The worst thing about this review is that I had to check which studio actually developed this because of how much the UI was reminding me of Phantasy Star Online 2. They're unrelated but it still threw me for a loop.
The network test for gundam breaker 4 was a good one. Its basically gundam breaker 3 again with additional customisation options and improved combat... wich in all honesty is the best we can expect from bandai i guess?
This is literally all anyone wants from GB4, an updated 3 with more parts, improvements that don't wreck what GB3 is and modern graphics. We're not asking for the wheel to be reinvented.
@@klqeast No, you also dont need to deposit them in a chest either. Its the same system that they used in breaker 3. You pick em up and they are in your inventory for good. Though if you loose the mission you might loose most of the stuff you collected, i think thats how that worked in breaker 3
"Yeah it was a Bad idea. But I'm back." -Gundam Breaker 4 denouncing Nu and just showing up with a Demo on a Nintendo Direct Casually *BREAKING EVERYONE'S MINDS FROM NOWHERE*
yes... most glorious idea of it: "HeY! I liked New Gundam Breaker when I played it, but I should preface it with the following I had Gundam Breaker 2 on ps3 before my console died I could never find Gundam Breaker 3 at the time for less than scalper prices And my internet didnt support GBO2 So I am literally in the camp of "I kinda like this because I cant get anything better" I am no longer in this camp, but NGB has a strange spot in my heart because it was there for me when I didnt have the other options. It is kinda like that friend who is terrible in every way, but when you had no one else, they were there.
The best thing about NGB is all the kits it introduced, which then came to GB4. I mean, say what you will, but kits like the Nightengale have tons of potential.
I imported gundam breaker 3 and bought a second hand ps4 for it (and bloodborne) and i played it for almost 100 hours. I refunded new gundam breaker after 30 minutes and went back to gb3.
It's almost impressive how much more fondly I've seen people talk about the mobile gacha game than I have of this one. I am of said people, granted, but still.
I've been playing Armored Core 6 for awhile, and looking at this game's HUD hurts my eyes. Coming from a complex, but very streamlined HUD, to THE COLORS, DUKE, THE COLLOOOORS!!
I remember the the game was so shit that the Japanese community actually bought and played Gundam breaker 3 in spite. One of my pet peeves with the game is that the funnels don't actually track and surround your enemy, they only deploy and shot right beside your Gunpla
22:07 Im still listening here...... Because I didnt finished the story lmaooo But yeah... Gundam Evolution getting shutdown by bandai make a hole in my chest So I instantly purchase GB4 GBO2? The P2P connection is always shitty, Im stuck at Penalty lv2 since forever Many times I "left the match" while my connection is 4 bars
New Gundam Breaker was so sad. Namco would have been better off just officially porting Breaker 3 to the west, since it was already localized in english for Asia region. That would have made more money and not give the west such a bad representation of Breaker series. I'm glad the upcoming Breaker 4 is ignoring this game completely and building on Breaker 3.
You forgot to mention how the maps change in the different routes mainly the forest map i fucking hate that map there is usually a launch pad to shoot you back in the hole to deposit the parts but on certain routes the launch pad is gone and you have to run a 3 minute run to deposit your parts
I'll admit New was my first Breaker game, so i actually enjoyed it at first, till i picked up 3 and realized the what i was missing lol. But even then New wasn't all bad, the Shinon route actually made me want to build a proper Red Comet suit to go with her route, and as such a favorite gunpla of mine, the Shionju, was born... just in time to beat the perverted bully into submission LOL
The heck is with that “ADHD Corner” thing? I have ADHD & Autism, and I just hate random stuff like that; it supposedly helps to pay attention, but in my experience…IT DOES THE EXACT OPPOSITE! It’s really distracting/annoying, and it’s blocking part of the screen. I have enough trouble paying attention to stuff as it is, you don’t need to make it MORE difficult.
Because "realism" and "balance" are definitely vital for highschool harem, not "stylish" or "broken" as in power fantasy.🙃 So what are we playing again?
I platinumed this shit, waited till the extra mission for the model i wanted was released (the very last one) and after building the model i wanted, uninstalled and went back to GB3BE. NGB litterally only has one game mode, just you have one, or even two allies. funnel, bit, etc weapons lock you in place (often times getting you killed) and miss 99.987" of the time. the best build I tried was, no joke, not changing the default parts at all. the basic gundam was better than any more advanced model ever was. the building was okay, but it constantly pissed me off, because you see a Blue frame with the tactical arms, but the tactical arms is not available in game... one of my favorite just for fun weapons in GB3. was so angry, i bought TWO 1/60 tactical arms models to cope. i dont own any other 1/60, so they are atm decorations for my PC at work :) option parts are worthless in NGB as if you need to switch a part, because yours got destroyed, the option parts stay where they were and now look aweful. enemies always started with their abilities and would b-line me in every round, making getting exp to even be able to fight back even harder and longer. the best part of the story is hidden, about the psycho girl (who shows up in the GB battloge) went psycho AND was humbled because she was beat by a shopping district rep (GB3 protag) cant remember anything else as it was way to generic and bland Robota from GB3, a litteral robot, had more charisma than the entire NGB cast put together. GB4 looks promising. a friend of mine got into the network test and he said it was like GB3 but improved. lookin forward to it
I know you had some slightly positive things to say about the gameplay, but I think that might have been because you were playing on PC. The PS4 had horrendous framerate issues, and it didn't matter if you were playing on the original or the Pro. As for the customization, it felt far more limited than GB3 to me. The frames, for starters, felt like the game was trying to force you into specific combat roles, and even then, I don't feel like they supported those roles very well. As for the parts, from my understanding, NGB had the least amount of model kits to work with, and unlike in GB3, there was no way to upgrade your favorite parts. Do you prefer the green beam saber over the pink one? Tough. The pink one does more damage, and if you want to win, there's nothing you can do to fix it.
Parts also only had 1 ability each while in breaker 3 for example the shoulders/arms of the kshatrya alone had like 2 or 3 optional weapons. (Funnel, beam cannons and that weird but fun whirly beam attack) And yeah... the customisation in new breaker was completly moot cause you either picked the parts with the best stats or you would defacto gimp yourselfe and be cannonfodder. But the greatest offense was diminishing the Extra parts to mere cosmetics with passive bonuses... talking about taking a crowbar to the customisation systems knees....
@@CheemsofRegret Huh... guess it has been so long that i forgot that. Then again i tried to forget that i bought that game back in the day on PS4 to begin with
NGB had around 250 kits to work with and if we aren’t counting the mobile game, was the Gundam Breaker with the most amount of kits It would be beaten by GB4 later on despite adding very few new kits on top of NGB’s base roster
I played Gundam Breaker 3 on Vita, and it didn't seem like anything special... like a Dynasty Warriors game with lots and lots of grinding. I don't know why Bandai has such difficulty making good Gundam games. It seems like the eassiet thing in the world. Just make a first/third person shooter... but the characters are mecha instead of people. Maybe add some slight inertia to the movement to give it the feeling of weight. Don't put the weapons on cooldown timers or any bullshit like that. Don't put in unnecessary grind or pay to win bullshit. No loot boxes. No gacha.
Check out zeonic front, the blue destiny games and the other older side story games. Bandai used to know how to make/fund good projects with Gundam but they've been failing so much in the last decade and a half or so
They could have fixed at least 60-70% of the problem by doing 1 thing to this game, just one frigging thing: Make it so your parts do not drop in battle. Just this. That's all. Losing your mech configuration in battle is the main problem in the game which absolutely destroys the experience. This would be easy to fix and while it wouldn't make the game like GB3, it would at least be playable instead of completely irredeemable. But they're morons and can't even do that. So here we are with a game that's not even worth pirating.

Now that you bring it up, it is an uncanny resemblance.
Huh, I see it too
This is like the Devil May Cry 2 of the Gundam Breakers series, we don't talk about it because it does not exist.
It's like dark souls 2

Do you still lose parts collected when getting hit? That's the biggest deal breaker for me in the NGB
@@klqeast No, you also dont need to deposit them in a chest either. Its the same system that they used in breaker 3. You pick em up and they are in your inventory for good. Though if you loose the mission you might loose most of the stuff you collected, i think thats how that worked in breaker 3

i don't think Bandai is that ashamed, they've a New GB cover DLC for the diorama mode of GB4 lol
That was a dark era of Gundam games.
2018 was not a good year for the franchise in general, Build Divers and Narrative also came out that year.
As someone who played through the whole game, I agree it’s absolute dogshit.
Trying to Plat this game on the PS is a nightmare. By the 2-3 month, nobody was online.

@@riptors9777 that's not entirely true. In NGB parts have multiple abilities but you can only choose one for your loadout. It's still pretty stupid.

The game is so bad, often funnel type weapon locks you to its attacking position. The only way out is for your opponent ended you and you respawn.
