Hi I have a 100 gallon fish tanks and I loved the video but I don’t like that girl that always talks I like when you talk and also when you say don’t do this but your doing it to your fish tank to tell people
I literally did this yesterday..............................................................smh........................Wooohoo! Another tank.... Have excuse to purchase more fish! ( and stuff ).......
Lisa, I have to tell you something... Over a year ago when I was still lurking, you were the first person who inspired me on UA-cam with bettas! You were also where I learned that you could keep a betta sorority. I started off watching one or two videos before I found you guys, Prime Time Aquatics, and so many more!! Y'all's videos are what got me going in this community! I love your collection of beautiful bettas!! By the way, Did I ever tell you thank you? Well...Thank you!!🙏🌱🐟🌱
I remember, the day I came home to my 20 gallon community tank filled with guppies, and I enjoy just watching my fish and so when I was watching them, I saw two little creatures moving behind a plant, I looked closely and realized that those were guppy fry. Changed the whole experience for me, and just made the hobby much more interesting for me. Loved it!
Me too.. I've changed my hobby since the lockdown. No more makeup tutorials.. And now I'm into aquariums hahaha Ive given him a nice list for possible Xmas gifts.. Hehehe. This hobby is so cool.
I’m up to 8 aquariums 2-55 gallons between my boyfriend and I since pandemic. We dove head first into this hobby and LOVE IT. I can’t believe we never did it before and I can’t imagine not doing it again. We keep everything from white clouds to guppies to gouramis to angels. My boyfriend made the mistake of housing yo-yo loaches with our high end guppies and we’ve just now finally gotten them rehome. Cannot wait to see these guppies thrive! Purple and red dragon mosaics!
I set up an aquarium in my bedroom & every morning I'd sit up & look at it & lay back down. One morning as l lay back down it clicked & I was up like a shot, I had lots of baby guppies .I certainly didn't sleep after that, I was 2 excited. 👍💕🇦🇺
The only "designer" nano tank that I've used and liked, and would recommend for someone who just wants a cute simple 5 gallon for a betta and some low maintenance plants is the marineland portrait 5 gallon aquarium. The built in filter and light is sufficient for the aforementioned setup and only requires a heater to be added; I like the pet supplies plus heater for this. Add some fluval stratum, a piece of dragonstone or driftwood, some plants and you're good to go. Of course there are better lights and filters and everything when you do it custom, but for a tank for a desk or similar situation it is a good option!
That's the one I just set up. So far no fish, but it seems to be a perfect size and look for the bookcase. I'm thinking betta....but i have a few weeks to decide.
If you don’t like the sponge filter taking up room on the substrate you could always buy the sponge filter that has suction cups that stick to the back of the tank I run one in my 6 gallon betta tank and I lost no space in planting and hardscaping and plus the filtration is great and my betta buddy jewel loves it. Just for anyone that wants a sponge filter but don’t want it on the ground in the background!
This week, I found a sale on 5-gallon kits at Petsmart for $30 each: tank, filter, light. I nabbed 2 of them. I have extra heaters. Can't beat a price like that! 5 gallon is the perfect tank for a shrimp colony, small fish, betta and a quarantine/hospital tank. I may not use the filter that came with each tank, but you need spare filters if you have multiple tanks. I broke down a leaky 29 gallon into a 20 gallon and 2 5 gallons; perfect for my shrimp, endlers, guppies and snails. And plants!
I stsrted with a 5 Gal Guppy Aquarium and upgraded to 10. As time goes by we should become more conscious that just like birds need space to fly and not be in cages, fish need space to swim, hide, and go about their business :) Thank you for the video!! you guys helped me a lot!!!
Love the Sicce Micron! I put one in the 10 gallon betta tank I set up for my housemate, and have the Micron Nano in one of my 5 gallon tanks. One caveat though, at least that I've noticed: because it's a motor running inside the tank, it does add warmth in a 5 gallon. Watch the temperature and adjust your heater accordingly, especially if the tank is in a warm room, has lighting geared to medium or high-light plants, or is tightly covered.
I’ve recently set up a small aquarium in my bedroom (ran outta room in the lounge room lol) and I’m putting in some emerald green guppies which should arrive any day. So thanks guys once again for all your advice and ideas on set ups for small tanks. Stay safe and love from Australia
I use the Fluval Nano 3.0 on my 5 gallon and it works great. Bought it new for $75. It dims and it's fully programmable. Just thought I'd throw that out there since you said a dimming one would cost $200+. I've also been able to grow pretty high-light demanding plants such as Ludwigia Pantanal Amd AR Mini with it.
I got a 5 gallon but nothing in it right now it’s just a planted tank. Only tank I got fish in for now is my 75. Y’all have made me a better fish keeper. Not that I was bad I’m just better now. Tank y’all a million times!!
I just set up a 5 gallon tank to play around with the Dutch style aquascape. The plants are doing great. I want to add shrimp and snails at some point. Thanks so much for this timely video!
I loved this video! I’ve been watching a lot of these top ten videos and this one is probably up there as one of the best ones you’ve made yet! I’d love to see more iterations of the video for other common tank sizes, like 10 or 20 gallons. Really nice to have such quality, concise information in one video!
Im super new to fishkeeping but have experience with photography, a tip if you have led light with out a dimmer feature, use thin material to filter out the strong light, i personally use a simple tissue paper and you can add more layers to dim the light more
My first fish were two bettas gifted to me by someone who just couldn't be bothered any more. They were both in a tank that was not even a full gallon (about 0.8 gallons), with a divider. There was some substrate, but nothing else in the tank. These fish were kept like this for an entire year. I didn't know anything about owning fish, but I was quite sure that was an unsatisfactory situation, so I immediately went and bought some one gallon tanks so they could each have their own space with at least a little bit of decoration. I would then graduate them to 2.5 gallon tanks, and finally 10 gallon tanks. So now I have some 1 and 2.5 gallon tanks sitting around unused. The 1 gallon tanks have proved useful for highly temporary purposes like epsom salt baths and for quarantining and medicating a fish for a spell, but I have so many tanks that I would like to do something more with them. You start here with 5 gallon tanks, but is there anything that can be done with even smaller tanks, other then keeping them handy as temporary holding tanks when needed?
I just got some ember tetras for my 10 gallon tank. I LOVE them! I was thinking about putting them with Chili Rasboras and shrimp but I am enjoying these little guys so much I might just end up having all embers!
You should do a video on fish and the vertical water water column for example like a 75 gallon vertical tank and how to pick out fish that would swim above in the middle of the bottom dwellers. Love the vids keep up the good work.
Thanks to your videos ive now got my first fish! A feisty little doubletail halfmoon betta i picked up today. Thanks for teaching newbies like me how to best care for our fishie friends!
If I get anymore tanks and fish I’m going to have to sell my tv to have somewhere to put it lol. Just rescued an opaline gourami can’t wait to breed her
I plan to be a rebel 😁 I will soon start my 8 gallon tank, and the fish that got my attention the most of the ones that might thrive there, is the ember tetra. We have them in the store where I work, and once I started looking at them, I really started to like them. They're both cute and beautiful!
Thank you for doing this video. OMG ai am so doing a Beta 5 or maybe 10 gallon aquarium. I so appreciate that you link your website and products for purchase. You make this so easy and I realllllly appreciate it. I'm a newbie and need all the help I can get. I love your beta's Lisa ♥
aquariums are addicting and you grow out of them fast 🤣 I went from a 3 to a 5 to a 15 and now I’m working on a 75 🤣🤣❤️❤️❤️ I love the live plant hobby 😻😻😻
I started with succulents.. then house plants, hummingbird feeders, then got sold 4 gold fish for my 6.5 gallon tank.. now I have a 20g for 2 goldfish and am purchasing a 30g for the other 2 ! And now I have water plants too! Help me!
For lighting, the Asta 20, aka Lominie F20. I've been using two of them for years on everything from a 2.5 gallon tank to my current 29 gallon. Insane light production if you want it, and if you don't, just turn it down. It's like a mini Kessel.

Best shrimp to start with are any of the Neocaridinia davidii color forms like cherries , blue velvet or diamond , yellow , jade , etc. the breed easily and are readily affordable. No need to special water conditions.
Thanks for the video you guys I have a 5 gallon tank I used to have set up years ag i've never done anything with it again it's been sitting in the closet for about 5 or 6 years i've been thinking about setting it back up adding a betta fish to it still undecided you guys be blessed
This is perfect! I have a 1.5 gal tank that I got from a friend, but I knew it wasn't safe or big enough if I wanted to try aquascaping with a beta fish!
I have several Aqueon 5 gallon mini-bow's. They are really nice aquariums for the price. I "hot-rodded' the filter systems & the inhabitants are fairly heavily stocked. Interestingly enough, some of the mini-bow aquariums of mine are actually among the most stable in water parameters, in comparison, even with my other larger aquariums. Great video, John & Lisa. 👍
And suddenly, I subscribed upon hearing Breaking Benjamin. Thank you for putting together this video, it's helping me with choosing out what tanks to get at the moment.
Perfect timing!!! I just got my sister a 6.5 G for her birthday (b-day is Halloween) for a shrimp tank. She wants live plants. So these are wonderful suggestions.
We don't have these great kids like they do in America you can order them online but you typically I just get a glass aquarium that has curves it's a nice good solid chunk of glass it's not really easy to break
I have 2 5.5g tanks that each house 1 male betta. I use Tetra HOB filters for them and have good luck. I also have 20 something Ember tetras in quarantine for my 29g. I love the 5.5g tank size.
if you ask me the worst thing about any tank below ten gallons is a lid... They just straight up don't make lids for most sizes that small. And if they do they are legit a pane of glass with a handle (which good luck getting an airtube in or a filter)
hi forever fish lover, new-by fish keeper w/ a 5.5 gal who ALSO LOVES BREAKING BENJAMIN (ember tour specifically changed my life) & i WILL be beginning my tank with ember tetras & abiding by ur rules
Top Fin makes some great five-gallon kits! I got the five-gallon dazzle set and it has the perfect filter for a betta. My fish swims all around and has no problems with no adjustments. However, it didn't come with a heater or a thermometer, but you can pick the sets up at PetSmart on sale for a great price.
One thing about these small tanks is if it comes with a filter that goes inside the tank it creates alot of heat. My top fin 5 gallon aquarium came with one of these filters and the temp in the tank is 85 degrees.. which of course sets which type of fish I can put in it.
I just listened to Feed the Wolf 🐺 for the first time...nothing happened. I was so excited for my world 🌎 to change and nothing happened 😭. Anyway I love the way you and your wife are so excited for this hobby. I wish my wife was I to martial arts so that she could be in my videos. Anyway great video and now I'm thinking about getting a 5 gallon aquarium and ember tetras. Going to get the moss bridge and make a river out of gravel just like show in the video. Thanks
I'm planning on doing a volcano theme for my new Betta when I get him. DEFINITELY going to cycle, use a sponge filter for filtration and a python hose for ease of water changes, I'm not losing another buddy!

I really like the style of the plants you had in the video. I thinks it's very pretty when they grow all over the place, it feels natural.
My bettas love the fast flowing water. I have a massive tank with dead spots for them everywhere but they love to challenge the flow of the water.

hi forever fish lover, new-by fish keeper w/ a 5.5 gal who ALSO LOVES BREAKING BENJAMIN (ember tour specifically changed my life) & i WILL be beginning my tank with ember tetras & abiding by ur rules
The breaking Benjamin reference is wild ❤
Top Fin makes some great five-gallon kits! I got the five-gallon dazzle set and it has the perfect filter for a betta. My fish swims all around and has no problems with no adjustments. However, it didn't come with a heater or a thermometer, but you can pick the sets up at PetSmart on sale for a great price.
Thanks for the Breaking Benjamin recommendation!! Awesome stuff!
Love this video😃
ohmyyy I LOVEEEE BETTA's!!! and currently learning how to breed, groom and moreEEEEEEE
One thing about these small tanks is if it comes with a filter that goes inside the tank it creates alot of heat. My top fin 5 gallon aquarium came with one of these filters and the temp in the tank is 85 degrees.. which of course sets which type of fish I can put in it.
Good information
I just listened to Feed the Wolf 🐺 for the first time...nothing happened. I was so excited for my world 🌎 to change and nothing happened 😭. Anyway I love the way you and your wife are so excited for this hobby. I wish my wife was I to martial arts so that she could be in my videos. Anyway great video and now I'm thinking about getting a 5 gallon aquarium and ember tetras. Going to get the moss bridge and make a river out of gravel just like show in the video. Thanks
Feeding time must be so exciting for your fish
I'm planning on doing a volcano theme for my new Betta when I get him. DEFINITELY going to cycle, use a sponge filter for filtration and a python hose for ease of water changes, I'm not losing another buddy!
Did you get him or is he still alive?
