The thing I loved most about this film was the whole dynamic of the friendship between Django, and Schultz. The love and respect between the two really sold the story imho. Even after Schultz is dead, Django gives that kiss and says, auf Wiedersehen. That to me spoke volumes.
Schultz is his mentor and has paternal relationship with him. They travelled for five years together with the mindset of not just of a bounty hunter but as soldiers.
I love that but also when Django and Hildy are watching Candyland burn down🔥 and the camera cuts to a flashback of Doctor Shultz telling Django that they’re going to call him the fastest gun in the south ❤️😎
Schultz character seems to think" hey your black that doesn't bother me, you're a slave sucks to be you, but hey buddy you're not anymore with me and come on this adventure"

Supposedly Will Smith was uncomfortable with some aspects of it and would have wanted changes that Tarantino wasn't gonna make, and that's what led to Foxx being cast. Which makes a lot of sense... this flick doesn't really seem to fit Will Smith's brand.
Between 4:46 and 4:53 the beer in the glass of Christoph Waltz went up. There is a western with Clint Eastwood were exactly the same thing happens. Call me crazy, but I think that was intended by Quentin Tarantino and was actually a homage to that movie. The movie with Clint was High Plains Drifter, from 1973.
i think they confirmed somewhere else that it was just shot a dozen times and they kept refilling the glasses so it was more that they just werent thinking about it then it being deliberate, but it is nice to think of it as one and i am sure quentin would like it like that

The way Kerry Washington explains her love for the role almost made me cry. "they believed in their own humanity through their love" so-to-speak, that was just wonderful!
One of the things I really enjoyed most about this movie is that Django had a "boundary" in the movie. He could get nasty, but he couldn't quite go over the edge in his revenge and killing, because he had to stay sane enough and human enough to be with Brunhilda. They're right to say the love story here is very beautiful.
Notice at the end, Quentin mentions achieving “the things he NEEDS.” I think this is what separates average directors from great directors. He doesn’t want a movie to come out a certain way....he NEEDS it to match his vision.
I love Quentin! His honesty on his films can’t be beat! Everyone else is scared to express the realness he gives us in every aspect and the depth is so great! And the cast couldn’t have been any better

Quentin is hands down my favorite creator of my generation. Add to that, his producing, directing, hell, even acting and tie that to the people he casts in these roles and just wow. Not only does he manage to sign in my eyes the best of many generations, they "get" him and are truly all in on his creations. Can you imagine, being Tarantio, and having the friendship, and professional admiration of these actors and actresses to top it off? The man has made, everything he's made, with passion, maximum creativity and mad mad skills. Truly a master of the art.
The respect shown to Tarantino by such great actors just goes to show how truly brilliant he is not only as a director but as a visionary for the future development of film and a master of the art.
Here after Once Upon and have to say this is now my 2nd favorite Tarantino flick. The Hollywood love letter was brilliant and I never thought I'd see better chemistry than Fox and Waltz till I had seen Leo and Brad. Keep up the great work and hope to see directors cuts of all your films in the near future.

That's something I love about the script. Quentin putting that type of character into a situation where he's forced to confront contradictory beliefs and values he holds in a quick, awkward situation. It's funny, but also reveals something deeper.
The thing about Tarantino is that he doesn't hold back. He may shoot high and miss at times, but he's never gonna back off. And he may have great actors with an intense, even abusive script, but the story is what wins the day. You just can't take your eyes off of Django and Schultz, what's going on between their ears is just as interesting as the potential violence and mayhem you just KNOW is coming when Candie is around. It's waiting for that slow burning explosion that just keeps you glued to the screen. Oh, and anything with Kerry Washington, I'm there.

I like that. Tarentino doesn't try to force comedy like some cheap comedy. He simply writes things that are legitimately funny. Because he's a good writer that knows good humor. It doesn't have to bite him in the ass.

I like that. Tarentino doesn't try to force comedy like some cheap comedy. He simply writes things that are legitimately funny. Because he's a good writer that knows good humor. It doesn't have to bite him in the ass.
