But your opponents are the ones that make the decision. So usually, it will be worst case on your side. If their enchantments or artifacts are so powerful, you can't remove them, and they will gladly have you your best lands. In other scenarios, you needs lands badly but there are not many worthy targets to exile. So you don't know what you will get, but as I said before, usually the worst case scenario. Anyway, it's just my opinion. Cheers.
@@mi318s Thats the point, just view it as a 4 mana, 3 land ramp. But if that doesnt happen, then you remove the best art/enchs on the battlefield. Its an insane ramp spell w the 10% chance its removal
Every time I have cast this card I have won. I run it in lands matter decks where if you give me lands it accelerates my board position or I get to 3 for 1 so a win/win. Last game I played was my zimmone and Diana maze's end deck I target a sol ring, swiftfoot boots, and impact trimmers. The player with the impact trimmers and the sol ring had me search for land and got maze's end and the last gate I needed with a card that untapped permanents to win the game
I’ve been really liking vile mutilator from duskmourn over voracious fell beast myself. It’s a 6/5 flying trample for 5BB and you have to sac a creature as an additional cost to cast it but when it enters each opponent has to sac a nontoken creature AND a non token enchantment. It’s a 6 for 1 if all your opponents have 1 of each of those and they can’t just sac some token. It’s a does cost more than fell beast but the value you get is worth it to me, plus you’re in black so you can reanimate it easily and get around the sac as an additional cost plus the sac can be upside in a lot of black decks plus the body is much better
Clifftop and Kutzil both went into my Tadeas deck and have been nice role players. Any card that can protect a winning turn like Kutzil is inherently strong and the draw potential is a nice bonus.
I use Springleaf Drum in my budget Goblins deck. It definitely helps a bit. For non-budget reason use; it triggers Kona, Rescue Beastie on the turn it's played
I'm glad to see Scampering Surveyor on this list! He's a solid Value creature and I put him in my Bello deck where he gets me a land and then he becomes an Indestructible threat!
I won a game once by giving my opponents creature double strike with duelist heritage as it was attacking me and I cast deflecting palm to reflect the damage and kill them. Memorable win 👍
Sarkhan's Unsealing is a great find for my big mana cascade deck! Thanks! Nice to see Perpetual Timepiece get some love. Also consider Moonsnare Prototype for any blue decks that already want Springleaf Drum or run lots of artifacts like equipment or clues/food. That card has always overperformed for me.
Personally, I've been absolutely loving Unexplained Absence. It's one of my all-time favorite removal spells. It's so flexible, it's at instant speed, it's an exiling effect, and it does it for each player. Exiling the three most threatening non-land permanents at instant speed for 4 mana is just so good. I play it in my 500 dollar Orzhov Death and Taxes deck. It isn't just a budget card.
Unexplained absence- completely agree with all your points, I've been running it in 2 decks since it came out and it has never let me down. Spring leaf drum - just built a Kona deck and was so excited to finally have a home for the alt art one I pulled in brothers war 2 years ago.
Great selections today! I’m a big fan of Duelist’s Heritage, and a friend swears by Skittering Surveyor. He’s started running it with the cave that exiles three cards from graveyards when it enters and taps for any of their colors, as a little piece of surprise graveyard hate. Rose is super fun and I cut her from Caesar but need to figure out where to put her. She’s like Prosper for decks that attack a lot. Love the budget content from this channel, especially the reminders about recently released bulk stuff.
I recently found Feldon’s cane for my graveyard decks. Only costs one, free to tap(and exile it) and shuffle your whole graveyard into your library; I feel like BZ would definitely use.
I still love burnished hart in the right deck. In a deck like Heliod, the Radiant Dawn where you can cast it for free or decks where you can reduce its cost in another way it still feels great!
Sarkhan’s Unsealing has been insane every time my friend has it out in his Maelstrom Wanderer deck. And I may have to try Dissection Tools in my Chiss-Goria deck. And maybe swap it for the Batterskull that’s in there (although Vigilance is really strong)
Sarkans in Etali primal conqueror is so good! … it triggers on Etali but also if you hit big creatures on the free spells (not that Etali needed more help)
@@mikebaugus1408Most blue players find a combo on commanderspellbook and have like 40 counterspells to resolve it. It's not a color that attracts players who play "good"
18:04 the problem with unexplained absence is that usually there’s one person popping off that needs 3 things removed and this can only pick off one, and then two little things you weren’t worried about on the other two opponents’ boards. It’s also 4 mana which is the baseline for wraths. So playing another wrath is USUALLY better than this in it’s slot. Lastly it’s hard for decks outside of draw-go to cast this. It’s sweet when it works and it’s needed but mid when you realize oh, that guy’s commander could’ve just as easily been swords-to-plowshare-ed and the other two things we just incidental value. So, although it reads really good, in practice it just sucks to have to hold up 4 mana and then all 3 of your opponents have something you MUST remove onboard. I run generous gift still over it mostly to get rid of lands that are becoming more and more of a problem in edh. Players, for some reason, think it’s ok to proxy gaea’s cradles and stuff in casual games. Really hard to deal with l permanents like lands are getting harder and harder to destroy because cards keep getting printed with an exception to them. So im keeping generous gift for now.
Soul Shatter was $0.50 for a very long time. Still as of this is only $3. Will always pay one more for instant speed. But if keeping it ultra budget nowadays, this makes sense.
This being a singleton format, you can always play both, since I'd assume you're not playing not just one removal spell in your deck. You choose your best spells and "extract a confession" is somewhere on your ranked list of candidates for the deck and it just might bump another spell out. Also they DID say it's budget budget. Should you get Soul Shatter? Probably, but confession can still be found for cents in some common boxes while soul shatter you basically have to go online and buy it in and pay shipping for it. Like who is going to trade their copies of soul shatter away?
I love running my Kutzil commander deck, her draw engine encourages you to be aggro and swing with your big creatures to connect for the extra draw. Cheap enough that its not painful to recast her, but I typically keep her in the command zone till turn 4, sometimes 5 once I have a few bodies and engines going, so I can get somewhat immediate value when I bring her in. Her first ability kinda looks like pillow fort commander, so I like that she pays for aggression.
If your deck is at all combat focused, includes black and you're not running Dauthi Trapper, why? It's an all-star in my Obeka "upkeep shenanigans" deck.
Unexplainned absense hitting all 3 people makes all 3 insanlty bash your head in for removing their best thing. Sadly, usually, 1 person has the thing you need to remove. If it was up to 3 total things, and not 1 for each, I'd like it so much more.
You can do diplomacy with players about it though. It's up to for every player. I've removed two nasty permanents and a shitty token for a third player to strike a temporary alliance.

Disorienting Choice is INSANE. 4 mana tutor your THREE best lands, and if your opponents don’t let you, they lose their best art/enchant.
But your opponents are the ones that make the decision. So usually, it will be worst case on your side.

Yeah, Kutzil has helped me a lot. Both on draw and protection. It's super nasty in my counters decks, cause every creature is modified
@@Keck282 Exactly. My deck is heavy on counters too so if my commander gets removed a couple of times Kutzil can get the same draw engine going.
I use Springleaf Drum in my budget Goblins deck. It definitely helps a bit.

I play Scampering Surveyor in all of my non green decks. Being able to get any basic, Volatile Fault, or Sunken Citadel has felt great
I'm glad to see Scampering Surveyor on this list! He's a solid Value creature and I put him in my Bello deck where he gets me a land and then he becomes an Indestructible threat!
Clifftop Lookout has done so much work in my Frog deck!
I won a game once by giving my opponents creature double strike with duelist heritage as it was attacking me and I cast deflecting palm to reflect the damage and kill them. Memorable win 👍
Deflecting Palm would only redirect the first strike damage. Not the second instance of normal combat damage.

I grabbed a Dissection Tools planning to run it in Zimone, but I’m gonna try it in a deck that likes saccing instead.
I recently found Feldon’s cane for my graveyard decks. Only costs one, free to tap(and exile it) and shuffle your whole graveyard into your library; I feel like BZ would definitely use.
I took out Feldon's cane for Elixir of Immortality.
Yes, it's 2 mana to tap. But it shuffles itself and your gy and gives you 5 life.
Springleaf drum with Kona, Rescue Beastie, you tap Kona and can bring out a big monster for free in your second main phase.
For unexplained absence, odds are for 3 players, someone is going to hit something very useful and if it’s not well it’s a 2/2 creature with ward 2
I have been playing Scampering Surveyor and sad robot as my twin ramp robots in so many decks!
I still love burnished hart in the right deck. In a deck like Heliod, the Radiant Dawn where you can cast it for free or decks where you can reduce its cost in another way it still feels great!
I play unexplained absence in ALL my white decks and it always feels good when I cast it
That Surveyor would go really well on my Lord of Riots deck...
8:54 feather the redeemed! A commander that wants to use pump spells to one shot people, use this and titan strength now your attacking for 12
I had not thought of that for my beloved Feather deck! Thanks!
I do have this card in other decks!

Thanks, Occult Epiphany is perfect for my Kykar, Wind's Fury deck :)
Ive been slotting in Suspend for a couple blue decks and it has put in alot of work. A good price at .79 cents
I run Sarkhan's Unsealing in my Gishath deck. Love it. Absolutely insane.
Dissection Tools could be a good option in a budget Tegwyll, Duke of Splendor deck.
Sarkans in Etali primal conqueror is so good! … it triggers on Etali but also if you hit big creatures on the free spells (not that Etali needed more help)
I love these videos. I was super sad when budget bombs fell out of the rotation. It would be great if they were monthly like most worth buying!
Love seeing Kutzil on the list, he rocks.
Kutzil it’s such a banger. Play it two turn before you want to go for the win. Then laugh as the blue player says “waiting why can’t I counter that?”
No actual good blue player would let this card go unchecked.
