- After my video on the RPD it should be no surprise that this was next. The Spencer mansion is one of the most iconic and well known places in gaming and is where the entire Resident evil franchise started and today we are going to explore it to see what secrets it may hold.

If I were crazy rich, I'd build a replica of the Spencer mansion and make it into some kind of a local park with resident evil theme
Agreed I would also do the same with the R.P.D. and clock tower.
Put a 1:1 animatronic of the Tyrant.
@@TheJanvicgwaps I'd put it inside the facility where chris or jill fought it.
@@bastardjustice
Also a plant anamontronic for plant 42 and the human sized plant in the garden.
with that much money just make the t virus for real
“This mansion is gigantic, we could easily get lost… we can search for him separately”
Barry Burton
Barry And Fred from Scooby-Doo 🤣
Barry never watched any horror films or Scooby Doo did he?
@@HiBuddyyyyyy Well RE1 is set in 1998 and even the first Scream movie was release two years before
@@TheHalloweenSpirit true. But Scooby Doo has been around since the 1969.
Barry: "This hall is dangerous!"
(the hall is one of the safest places in there)
2:50 the computer password that John made spells out mole. Implying that John knew Ada Wong was a spy, but he loved her anyway.
The spy who loved me reference?
Exactly. John knew that she was a spy and in his note, he said that if anything happened, she should take his information and send it to the public not only did he fall for a spy, he knew that she had a conscience.@@minuteman_deacon96
The first time I ever played Resident Evil 1 remake was in 2003, I will admit the Spencer Mansion scared the living daylights out of me, it turned me into the fan I am today ✊
Agreed and by the way evil Ryu is bad ass
I felt really bad for the Trevor family after learning their story. But around the time I was moving an object to get its shadow just right and any time I have to find a specific key for a specific room an any building, I can't help but curse their name.
Another fact: Trevor's Notes were originally included in the first version of the game, including Spencer's Invitation Letter and Trevor's response; serving as both lore and hints for some of the game's puzzles, and located in various places throughout the mansion, such as the L Passage where Kenneth's body is found, and the attic. They were cut from the game a month before it's release in order to streamline the story.
Trevor's notes were later rewritten and included in "The True Story of Biohazard" when the game was released on the Sega Saturn, and then rewritten again for the RE1 Remake.
Though not obtainable through normal play, the original version of Trevor's Notes can be found on the January 15, 1996 Trial Edition of the original game.
Imagine if someone decided to build Spencer’s mansion and make it into a hotel, how cool would that be?
Or as a escape room
@@Slightest724 This.
Funny u should say it'd b turned into a hotel;considerin the fact alot of the environments in OG resident evil, were actually inspired heavily by the hotel from "the shining"
Spencer Mansion: 1.75 Million dollars
Creating Zombies: Priceless.
Never knew about the one where the Plant 42 can violently tear your playable hero in half in some versions. Ouch.
They should've kept it for the other versions, yet, that still makes it very unique
Back in the day the game probably wouldn’t have passed censorship in Europe with that scene in it 😅 Graphic violence in games was still very frowned upon by many authorities 😄
The reason why the 2 zombies in the graveyard don't turn into Crimson Heads and despawn later, is most likely because it is connected to the boss area of the Crimson Head Elder and the the devs didn't want them to potentially enter that area and mess up the boss fight
The Spencer mansion was probably one of the creepiest and most dark lore and places we have ever seen in a resident evil game.
I'd say in video game history, even
@@Agonysttvery true
@@Agonystt Rapture from Bioshock could give it a run for its money.
@@FlawlessSubZero hell yeah!
Next video Raccoon City
Yess that’s a great shout 👍🏻
I was going to say the same
And make it a 100 facts video
Which version? It seems to get perpetually bigger with the advancement of the series…
💯
Musician here, I would say that fact no. 9 is likely not an error. Beethoven was a German composer and many editions of his sonatas are published in German. The German word for sonata is "sonate" thus the apparent misspelling.
Also, I have a copy of a different Beethoven sonata that likewise says "sonate".
Came here to say this 😆 You are 100% correct!
The place that started the whole nightmare of resident evil series
#37 my family and I went to Germany right before COVID started and we visited the Neuschwanstein Castle. It was a great experience and took lots of pictures.
I've always been in love with the Spencer mansion, and in fact, all of Raccoons architecture. Me and my partner recently bought our first large block of land, and I'm currently in the progress of working in the blue prints so we can build, the plan is to build a real life replica of the Spencer mansion as close as possible. (based off the remake mansion)
I'll be sure the share the day it's built and finished
Damn that's gonna be awesome especially if you guys manage replicate the lock and puzzles too
@@Leon-yw3zz i hope they don't replicate traps and experiments
You guys are gonna have some wild escape room parties
i wonder if he will relerase a video , i would be curious
Press X to doubt.
The music which says “sonate” may not actually be a mistake because it is just the french word for sonata. Also, when you are in Trevors cabin, just before you are attacked by Lisa, there is a London Underground map on the wall (next to the typewriter)
50 facts about raccoon city? Maybe facts about rockfort island/antarctic base, or even the training facility. Love your videos man keep it up
Even the RPD is just as iconic as the mansion, I always considered the mansion my favorite setting in Resident Evil, there's something special about this zombie filled place.
thats what I like about resident evil 1 that no resident evil game has achieved since then, it was all in one contained space even the lab and the quarters were a part of the mansion
resi 2 had the police station but that was connected to the sewers then the labs with no back travel
resi 3 was the city and took you everywhere
code veronica was a whole island with a oddly small mansion
Resi 4 5 6 you went everywhere
Revelations 1 and 2 tried to keep it small but alas they were also a bit everywhere
7 was close it had you in a house but then left that behind when the house was fully explored
8 well... its called village XD it was free roam but you never felt the need to go back to the castle after dimitrescu
And the clock tower that was sadly cut from the remake.
About No.6, that only applies IF you light the zombies all up separately. The smart thing to do is lure them close to where one was downed, and burn multiple in one shot.
I did that on accident once. There is even an achievement/trophy for it
Thank u for thoroughly covering the most interesting building in gaming. Such an iconic and fascinating place. I remember going on the Haunted Mansion ride, and overcoming the fear of the place. I think that's why I'm so interested in Resi !
Damn Oswell E. Spencer had good taste!
Yeah.
And the reason why the masion has so many puzzles and secret rooms is because he was a fan of all the old spy movies.
You know how many secret passages and hidden areas I’d have in my house if I had Oswell Spencer money? I’d make tunnel cities and government nuclear bunkers look like a child’s club house, I’m sure I’m not alone here lol
Amunt Valencia :)
@Nathan-Croft Good taste?! 🤣 The Spencer mansion in architectural design terms is an abomination 😂😂😂 It would feel awful actually living there 🙈 But yeah, it’s freaking cool nevertheless 😅
This mansion is like a dream to me, like ive actually been there. I played the remake on GameCube when I was like 13 and it scared me so much that I still get shook thinking about, my brain like thinks its a real memory
SAME HERE, I PLAYED THIS GAME AS A CHILD AND EVEN NOW AS AN ADULT I STILL HAVE A CERTAIN TRAUMA AND EVEN NIGHTMARE ABOUT IT 🫠
I wanna see someone crazy/rich (or both) enough to build an actual, true 1 : 1 build of the Spencer Mansion.
evil lab and everything
The most closest to the Spencer Mansion is the Winchester Mansion
Virus included?
It goes without saying I wanna visit the actual mansion minus the zombie/monster part. I wanna do the puzzles as well, for nostalgic reasons.
Oh my - the umbrella corporation sounds like our pharma industry with covid right now
Imagine RE1 first person remake with village graphics/advancements, getting to explore racoon Forest, the bravo team chopper running from the dogs into the mansion as just a prologue
First person? No.
@@unoriginalhazard y not tho
@@Spirosbotos because first person is ass, it’s a cheap way to invoke fear but nothing instills fear into someone more when you can’t look around the corner and see what’s coming. Example being the original camera placements in the original resident evil trilogy.
I agree with everything else though, starting in the forest instead of the mansion would be pretty cool.
@@unoriginalhazard it is kinda cheap I agree, first person
50 facts about Raccoon City anytime soon?
25 years. Amazing game back then and in 2021
In the PS1 version There's a unique death animation where Yawn literally can eat you alive in one shot.
Spencer mansion is tied with Rapture ( Bioshock ) for my favorite video game setting of all time. Amazing video as always
I love Bioshock
@@tylerm7411 same here brother
#44 That actually makes it way worse in Chris' scenario, where Rebecca sets it off, than in Jill's, where Wesker does it right before a Chimera kills him.
Amazing video as always! rotating to enter the monster plant is hilarious!
In REmake if you walk backwards into the monster plant it'll pull you in. But you can't grab the key.
"Sonate" is the german word for sonata.
The architecture even more-so impactful when you realize how much symbolism Noblemen like Spencer put into their facilities, after recently revealing Umbrella Corporation was inspired initially by a longstanding medieval European alliance, the original 4 Lords succeed by Miranda's cult.
It's obvious that not only were the Corporation trying to create a facade over their eugenics and biological manufacturing, but rightfully their own kingdom.
With Raccoon City's majestic Police Department, Sewer System, and burial grounds all being funded and manipulated by the Corporation in their initial planning, including the Spencer Mansion. Trevor an urban architecture, Iron's the police chief, and the mayor all in Umbrella's pocket. The Umbrella Corporation initially had it's own state before the outbreak.
That connection was retconned in for Villiage so it’s loosely connected after the fact.
@@kjh4496 what has been retconned?
@@TheRealAdaWong the lore about the 4 houses being Spencers inspiration for the Umbrella logo, meeting Miranda, knowing about her Cadou experiments and the megamycite. All written in for Village to connect to the series lore.
Fact 51: it do be a mansion
Omg plsssss do a facts video on krauser he’s my favourite Re character 😫🙏
Me too!
A VR remake of the game would slap so hard😩
i always loved the Spencer's mansion its my favorite location in the entire franchise❤️❤️❤️
If u think about it : the spencer mansion is the only location in RE thts designed from day 1 to k!ll u,like other places were once havens or normal places before bein overrun like RPD,raccoon hospital, etc, but the mansion has always been sinister even before the outbreak,I mean the puzzles and traps alone are designed to body any intruders,it's no wonder it's the most iconic location even to this day
Next time the Ashford family tree.
That RE sequence that would take place in the mansion area around 2001 would be perfect for a spin-off, even today! And it would be a good excuse to go back to Raccoon City, the best era of RE :D
0:29 to the sound, the look, re1 relzje zombies are by far the most terrifying ones, not only in the re franchise but in every games, movies included.
Great Video. To the fact of the Moonlight Sonata, "Sonate" is the german Word of it and Mozart came from the german speeking austria. It's seems to be a mix of both languages.
9:52 and the poison purge protocol in my school vr game after the Upgraded Astro detainer Skibidi toilet saves Goalius life from Doma (Doma is from demon slayer and the Astro Skibidi is from a series called Skibidi toilet)
I guess he was so jealous of mother Miranda's village he made his own puzzled mansion.
In reference to the painting of the sacrifice of Isaac, the original pass codes in RE1 were the Bible passage about the sacrifice of Isaac. Also, in the REmake the paining “Supper at Emmaus” by Caravaggio is in several places around the mansion. I think the Judeo-Christian imagery plays into Spencer’s (and even Wesker’s) god complex.
Dude this video was fantastic. For your next video you should definitely do 50 facts about raccoon city. I just thought of that idea very recently and I really think its the perfect next choice for you man.
Great video! - the information on the various pictures on the walls was very interesting. It would be good if there was a prequel game set in the 1960s also in the mansion where you would play as perhaps George Trevor.
Hey, an FYI: all the artworks seen on the wall of the East Stairs are from the National Gallery. Included are: "The Morning Walk" by Gainsborough, "An Allegory with Venus and Cupid" by Bronzino, "Equestrian Portrait of Charles I" by Anthony van Dyck and "The Ambassadors" by Hans Holbein
These videos are so amazing! I love watching them while I´m being in my warm bed in these cold days :)
Man, I love your videos. Your voice is great, your face is great, your content is great, which combined makes you as a whole fantastic! Looking forward to the next one man, already watched all your vids. So cool.
Gayyyyy
3:33 few people know about it, I discovered it by accident many years ago, in the late 90s or early 2000s.
Thought this was gonna be click bait but I've played continuously since 96' and didnt know a large chunk of these..im actually a little taken back about that spin glitch existing. Excellent work.
Remind me never to go camping in the mountains or forests around Springfield Missouri
In spirit of the 25th anniversary of resident evil, I decided to Watch this😊 thank you Ink Ribbon.
Are you ever gonna do hidden secrets and Easter eggs for Resident Evil Village?
great video as always man, this is the best and most memorable locations in RE, it's not just a big house, it's a character in it self ! and the music is just too perfect.
Agreed and each room has a story to tell.
wow i never knew about the plant 42 saturn death scene! it looks jank as hell but i love it
These videos are great and i always seem to be learning new facts about the series.
The Trevor backstory was much appreciated, adding a much more tragic background instead of it being just a secret research and test facility...It was Cold turkey how they had Trevor build the thing...then he winds up dying in it...
Just played through REmake for the first time about 2 weeks ago so everything is fresh in my mind. Hyped for this video
Thinking about decorating a reading room in my place liberty style like this. Of course I'm a fan of the franchise, countless hours spent on the remastered version of the original.
2nd favorite place in Re saga , after the RPD.
Dude I can't believe you took my advice when I commented about you making 50 facts about raccoon city that's great man I'm so stoked that actually worked for the first time. Awesome man! I just recently had another perfect idea for another video you can do thats perhaps the biggest one for you yet dude, you should definitely do 50 facts about umbrella itself. You can certainly cover all of there facilities, laboratories, and on map locations including all of the B.O.Ws that were created by umbrella themselves and even the mercenaries that were hired by umbrella that went to raccoon city in resident evil 3 (Carlos Oliveira for example) to help rescue survivors. I really think that's the perfect choice for you next man! U should definitely do it!👍👍
Dude, great video! Learned sooo much!
the pattern that resembles a witch is none other than Miranda ...holy smokes 🔥🔥🔥🤩
I've literally been waiting for more videos on the Spencer mansion there's barely any on UA-cam. You're the best Kai!
Incredible, these will be forever great content 👏🏾
You the man Kai ! Very cool video dude 👊🏼
Awesome video as usual Kai!
Nice vid mate , can you do a similar facts video for resident evil 4?
Yeah that'd be cool, like one on the village or the Las plagas
@@AWESOMISM2000 yeah bro and considering the fact that he explains very well , i would love see a video like that.
If I ever achieve wealth and status, the first thing I'll do is construct an exact replica of this house. Minus the traps. Probably.
Maybe you should be more creative
@@reaceness Why skip traps though? Unwanted visitors shouldn't just walk everywhere.
Traps would be useful if the cops decided to look for something.
imagine having to do 10 puzzles just to go to the toilet in the midle of the night
Nice work bro!
Love the vid. A lot of facts i forgot about or didn't know. Would love to see a facts video about raccoon city itself
On Remake with the nitro i got a game over from walking under a live electric cable in the hallway before the generator.
Thing is, it'd been about my 20th time through the game and had never had it happen and even worse i was on a no saves run.
To say i was shocked and .....not pleased.....was and understatement.
Love ur work kai!!!
Fun facts in the original resident evil 1 there was no such thing as the spencer mansion it was just a old abandoned mansion that was used for specimen research by umbrella.
This is great video ink! Always love these vids
Thanks dad
Fun fact about "Chay-zar-ay Borgia": he is considered one of most intelligent military/political strategists to ever live, but like with Wesker and Spencer, he maintained a highly strained relationship (where he was the superior in mind and body) with his father Rodrigo Borgia/Pope Alexander VI.
Only 1.75 million dollars? Jeese Spencer those are rookie numbers you gotta bump those numbers up!
Love your work Kai mate
Good job Kai🔥
I am way too familiar with every room of the mansion more so than any human should be.
@5:25 in the Mural Room, the other painting just opposite is "Judith Beheading Holofernes," another incredible painting by Caravaggio.
Yesss just what I was waiting for
Great video brother
Another amazing job, Kai! Great content, as always. Congratulations!!
Never stop making these 👍.. and if u by chance you get to line up the zombies in a hallway and have them fall on top of each other when u kill them.. you can burn them all at the same time.. it saves kerosene and time..
THANK YOU KAI!!!!!!!! :D
The fact you completely left out RE Zero’s lore as to why the mansion got infected is a bit weird. The T-Virus leaked cause of Marcus to seek revenge on Umbrella, Wesker, and Birkin after he was revived.
Do Salazar’s castle next.
Hey man, super great and unique content within the community, wonderful job. But how about taking it to the next level and make a video about facts about Ustanak, the main antagonist in Jake and Sherry's campaign.
Just some theories about fact 26. The pile of wood + oil + lighter may all have been used on the second floor east wing, to originally obtain the second floor map above the fire place. This may have been a bit too tedious for the end prize, so they simplified to just using a lighter. The building key looks very futuristic, like it's from the lab. Perhaps the key to get out of the tyrant room, instead of electronic lock on the computer or the giant door leading to the helipad elevator? There are two keys on the ring. Could also have been the original way to access the elevator to get down to the tyrant room. Instead of supplying power, you would find two parts of the key, to proceed downward. The pick axe may have been originally used to tear down walls in the underground caverns, like the one before the Black Tiger boss. This was replaced with the rolling boulders. Pick axe makes more sense, but the rolling boulders were scarier.
Random fact - at 1:47 the guy in the portrait is Cesare Borgia, born in Italy and hes italian... but with spanish lineage; his father, Pope Alessandro VI (Rodrigo Borgia) was spanish and both are in the Assassins Creed Franchise as villains. That portrait is dated 1513, 6 years after Cesare's death and it's called "Ritratto di un gentiluomo" (Gentleman Portrait)
My guy you deserve WAY more subs
On the Saturn Version, The Tick also has a different death animation than the hunters. They will skewer you, the same as a tyrant, then decapitate you.
Nice video. I wonder if you can do a facts video on the U.B.C.S.
Also, thank you for pointing out Springfield, MO as the real life Raccoon City. 😁
day 1 of asking for "50 facts about the castle from re4"?
Interesting, I never knew about the differences on the sega Saturn, so cool!
