These V7s are just classic looking, super sexy, bikes! That exhaust sounds incredible! First time I’ve heard a MG sound like that, but I don’t have much experience with them at all. I’m a Harley guy and the V7 is exactly what Harley should have done with the sportster lineup. Make it E5 compliant, lighten it up, and give it some extra performance. MG succeeds where Harley fails. Thinking seriously about adding one to the garage! Very seriously!
I agree, I test-rode the 883 which was meh, and the 1200 which was ok. If you look at the current V7 Special Edition, it is a steal in my book. my only complaint is the non-TFT instrument cluster. I like Physical dials or at least replicate it with a good TFT but I get it, as it was built somewhat to a price point.
Yeah, in Italy Moto Guzzi are selling good after Harley Davidson stopped the Sportster line, after all with a V7 you can do all the things that you can do with the Sportster and it's so more lighter than the Sportster.
It's really a shame that the Sporty line is no more in production.
Very nice Sound, the removal of the Db-Killer Clip made me shiver. You take them out by opening the Tension with correct Pliers. No scratches involved.Cheers

Awesome. Sounds great! I got the Agostini x-black for my V85TT and love it. Which video and audio software do you use to make your videos? Which mic do you use for recording the rides?
I keep it simple and inexpensive ... =), Wondershare for making the videos, no separate audio software. For the mic, I use the purple panda and for voiceovers the blue yeti. On the V85, nothing was available when I looked and I actually really like my "free hack" sounds just right.

Did you not need to remap the ecu since you removed the db killer? Did you feel a lag in the throttle?
I would recommend it, there was just a hint of it , nothing major but with Upmap now available its rather easy.
You need good quality circlip pliers to remove the circlips.

Those Agostini's sound and look fantastic! Nice upgrade. I am considering my next bike and hope to test ride a 2021 V7 E5 this week if the weather allows. What year is this bike? 2021? I ask because it seems that somewhere part way through the manufacture year they changed the blinkers to LED and changed the shape of the rear brake light because I am seeing 2021's with both.
How many miles did you ride before changing to the Agostinis? Your gaskets looked in perfect condition and did not appear to get damaged when removing the stock cans. Did the Agostinis come with new gaskets?
It is a late 2021, the LED blinkers are from the euro version that we don't get due to regulations here in the USA. You can however fix that with aftermarket ones.I belive I had about 300 miles before switching to the Agostini's. Agostinis did not require any gaskets as far as I remember and I did not detect any exhaust leaks after the installation. Hope this helps. Cheers!
@@ThatGermanFella I was wondering if the LED blinkers and the differently shaped brake light was Euro specific but I had no logic to make sense of that. We have plenty of LED blinkers here on stock bikes...Like my 2021 Honda Rebel 500. How is it the Moto Guzzi's are excluded from having them?
Regarding the gaskets....It looks like especially at 2:27 thru 2:31 I can see what appears to be stock from factory a copper weave gasket on the end of your header pipe. I had one on my Honda which was damaged removing the stock muffler but fortunately the aftermarket can was designed to clamp directly onto the header without a gasket so I did not have to source one to replace.
@@dustytriumph Concerning the blinkers, not sure, If I had to guess I would say cost might have been a factor why they stuck with the old style. But honestly I am a bit suprised, every bike I own from kawasaki, honda and Moto Guzzi have the old style blinkers and I was told it is because of the outdated regulations here.
@@ThatGermanFella I just got back from test riding the E5 V7 850. Whoa! Very different (as expected but even more so than I imagined) than my Honda Rebel 500 and the Indian Scout Sixty I test rode last week. I've heard the terms "very agricultural" and "the Italian Harley" used. Yah, I'd say that sums it up. All I know as a new rider with only 3000 miles is you really know you are riding a motorcycle and not a sewing machine. Man that was raw and visceral compared to what I've ridden.
The dealer-owner suggested he thought the blinkers we in the US get on the V7 might have to do with cost. I much prefer the look of the Euro brake light and turn signals but I wouldn't bother swapping out should I get one of these. Bit of a disappointment however.
My Rebel came with LED turn signals that stay on as running lights. Their use started I think with the 2020 model launched in 2019. That's the sum total of all I know about LED. ;-),
@@dustytriumph I am a huge fan of the V7, if you opt for the Stone E5 instead of the Special, you save a few bucks, get tubeless tires and LED for front and rear , the front has a build in LED running light in the shape of the MG Eagle, so cool! Anyhow, these bikes have a lot of character for sure and are not your average Honda. The transnission takes about 2000 miles to break in, but after that they shift amazingly smooth, at least that is what happed with my V85.
Did you do any ECU programming and things like that?
No programing or re-mapping at all.
I’m looking at a set of these. So when riding do they have that droning noise or just a nice rumble. Hope makes sense. Thank you for your input
I would go with the rumble, but as a disclaimer, I ALWAYS wear earplugs, so if there is any, it probably gets canceled by them. On a side note, you should not have that problem with the DB killers left in place, it was just too tame for me, considering my earplugs.

Am I missing something, people spend a fortune on louder pipes, then ride with earplugs in so they are not to loud.... Why not just keep the standard pipes and the money
@@chriscurrie5597 it's not just about how loud new pipes make the bike. It's actually much more about how they change the tone of the motorcycle.

Both are great companies! I had the Mistral big bore headers on my V85 and it really transformed the bike but on the V7 I can only speak for the Agostini set up and it is amazing. I don't think you can't go wrong with either one ... =)

Yeah they do sound better without the db killers in my opinion. But either way it is a improvement over stock.

I had the same issue as you, hard to remove the c-clips of the DB-killers. Simple fix, remove the excess material on the inside of the c-clips. That way, both sides come closer and are easy to remove.

I have the longer Agostini's on my v9 and love them too. Regarding the spring clip, my guess is you didn't have your snap ring tool set quite right. I have no problem poping mine outs in mere seconds using the same tool.
Yeah could be a user error, or mine is just too large. I tried with different lengths at the top but was unable to fully compress the snap ring causing it not to want to come out.
I finally took the db killer out of my Agostinis on the V7 850. Indeed, it was difficult. I put them back after two days. Too much for me after 1/2 hour or so.
Do you use ear plugs? I always ride with ear plugs and it sounds great, but without, yeah they are very loud ... =)
Great choice, for V7 there are two great exhaust manufacturers from Mandello, Agostini anf Mistral. Both of them top quality and sound. For V85 I chose Zard exhaust because of look and because I use V85 for travel so I apreciate similar noise level to the stock exhaust with richer sound and little more bass. ;-)
The Zard was on top of my list for the V85, I just could not get my hands on one and then I figured out the "free hack" ... lol, I actually wanted the long pipes from Agostini, but again, can't even find them, but I am very happy how the short ones turned out.
Sounds nice! I have Agostini carbon fiber mufflers on my Audace Carbon and my Mgx-21.

Not required but recommended, UpMap is what I would recommend.
Apparently, at least with the mistral exhaust, when the baffle is removed the bike needs a retune or it won't run quite right. Might not be the same with this exhaust though.
I did not have any issues before I sold it but I will say at the time there was nothing available for the E5 bikes. Not sure if there is a tune now via UP Map or the likes.

No tune back then but there is now upmap which I would highly recommend. I tuned my V100 with upmap and no issues at all, bike runs amazing. You don’t really need a tune but it sure helps with better fueling and fuel to air ratios.
You need circlip pliers, right tool for the right job, that’s all.
That is what I had Jon, you can see it at the 7:05 mark. Maybe a different form factor as the ones were not able to fully close the gap in the tight space, hence it would not come out easy and I reverted to "german" engineering ... lol
@@ThatGermanFella Understood. At least that method they use is very neat and leaves the exhaust pipe without any holes or other ugly bracketry. I prefer it to the Mistral method.

Hey, IDK if it helps but a couple of days a go I bought a v7 850 from thebikehub with mistral exhaust on, so if you are interested, give it a shot. It cost me around 600 euros.
I thought the 850 motor doesnt like the fuel mixture when slip on exhaust have the dB killers removed. I thought they needed an New mapping?
It is recommended but not required. At the time the video was made, there was nothing available. Now there are fuel tuning / mapping solutions available via UP Map.
I installed mine without the new mapping and things were fine. The whole mechanic can easily take it. But the new mapping made it much smoother. Highly suggested, not obligated.

Hello. Have you received any engine flashlight warnings when you installed the Agostini (especialli after removing db killers)? Or did you do any ECU modifications?
When I did it, no errors or fault indicators. At this point , not required but I would recommend the UpMap tuning solution to get the fueling right.

Did you measure the DBs you get without the killers? This sound is very charming, but cops are quite severe on this in Québec. And yes, they will measure the DBs before you can hit the road again (max 100 decibels)
I did not because here in Texas we don’t have any laws for noise and cops don’t care. They are quite loud without the db killers but sound amazing. Since I always wear earplugs when riding it was just right for me.
the tool you have for removing the snap ring, didnt work?.. there is a (yellow) lever on your snap ring plier that changes from inner to outer snap ring removal. was it too short? it looks like it should have worked. Sounds great though!
I tried it both ways, but I think my tool was not correctly sized hence it gave me a lot of trouble. You are correct, with the right tool, it should not be a big deal, going with user error here ... =), and yes probably one of the best-sounding pipes out there.
Outstanding pair of exhaust. I have the same bike and I was considering also Mistral, but I think Agostini will be the one brand I'll buy. It sound incredible. Where did you buy them to? Is is enough by just telling them I want the short version of the exhaust for the V7 Stone 2022?
AF1 racing is my go to Guzzi Store, highly recommend.
What did you do about tuning this bike after you added the exhaust? Did you just keep it at the dealer tune? Been struggling to find a lot of tuning options for the 850 model.
When I made the video there was nothing out there yet. Now there is UP map, I can recommend it, just tuned my V100 for the cat delete and big bore headers, was a breeze, no drama.
I went with Mistral for my V7 but certainly considered Agostini after watching, the drive by shots really sold it! At the end of the day they just sounded too much like my Guzzi Tech Griso exhaust and wanted something different. Just hope the DB killers on Mistrals are easier to remove.
I don’t think you can go wrong either way. I just put a Mistral on my V100 and it sounds very good. Its a Agostini header /Y pipe with the mistral end can. On my V85 i had it reverse, they all sound good in their own way … ;)

You weren’t using those circlip pliers correctly. So it’s not Agostini’s fault for using a circlip to hold the DB in.
Yes, I bought them at the hardware store and figured out after that they were not the correct ones. Lesson learned ... =)
what fly shield is that?
That is an Isotta Flyshield, I did change it to the GCorse fairing though, which I liked much better. There is a video about it on the channel.

If you use the proper tool to remove the clip holding in the DB killer you wouldn't have had an issue removing it, don't blame the company use the right tools! You need circlip pliers if you are unaware.
Except I did if you watch closely in the video, lol. It may have been user error but from what I could tell. my extensions that went into the holes of the clips, kept bending and sliding out.
@@ThatGermanFella You have the wrong kind of snap-ring pliers. For that job you need a set of convertibles. They splay the tips a c-hair on an outside ring like that one so the ring stays locked into the tool. You don't want those rings flying around, at all. One time I had a ring get loose when I was taking it out of a boring machine transmission and it stuck itself into the plywood wall behind the bench. Check out some convertible-style snap-ring pliers and you'll see what I mean. Snap-on makes a nice set and they hold up for decades on the job. They're pricey, but a good tool with a lifetime+ forever warranty. I think my set is from Cornwall tools, they're very good too, but a bit harder to find. Nice video btw! The exhaust sounds great, strong and throaty.

@@ThatGermanFella I thought you might appreciate a little advice from a mechanic. The convertibles look cheesey from a distance but work like a charm, very good tools indeed, providing that you buy a professional quality set of course. Made in China won't cut it with that type of tool as they require a quality, properly hardened steel to function under the considerable tension of snap-rings. Most sets come in 3 sizes and in both straight and 90* angle tips. That gives you 6 pliers total in a typical set. Then what you do is pop the 1/4 turn lock and put the 2 halves on the other setting so they convert from inside snap ring pliers to outside snap ring pliers. This makes a set of 6 operate like 12 different tools. I'm sure you can find a video on here somewhere showing you how to operate them, although if you held them in your hand they would make perfect sense. Online shopping is what it is and it never hurts to do a little quick research so you can see exactly what I mean. Anyway, best of luck with the bike, she's a sweetheart.
P.S. I just checked my set and they are Cornwells (Cornwell Tools in Ohio, USA). Unfortunately the set is about 20 years old and the sticker on the box is long gone. The part number on the big, straight tip pliers in the set is ML-3402R. I don't know if they still use the same number as that pair of pliers is ~ 20 years old, but that particular pair would be about right for that snap ring in your exhaust system. I've used that set for 20 years on the job as a big truck(lorry) mechanic and never once bent a tip, so the tool quality is certainly there. They have served me well.

I have the same bike, and the previous owner took off the exhaust. it's obnoxiously loud, which is hard to capture on camera. The straight pipes sound a lot quieter on the video. I plan on getting an agostini exhaust not only for my eardrums sake, but also for my neighbors lol
@@SUPERPUKE Haha fair enough, video does tend to make stuff sound quieter than it actually is. Through the video it sounded great to me but I can imagine it being super loud IRL :D

You would be correct, first time I dealt with a tool like that and it was not the correct one, making things worse. Although I still think a different design would be better. But yes, it was a user error after looking more into it.
Did you sell your v7? Looking into getting one. As nothing else looks and sounds interesting
I did sadly but I keep looking at the Special Edition, other than a GCorse fairing it comes pretty much ready from the factory the way I like it and I still have my sliders and air filter for it.
rear fender eliminator would be good. AF1 has them in stock.

Butt dyno seems to indicate a little more grunt but not much to make a difference. Via AF1 Racing tune was not required. They may have one now via UP map but it would void the warranty, so its a 2 edged sword.

My initial fly screen was from Isotta and the 2nd one from GCorse, I ordered them both over AF1racing.com, a great company, they have a direct "wire" to Italy.

Initially I ran the Biondi, before switching to the GCorse fairing which is perfect for the character of the bike in my eyes.
Have you noticed the engine to be running lean with the DB killers out?
Without the proper computer, it is hard to tell and so far I have not seen any for the 850 motors. I can tell you that I have no issues concerning drivability and fuel milage does not indicate a too lean condition on my bike.
Arrow use them too! I broke my Cir clip trying to remove the DK.
I am not a fan of these clips, the Agostini on the V85 just uses a good old-fashioned screw, much better in my opinion.
The DB killers sound terrible anyway. You can hear them rattling around inside the tip when you rev the engine.
Yeah not a fan, hence I ran it without them, just wear earplugs ... lol

@@YangCalgary A tune is always better, but I have been running them with no issues and it woke up the bike IMO. I did however reverse the high-flow air filter to stock to not lean it out any further.

@@manuelstaber5983 Agostini's don't have CAT's, only the stock exhaust has them build in. I am not sure but there might be an option with build in CAT for the Agostini. I got mine from AF1Racing.com, they are very helpful, I would chat with them and see what your options are. Hope this helps.

Great sound! I suppose that stock mufflers must have cat inside. Do Agostini mufflers have cat inside?
Agostini's have no cat inside. Based on the weight of the Stock muffler, I am going with yes that the cat appears to be inside.

@@ThatGermanFelladreamweaver23 weighed the short Mistrals compared to stock and it was about 5 pounds per side lighter and course the factory mufflers are huge!

What sort of remap did you use for having the dB killers out?
Thank you! and no remap at all. I did revert back to the factory air filter as the high-flow one seemed to lean it out too much. Has been running great, not sure if Guzzitech has a custom map at this point, but at the time of installation, nothing was available.
@@ThatGermanFella So you haven't had any issues in conjunction w/ OEM air filter. have you looked at the plugs? Reason I'm asking, my set of Agostini were just delivered.
@@jacksdad7933 I have not checked the plugs. She was running with no issues and made good power. Take a look at my top-speed run video and you know what I mean ... =). I check Guzzitech periodically but they still don't have a reflash tool for the newer V7's.
@@ThatGermanFella Will do, mine only has 397 mi so under 4k rpm. Have a Rapidbike Easy ordered but will be 4 weeks, should help ensure not running too lean. I live and ride mountain twisties 3500-5500 ft El.
Update sent RBE back as Dimsport said it wasn't for 2021 models. Seem we are awaiting GTM to come up w/mapping + re-flash tool supposedly they will released soon. Mine seems to run fine w/ Db killers in and OEM air filter slight popping on decel.

For a long ride which I have coming up they will be perfect. I have a 2014 V7 also and will never sell either of them. I love V7s they are perfect. They become your friend ya get a real connection with them I feel
Very good! I have the longer reverse coned Agostini's in the same color on my bike. I much prefer without DB killers. Great to get the attention of drivers around you with the blip of the throttle. I use a special set of snap ring pilers to take the baffles in and out as needed but i primarily do not use DB killers. AF1 racing is one of the best MG dealers in the nation. If you go out there and they have time they will give you a full tour of their facilities. World class guys and girls! I take my bike from Houston to them to Austin if i have a warranty claim, definitely worth the drive! You make great quality video, keep up the good work!
Thank you! I tried to deal with Xtreme in Houston to buy a MG Racer, it was awful. Ended up not getting it, so I see your point going to Austin for sure. I have the special tool but it was still very difficult, maybe user error? ... lol As for AF1, I am very impressed, I am gravitating towards Energica for my first electric bike and they are the only game in town, so this is a good test how easy they are to deal with.
@@ThatGermanFella I got my bike from TeamXtreme and they're total scammers. I wouldn't recommend anyone doing business with them! (They recently changed their name to full throttle powersports to try to shake their bad reputation) If I ever run into you I'll tell you the whole story. No kidding, AF1 really saved my ass and made me give Moto Guzzi a second chance, couldn't be happier!!

I also used to work in Houston and still have several friends there and will be visiting sooner than later with the V85. Luckily I only have to make it to Conroe ... lol
@@ThatGermanFella Well I'm in Magnolia which isn't too far from there. Definitely need to meet up in Anderson on highway 3039. Beautiful road out there. It's the closest thing we have to curvy roads around Houston. Lol.
