@ 6:18 it was explained, the director of Re3 said the reason why those doors were boarded up was because there were still alive police officers hiding in the RPD and certain doors were boarded up because most doors leads up to other doors so to prevent zombies and lickers from walking all around the whole RPD the police offices boarded up the main doors, how ever when the zombies got out of hand they had to break the boards down to escape into the roads of racoon city however some police offers were caught and killed by lickers and some zombies, after Jill left and before clair and Leon arrived, a speed runner asked the director of Re3 that exact same question

One fact I've told Kai about that could have gone here is a Easter egg in the RE2-3 remake where Chris's desk contains a CD with a piano key layout on it, implying Chris started practicing playing the piano after the mansion incident where he played so poorly, he needed Rebecca to complete the Moonlight Sonata puzzle for him.

Ah yes, The "Wow a clearly breakable wooden door that needs a key to get through, lets find the key in God knows somewhere instead of shooting the door knobs" building.
In reality you cannot break a door knob by shooting at it. A Bullet is mostly lead and will just get squashed if it hits stronger metal. It's much easier to just break its frame or its hinges. crowbar, axe, hammer, and screwdiver are more usefull for force open a door than a gun. 🙂👍

The raccoon swat is actually referred to as the spf or select police force. They were a replacement of stars and bear striking resemblance to Leon's uniform which begs the question was Leon an SPF rookie?
SPF have body armor over black uniform like Kevin from Outbreak. OG Leon just wanted to make a good first impression by reporting in full uniform. Or donning it in response to all the 'riots' in the remake.
@@RichterBelmont2235 I dunno, they look pretty similar. Also the novelisation alludes to irons recruiting new men to replace stars, somewhere in the region of 12 (same number of stars members). You'll see from the opening fmv of resi 3 that on the main street battle there isn't more than 10 spf behind the barricade and Leon was late for work which is why he donned his uniform straight away.
@@RichterBelmont2235 ah but was it his first day on the job or just his first day in raccoon city? Besides, the resident evil universe doesn't seem too hung up on lack of experience to gain admission to an elite unit if the person seems to have clear aptitudes in training and high intelligence e.g. Rebecca Chambers - she was 18.
@@Natedawg38 Go find me proof where it is explicitly stated Leon has been inducted into the SPF then. Everyone, the note and even Leon himself said he was a rookie cop. not a highly decorated police equivalent of SWAT.
The use of shutters inside the RPD in RE2make to close off entryways is a reference to RE1.5 which also had them. Also, I think the cop who gets ripped in half when dragged under the shutter is another reference to 1.5 and how zombies could be cut in half in that game when a shutter was closed on them.
7:58 probably in RE universe, some technologies were developed earlier but not produced for public. More example is in RE6 where Leon and even Ada has unusual "phones"
8:08 - USB was available when the game takes place but they wouldn't have had access to it. I noticed this immediately when the game came out. I always kind explained it as they live in a parallel dimension or something where USB was invented a little earlier lol
This was so good! I'd love to see more fact videos about more locations if that is something you're interested in! It would be very cool to do one on maybe Raccoon City itself or the Spencer Mansion (things like how it's referenced in other games like Code Veronica etc). Awesome video series Kai! Looking forward to the next video on your channel, I always get excited when the notification pops up :)
Great video. - I wonder if any inspiration for the the police station location was taken from the film Assault on Precinct 13 (1976) - some music in that film seems similar to music in the original Resident Evil 2 - perhaps those two prisoners in the Outbrake version are a reference to that - although probably not.
My favorite location in all of Resident Evil the St. Michael Clock Tower its more of a creepier atmosphere the both the RPD and the Spencer Mansion in my opinion so if possible it would be nice to see a video about that
"The universal serial bus (USB 1.0) was developed by a consortium made up of Compaq, DEC, Intel, IBM, Microsoft, NEC and Nortel and introduced in 1996." I think that makes sense because it is a state institution and the more likely to have access to new tenochlogy than the private person. especially when it comes to military / security etc.
You're right but Kai mentions that USB _storage drives_ weren't invented until 1999. But like Damian said, Umbrella assuredly got them the latest-and-greatest tech before anyone else.
7:33 I believe in OG RE2, one of the dog's nametags (above the cage doors) in the kennel reads "JoJo", the other one reads "Rockey". Dunno what the third one reads, you're gonna have to ask the eldritch vaseline prerendered background gods for that one.
5:37 I'd disagree with you that his uniform had to do with an "upgrade". Not even sure where you got this information. As I was aware, his uniform is some variant of the RPD SWAT uniform. They are incredibly similar. It also wouldn't make any sense given the era, for 90's style police to be sporting that uniform as beat cops.

I really think that's the perfect choice for you next man! U should definitely do it!👍👍
Well the part of the "Doors being boarded up " if you look at the files in the OG Resident Evil 2 & 3 it's said that there were police officers in the RPD Hours before, During & after Jill got there they were trying to find a way to escape my guess is that they found their way to the main hall & try leaving through the front/side gate that's why you see so many Zombie Cops when you try to make it to the side gate as Leon/Claire
If you do a 50 facts video on Raccoon city please mention the "public market" neon sign is the same as Pike Place Market in Seattle, WA. Nobody else has mentioned that fact.
In RE2, depending on which way you enter the library in Scenario 2 either the shutters in the Club key hall to the basement will fail or the shutters in the 1st Floor west hallway will fail. :D

In reality you cannot break a door knob by shooting at it. A Bullet is mostly lead and will just get squashed if it hits stronger metal. It's much easier to just break its frame or its hinges. crowbar, axe, hammer, and screwdiver are more usefull for force open a door than a gun. 🙂👍
@@anggi8699 yeah i kinda figured that aswell but will a heavier bullet like a shotgun shells penetrate? I mean leon has one.
@@katomts i did watch some videos about breaching technique done by army, and if my memory correct they did use shotgun and aim for the door frame rather than the knob. Btw this is what happen when lead bullet meet steel lock. Spoiler alert: epic fail. 🤣
ua-cam.com/video/Kb5As8k5L_M/v-deo.html
@@katomts
A shotgun doesn't shoot a single bullet (normally, such ammo exists tho), so it would be even less effective to shoot at the knob
@@anggi8699 not exactly, if you had a shotgun, you could shoot the hinges resulting in the door coming off
Unreal that Coca Cola themselves were like "NO, please don't give us any further free advertisement and cease and desist all operations based upon the fact that we're already a multi-billion dollar corporation around the entire PLANET and have full (yes, we know) rights to the Coca Cola brand!" Really shows how petty people get when it comes to money. - Thanks for the video man!
Dude at 1:45 if You play the RE3 Nemesis and you enter this room, you'll see a poster of a young Kobe Bryant dunking near the door.
@@Natedawg38 How could Leon be selected for a Selected Police Force if it was his first day on the job?
@@RichterBelmont2235 ah but was it his first day on the job or just his first day in raccoon city? Besides, the resident evil universe doesn't seem too hung up on lack of experience to gain admission to an elite unit if the person seems to have clear aptitudes in training and high intelligence e.g. Rebecca Chambers - she was 18.
@@Natedawg38 Go find me proof where it is explicitly stated Leon has been inducted into the SPF then.
Everyone, the note and even Leon himself said he was a rookie cop. not a highly decorated police equivalent of SWAT.
without a doubt this is one of the most iconic location in the RE universe, great stuff man ! keep em coming 😊
Absolutely awesome video thanks Ink Ribbon you rock !😎👍
8:08 - USB was available when the game takes place but they wouldn't have had access to it. I noticed this immediately when the game came out. I always kind explained it as they live in a parallel dimension or something where USB was invented a little earlier lol
Great video! I’d love one about the Spencer Mansion!
Keep these up! They're my favorite!
Michael Clock Tower its more of a creepier atmosphere the both the RPD and the Spencer Mansion in my opinion so if possible it would be nice to see a video about that
Yay I've been waiting for this video!
oh wow i learned so much! particularly the last one about there being no toilets in the RPD! loved this. Thanks!!
"The universal serial bus (USB 1.0) was developed by a consortium made up of Compaq, DEC, Intel, IBM, Microsoft, NEC and Nortel and introduced in 1996."
I think that makes sense because it is a state institution and the more likely to have access to new tenochlogy than the private person. especially when it comes to military / security etc.
Yeah I heard somewhere that government tech is usually five years ahead of what hits the civilian market.
Also Umbrella sponsored them so state-of-art tech shouldn't be surprsing.
You're right but Kai mentions that USB _storage drives_ weren't invented until 1999. But like Damian said, Umbrella assuredly got them the latest-and-greatest tech before anyone else.
Beautiful made video kai thank and on point!!!
All the sounds of re2.... so much nostalgia...
Imagine having to go all the way to the tram to use the bathroom! Also it's just one so you know it would be always crowded and in use!! 😆
Chloroform is used in taxidermy as well. Either would be a possible use given the context
The amount of research and editing that goes into these videos is insane.
7:33 I believe in OG RE2, one of the dog's nametags (above the cage doors) in the kennel reads "JoJo", the other one reads "Rockey". Dunno what the third one reads, you're gonna have to ask the eldritch vaseline prerendered background gods for that one.
I love watching contents like this 🥰
I always thought that Jill had multiple firearms on her in the RPD scene.

I'd disagree with you that his uniform had to do with an "upgrade". Not even sure where you got this information. As I was aware, his uniform is some variant of the RPD SWAT uniform.
They are incredibly similar.
It also wouldn't make any sense given the era, for 90's style police to be sporting that uniform as beat cops.
Should absolutely do more 50 facts about places. I think there’s a lot of opportunities with the incredibly rich environments that capcom makes for the games they produce and develop.
Nice list! I just realized that Brian Irons taste in art (like the painting of the woman) really reflects his true nature as a predator! :O
If you want some list ideas, maybe do one on Alexia Ashford (or the Ashfords in general), Helena Harper, Jessica Sherawat and Alex Wesker! :D
God damn I love videos like these. Visiting old video game locations and taking the time to look closely.
Great video. Never played the original 2 and 3 REs, maybe one day I’ll give then a shot
Og 3 is definitely better
Deveria jogar. Podem ter envelhecido um pouco mal, ainda mais pela jogabilidade estilo "tanque", mas são jogos excelentes.

Great video! Very laid back, chill and cozy! Keep it up!
I love how the wall in bathroom in RE 3 explodes and In RE 2 The wall in the bathroom is already missing.
Also the boxes Jill destroys become wood to board windows in remake2
@@brandibadgett2587 hell yeah, same thing with Marvin. In RE 2 he's already been bitten and in 3 he isn't lol.
12:13 "Remember to drink water."
Me feeling thirsty after eating beef jerky while watching the video.🙄😆
This location is so iconic to me that I'm able to draw a 95% accurate map of it from memory
Dude I can't believe you took my advice when I commented about you making 50 facts about raccoon city that's great man I'm so stoked that actually worked for the first time. Awesome man! I just recently had another perfect idea for another video you can do thats perhaps the biggest one for you yet dude, you should definitely do 50 facts about umbrella itself. You can certainly cover all of there facilities, laboratories, and on map locations including all of the B.O.Ws that were created by umbrella themselves and even the mercenaries that were hired by umbrella that went to raccoon city in resident evil 3 (Carlos Oliveira for example) to help rescue survivors.
7:33 JOJO REFERENCE
If you do a 50 facts video on Raccoon city please mention the "public market" neon sign is the same as Pike Place Market in Seattle, WA. Nobody else has mentioned that fact.
Enjoyed this! Thank you for your hardwork Kai!😊
How about a video about Raccoon City? The whole town. ^^
In RE2, depending on which way you enter the library in Scenario 2 either the shutters in the Club key hall to the basement will fail or the shutters in the 1st Floor west hallway will fail. :D
10:57
In that same scene, as she's reloading the first time, there's an officer who's a dead ringer for Chris Redfield.
6:00 -- That's not true, dude. The real reason is due to the freeze rounds' ability to drop Nemesis faster than Sonic The Hedgehog after smoking meth.
I think its time for a 50 facts about Raccoon City
OBVS!!! next best would be the spencer mansion!!
A Police Station that has the most bonkers keys
ok did not know about the extra files, and wait i Heard for the RPD uniforms were seasonal what Leon had was the Fall/Winter uniform and the other Officers had Spring/Summer uniforms, but upgrade thats also new to me interesting.
AWW! We love you, Kai! Great video!
Good stuff man, I'm glad I found your channel.
The RPD is def one of the most iconic buildings in any video game
We all know the double reload is the best way to take out zombies.
So Capcom decided to use a dog picture on the RE2 Remake to make sure that Chris can still have a chance hahaha.
About the point 34. If you see the map,the west waiting room an the Licker's hallway, they are not in the same position with the outside wall.
I had a massive "duh!" moment with that one door that can't be opened when I finally understood the layout of the building. Only took me about 20 years....
8:26 no one till today explained what is this poster back in the locker. I always thought it's a mini version of the old megaman (rockman) and it's written rocboy or something like this
