they are still off due to newts, but it also seems financial issues may be an on-going problem. I write from Ithaca, NY, so on-line info may not be providing full picture.

Ramsgate is lovely in the sunshine with the sandy beach and a nice ice cream. Love the seafood from the stall that you got yours from. Eating on the verandah at the Wetherspoons is nice, but be prepared the seagulls watch your every move hoping for a piece of your dinner 😂

I remember having a holiday there in a guest house when I was about 6 or 7 [mid 1960s], and a year later one in nearby Cliftonville. During my later childhood, adolescence and young adulthood Thanet was a frequent summer day trip destination although did not have another holiday there until 2016.
Another thing, I remember a large family restaurant in the north part of the seafront, called Harrisons, I think. It had been demolished before my 2016 visit.

I went to visit Ramsgate last yr from Bristol for the 1st time ( IM A NORTHERNER from Manchester that moved to Bristol 18 yrs ago to be with my partner) to see his goddaughter and his friend who moved down there from London to run another pub ...! I loved the place and IF you didn't get to go in the Brasserie you should have done! The food was great (we went in on an afternoon) a TAD on the expensive side (and small portions like you would get in an ala cart restaurant or on a cruise ship) BUT well worth it! ...they don't give you a menu it's all chalked up on an old roller-style school chalkboard so you have to take a pic of it so that when you sit down you can remember what they are serving that day! Maderia walk and the gardens are lovely the water fall is victorian and MAN made not real rocks! we passed it every morning coming from our hotel on victoria parade down to the harbour and sea front ....also worth a visit is the tunnels on the sea front that was originally a railway link / tunnel to the sea front and was then used as air raid shelters in the 2nd world war! the Station USED to be were those new sea front apartments that you filmed being built before that it was anidoor funfair amusment place till it burt down and was left as a vacant lot for yrs after
