    Buying a $300 iPod or sneakers is not comparable to a $40k + vehicle - not to mention that this is an investment that affects your life in so many ways.
    Because of this I think centers should be setup to see (and ideally test drive) these vehicles.
    I’m of the type that test drives more cars than I buy - the drive/feel means so much to me, not just ascetics

    Not being able to test drive it myself isn’t a dealbreaker for me, as long as I’ve seen some of the established UA-cam Car-Channels review the ocean, I’m good with that (being able to sit in one at an experience center would help a lot). And confirmation on a couple of important stats like real world range vs. Charging speed and cargo space is a must for me.

    • @Aslash304

      Charging speed is important for sure. Would love to know how the Ocean interacts with Electrify America unit. Let’s hope we get a chance see them in person soon. Thanks for your comment, Cheers!

    We originally were going to go with an Ultra, but didn't want to wait as long as orginally planned to receive it. We flinched and instead went for the Ocean One really for the added features. Now that the new tax bill may reduce the size of the tax credit, we are still sticking with the One but are a bit dismayed at when we will actually receive it. If we get it sometime next June or July then fine we'll make it work but i'm starting to feel a bit taken advantage of.

    • @Aslash304
      @Aslash304  2 роки тому

      They could have done a much better job with the rollout and announcing features, so consumers could make more informed choices. I think you’ll be happy to get the Ocean One, and I think it will be the only Ocean Model with a good chance of getting the tax credit. Thanks for your comment, Cheers!

    The lack of specifications like headrrom is a deal buster. The Kia EV-6 test drive gave me a backache and I could not see out of the windshield nor even get into the rear seat. The Genesis GV60 was very comfortable but I could not get into the rear seat. The bottom line it is absurd for most people to buy any car lest alone one costing so much without being able to see or test it.

    • @Aslash304

      Makes sense. There are still a lot of mysteries surrounding this car. And I think there will be many who decide on something else because it is actually available to drive and test. Thanks for your comment, Cheers!

    Another great video! For me I look at like this. Tesla and even Rivian started out similarly. Reservation holders didn’t have a product to test drive and had to lock in there trims sight unseen. Fisker is no different there. I think people also have to keep in mind they don’t have to build a brand new manufacturing plant to start building from scratch. Instead Fisker partnered with one of the top auto manufacturers in the world Magna Steyer! For me it shows Henrick Fisker knows what he’s good at…design and getting an experienced company to help bring his vision to life. I was sold after watching the German vlogger sit in and walk around showing me the Fisker Ocean. Personally, I can’t wait to get my Fisker Ocean Ultra!

    • @Aslash304
      @Aslash304  2 роки тому +1

      You’re exactly right about Tesla and Rivian. As long as Magna/Fisker get the parts supply, the Manufacturing should go decently smooth. I love the design! I’m sure it will look even better in person. Thanks for your comment, Cheers!

    In reply to 2 of your questions...
    I actually do test drive lots of vehicles when purchasing. This time around I could only drive a Polestar, which I liked a lot.
    I tried to test drive a kia ev6, but the dealership wouldn't let me. They told me I could only test drive it after I agreed to the numbers. I said get lost and walked out.
    Everyone else (Ford, VW, Nissan etc) didn't have any EVs. I was going to get the Polestar, but they shut off orders for the 2022 and none of the pre-configured models available fit what I wanted. Shortly after I discovered Fisker and put down my deposit.

    Agree 100% about test drives. They only exist to convince fence-sitters to buy the car. And most every new car will drive great Going a few miles around the neighborhood tells you next to nothing about how the car will be on a day to day basis.

    I'm as frustrated as you are with Fisker. Their lack of meaningful communications is concerning. I keep analyzing if I am just going to wait or go and buy an available EV. I think the reservations don't mean much at this point unless we are willing to shell out $69k. I think that is all that they are interested in selling for as long as they can. I get the feeling that they are interested most in showing their investors how much interest there is in their cars. I don't see anyway that they are going to be able to do Flexe leases for $379 per month. I don't think its honest. Red flags all around. Oh and trying to raise another $350 million for the Pear is just another concern. This company is going to lose a ton of money to start and they don't have full control what their partner manufacturers are doing and how they will or will not prioritize Fisker branded products. If they are really on time, they need to communicate a lot better!

    Great video that addresses questions I've had, too. As a buffer to potential disappointment in the seat comfort, specs, handling, servicing, etc., I've decided to use the open-ended, no-penalty lease option so that I can turn it back in if I don't like it. I'm in a rental car now, which I wouldn't buy due to lack of seat adjustability. I hope my Ocean doesn't disappoint.

I am hoping that by July 1st they’ll have a few regional centers opening up. Maybe they don’t want to pour their resources into a travelling circus of a thousand test drives. But they could limit it to those of us who have reservations!

    Dealerships add anxiety and cost and offer little in return. As Ford recently re-discovered during its Lightning delivery, dealerships can become a problem rather than the solution they promise to be, especially when they add their own charges just for being the place where you pick up the keys. I would gladly give up the ability to test drive to keep the "mark-up" along with the 100 plus little incidental charges, in my pocket. You can't even argue after sale service anymore as most of that spirals into an "up-sell" game. Like any other dinosaur, if it can't evolve, it's bound to go extinct.

    I have a reservation. I can justify this vehicle only if it receives the tow rating of 3,500 lbs or more; If I end up needing to keep my current tow vehicle I can not justify the cost. The 4000lb tow rating opens up an number of recreation activities such as towing boats and Jet Skies, A Side by side or small rv trailer and makes it an viable alternative to the Model Y.

    No one test drives?!?! Really!?!? I too am super excited for Ocean and have my reservation, but to say that " I'm going to buy the car just because it has the Fisker name on it and believe all the hype and advertising without even driving the car once" is complete lack of objectivety and pure fanatism. I (and almost everyone I know) test drives a lot of cars before deciding on which one they want. They especially test drive the car that they'd been waiting for a while...to know whether their expectation is matching with reality. These are $50k+ investments we're talking of, for God's sake. Not a phone or shoe that could be swapped at will.

    I agree we do tend to make decisions based on emotional attachment. Absolutely.
    The one thing so far with the Fisker Ocean that I’d need to see (even in video, not necessarily in person,) is the software.

    I ordered Sport, but now thinking upgrading to Ultra, not sure the AWD with torque vectoring with additional 90 mile range worth extra USD 10K. I go long drives and I use airbed in the car, as rear seats fold it is excellent, but I would need the FRUNK to keep my lugguage, and have a decent sleeping space ( I am 5'-6") so I don't have to take a Hotel and shower at TA or Pilot. That's the biggest gripe. Also if roof is for solar then Frunk is very important.

    Hmm... I'd never buy a car I hadn't test driven. I've test driven dozens of cars I didn't end up buying because of comfort, room, poor ergonomics, poor drivetrain, etc. I'm well over 6 foot tall. I won't buy a car I'm not comfortable in. I've only tolerated the poor entry and exit of my used Model 3 because I really wanted it. A MYP is on order. I was the same way on Tesla. Very very skeptical until I sat in one and test drove one. I'm not giving a new EV company any benefit of the doubt just because they're a new EV company. I am open to being impressed.

    Iin 2019 was able to test drive a Tesla 3 before buying from a dealership less than an hour away. In 2021 my partner was able to test drive a Tesla Y before buying. Teslas have been out so long that there has been plenty of postings from owners to give one a good idea of how well the car handles etc. The fact that the same cannot be said for the Ocean has kept me from reserving one, though I like the looks of it very much. For me it is way too much money to risk making a purchase commitment on a car that so little is known about.

    The most interesting rumor I’ve heard lately is the idea that they’ll have a kind of traveling road show thing where they take some cars on the road to let people test drive, prioritizing reservation holders. I think by the time they get around to it, if you wanted a One and maybe even an Extreme you may have already had to commit by then, but if your in the fence between an Ultra and a Sport, or about converting at all, it could be an interesting thing.
    Personally though, I’m with you that I know enough about the car that my purchase decision is made without need for a test drive. Videos of content producers sitting in the car at Mobile World Congress, or the vloggers that got to sit in while it was sitting at his house showed me what I needed to know. The car isn’t going to mysteriously lose a bunch of rear leg room or become unacceptably short on head room. The cars dimensions are what they are at this point, whether published in detail or not.
    As far as experience centers, meh. They’ve never indicated they will stand up more than a few of them, and they are on target for their public timeline with them. If someone doesn’t like that timeline, that’s fine, but it’s not a red flag for me because it’s not like they promised they would have a bunch of them open by now and blew past the deadline.

    • @billhurt3644
      @billhurt3644 2 роки тому +1

      The commenter in your video also seems concerned about the recent ATM securities issue Fisker did. Personally, I don’t see this as a red flag. It’s a modest issuance, specifically declared to fund a known vehicle that has obvious development costs. I think that once the Ocean is launched and Fisker is bringing in real revenue they may have less need for this kind of maneuver, but for now it’s understandable and not out of the ordinary for a company of this size.
      And finally, the allegation that Magna could possibly deprioritize Fisker’s cars and build something else without notice is just weird. How stupid would anyone have to be to enter into a manufacturing agreement like this without solid guarantees that you will be provided with the manufacturing capacity you are contracting for in the time frame you have specified. No one would do that. And when you look at the car manufacturing industry right now, Magna has no reason to WANT to deprioritize Fisker. Most or all of Magnas other clients are having supply chain problems severe enough that Magna most likely has lots of EXCESS inventory to give to Fisker if and when Fisker can commit to utilizing it. This is probably why Fisker keeps mentioning in passing that they can probably manufacture more than their promised numbers if demand stays strong. Because if anything Magna is probably constantly trying to get Fisker to commit to buying more capacity because Mercedes and others are cutting back.
      There legitimate reasons to wonder if Fisker can really produce the number of cars they say they can on the promised timeline, but to me, most of those reasons have to do with component suppliers. I’m not worried in the slightest about their agreements with Magna.
      Can Fisker really avoid the chip shortages that are crippling the entire rest of the industry? Can they buy enough manufacturing capacity to turn enough t shirts and fishing nets into car interiors? Can they really convince the EPA that the Ocean has 340 miles of range? These are legitimate questions that can be asked. But your commenter seems to me to just be a pessimistic person looking for things to be worried about, and none of their red flags strike me as all that concerning.

    Chevy lowering price of the 259-mile 65 kWh Bolt EV to $26,000 is what makes me less likely to purchase the Ocean. Still, a base-level Ocean Sport with an 80 kWh battery (23% larger than the Bolt battery) would still be appealing, even with its higher price.

    Biggest red flag for me... Would be the recent delays for the summer of 2022 events and demos. From my understanding, Fisker was planning to have an action packed summer (California mode obvi). With press, hype, demos, There was even talks of a One preorder holder event to come out and get to see the car and drive it, sorta like the events Tesla holds. All of that was canceled by what seems to be severe software issues and delays. Their app not being updated in a long time is maybe part of that? The software to run the car, its systems (battery management, etc.) is not slated to be ready until October. A week or so before production start. I am seriously worried about delays for 2022. When you have most automakers struggling with the software, that does not look like a good sign to cancel the summer launch stuff and hype build. Like you said, going Viral and making it big takes a big wow moment to happen. I feel Fisker lost this summer due to software issues.
    Curiously, I decided to go check out Glassdoor to see if there were any signs of internal "working for Fisker" insight from current and previous employees. I was surprised at the disfunction that appears to be all over the company. Which is extra worrying when big delays are announced and deadlines are so tight for really everything that runs the car.
    EDIT* - The disfunction reported by Glassdoor do not suggest there isn't talent in Fisker. Only that Henrik and Geeta sound like tyrants. It is of course hard to trust those sorts of things 100%, because of retaliation from upset or fired employees. However, all the negatives had pretty much the same message, which tends to land true for companies I have ever worked for, and the negatives collected from employer reviews.

      @@Aslash304 Nice! Did you get word of Fisker selling out of the Ones? I thought that would be a hard sell to get 5000 like that. Perhaps that does reflect well on at least the demand side for what they are building.
      I figured the vast majority of preorders would be for the Sport and Ultra (including fleet orders). $75k is a lot of money, and there are a lot of options in that price bracket. selling out 5000 One's means that 10% of their entire preorder backlog are willing to commit a minimum of 5k. That could bode well. I imagine that there will be lots of extremes available once they get done with the One. I don't know how much demand for the extreme there will be in current orders. Why wouldn't you get the One if you wanted the extreme?

I would wait for the extreme to get a better shot at solid fit and finish, and updated software.
