Lord, ok... We just watched episode 6 last night and I was hoping for a little brake tap on the hostility and maybe some redeeming behavior 😩😂 Let me get my mind right!
"I thought that was just a floating moment" what a human louis ass thing to say lmao. that's how he justified all the weird stuff lestat did before he found out about him
Louie was ripe for anything outside his normal mundane, although profitable life so when the Lestat showed up, you know being a closeted, black gay man admiring the man and then wanting to kill the man, he was intrigued curious. You noticed when they first hooked up, it was Louis who jumped at the chance to get at Lestat.
Every aspect of film making comes together here. The set, the music, the acting, etc. I like the fight being shown from Claudias perspective mostly . It really takes the horrors of domestic violence/toxic relationships and places vampires so believably in that context. Nice call out on details such as his accent almost being gone in the modern day setting.
The fight was really challenging to watch, but I can absolutely say that it would be a scene I would describe when explaining the strength of the show and how well it delivers its intended message. I can't say enough about the acting, the three of them are just incredible.
Great reaction! The way you both reacted when they started showing the body parts and the way you said Claudia's name made me laugh. I cannot wait for your reactions to the next two episodes.
Damn ya'll really read Bruce like that book he tried to give claudia! This episode is absolutely wild. I feel like no one gives my man Daniel enough credit for setting boundaries and standing his ground. Hes not one of Lois' walking juice box's he didnt come there to serve at Louis' pleasure. This is an interview not a biography
I love how sometimes you both have opposing views on things. Each time I watch the series, my opinions fluctuate, which is why I love this show, it's complex and sometimes difficult to judge who is right and who is wrong.
Absolutely! You should hear the parts we don't cut out 🤣 I think a rewatch in general is going to be fascinating because we do miss things as we talk through the episode, so I can't wait to go back and be like, "Oh dang, should I not have been defending Louis there...?"
When you consider the science that says a brain isn’t fully formed until someone turns 25 years old, it’s arguable that yes, Claudia will never have the full function of an adult, however, she will still carry the wisdom of her years of existence.
Lestat marked Tom Anderson on the face with an x while Louis marked the police chief because they realized Anderson had lured them there under the pretext of asking for a campaign donation while actually giving the police a chance to search their home without them being there. When they realized that, Lestat stopped time and marked them as a warning to stay away from them. You asked why Lestat said they couldn't go to Paris. Lestat came from Paris. He has quite the history there. You'll find out more about that in season two.
I think you guys came out of this episode feeling EXACTLY how the show wants you to feel. I remember feeling exactly the same as you guys and a bunch of other people within the fandom echoed those sentiments.... Like it was really really extreme... HOW do we move forward from this point?!?? But we do. The story does continue. And I'm really excited to see what you guys think about the story as it moves forward! 😊 But yeah this episode was an extremely rough one. A very significant turning point, for sure. Further showing Lestats SEVERE abandonment issues. Because it has been mentioned in previous episodes that vampires can sustain a LOT of physical injury and still survive it'll just take months and months of healing to fully get back to normal... part of Lestats thought process is "I'm going to make sure that you can't physically leave for a long time". Which is extremely dark but there is unfortunately vampire logic behind his decision to severely physically injure Louis after being threatened with abandonment. I think this episode and the physical beating would be a LOT of people's last straw within a relationship(hell I know of some people who completely dropped the show after this episode) or at least you'd hope so in real life that it would be a person's last straw.... We will have to see in the episodes to come how Louis handles it.
Can't wait for yall to react to the next episode. This show's title should be changed to "THE WRITING IS ON THE WALL". You'll have no idea where they are going next, but finding hints after rewatching just makes you realize there was nowhere else for the narrative to go. Everything always points in one direction(Louis...THEE Vampire... THEE Creole banjee bitch from Louisiana). There are no breaks on this roller coaster, only steep climbs and drops that launch like a rocket racing a bullet. I think ep 5 is the real threshold of the greater story of Louis (and Lestat & Claudia as well) because of the official destruction of their family unit. The jealous narcissistic mother, the dismissive housewife, and the “mistake” they BOTH made.
I love that we get such different views in one reaction! I'm definitely more aligned with the lady the right because I'm here for Louis but still like that yall can call him out when he's wrong. I mean, they're all differing levels of wrong (Lestat is comfortably at the TOP of the totem pole lol!)
15:53 I disagree. Daniel isn't asking about what happened to Claudia out of his own curiosity, he's asking because it just presented itself. If Louie is going to present this section of her diary, he should also be prepared to discuss it.
I love y’all’s reactions!!! Please keep going. I know it seems too crazy but you can’t live forever and only have peace lol I think you would be bored. Yes Claudia is our little psychopath. She is actually doing better than I would if I had to be my 14 year old self for eternity. Can you imagine? Whew!!! Yes they definitely needed to break up. lol Like get some therapy and maybe try again in 100 years 😂 But that would be too much like right. And I don’t think it would make for a good show. At least this is fake and we don’t have to worry about real life consequences with these two, well three like if they were love and hip hop lol I’m subscribed so hopefully we get more reactions!!!! Thank you!!!
The writers did a great job at showing why it's not a good idea to turn children into vampires poor claudia physically she will be stuck in the body of a child she's not strong enough to protect herself from other more powerful vampires plus she can't make them
OK! See, this is something that we haven't really unpacked. Her age is impacting her strength as well, which is really interesting and makes sense. Thank you for calling that out. We've talked about the mental downstream, but we really hadn't touched the physical.
Yes Louis AND Lestat made Claudia. Louis didn't force Lestat to make Claudia. Claudia is unhinged. She has a girl body but she has an adult mind. They are all three vampires who do horrible things at times. Louis takes accountability more than Lestat ever does. I hardly hear any criticism of Lestat but a microscope is on Louis and all of his mistakes smh
So, I agree that they both participated in the making of Claudia, but Claudia would not have been turned if Louis didn't want to. Lestat was pretty clear on how he felt about it. To be honest, we've been avoiding any and all reactions/articles/clips of the show because we don't want to run into spoilers, so I can't speak to the general reaction. What I will say is that because Louis tends to make more of an attempt at a moral high ground, that may be why it leaves him open to more criticism from people. Lestat is relatively unapologetic in the monstrous behavior. This is obviously dependent on an audience that is open to both characters and not looking for other reasons to be more critical of Louis. I've been pretty open that I'm here for Louis 😂, probably to a fault, but as you said they all do horrible things. A healthy amount of criticism is bound to happen when it comes to characters who are "monsters". There's something to be said that I can want accountability but I can still enjoy him as much as I do as a character. Now, I may blindly support Claudia, but I can't seem to help myself. Akaya is more balanced, so thank goodness there are two of us! You have me excited to watch other channels once we finish so I can be like, "Oh, is that how people felt about that scene?!"
I agree that people are more critical of Louis than Lestat and it can get a bit weird. Case in point when Lestat's physical abuse and the manipulation/controling issues are excused as " it's his trauma making him act that way". Lestat's trauma is due to events that happened years prior to meeting Louis but Louis isn't given understanding for doing bad things due to trauma from events that have just happened and are still happening to him. I don't condone his bad actions (killing racists isn't bad to me so I completely condone that) but I can understand how/why he does them. I also agree that both Louis and Lestat made Claudia but I think it's important to realise the power imbalance in the decision-making when she was made. Lestat is responsible for literally turning her, but Louis is responsible for wanting to turn her AND for manipulating Lestat to do it by telling him that he would stay with him if he did. He used Lestat's biggest fear of loneliness and losing Louis to coerce Lestat. Her turning is quite similar to Louis'. Lestat did give him an opportunity to say no to Vampirism but he didn't really have a true choice. He had just seen Lestat brutally murder his (Louis) priests, Louis was feeling isolated from his family, had just lost Miss Lily (RIP, still mad at Lestat for killing her) and Paul and was about to take his own life. Lestat also used Louis' desire for acceptance to lure him into vampirism. Louis was VERY vulnerable. All that to say, at first glance it looks like one thing (Louis consented/Lestat chose to turn Claudia, but on a deeper look, it isn't so black and white). Obviously one is more sinister than the other but they're quite similar. I agree that from what we see in the past Louis takes more responsibility than Lestat, but I think it's worth noting that this is Louis telling the story and it's been years since the events of the story. We don't know what Lestat is taking or not taking responsibility for other than what Louis is telling us because we aren't watching him tell the story. Louis on the other hand is telling the story after a lot of time has passed and is still making excuses for some of this actions. I want Lestat to take responsibility for his actions when he tells his story, too. I hope I didn't come off as a Lestat apologist, Louis is my baby and Lestat is... interesting, but I have to love Louis and still hold him accountable the same way I want Lestat's fans to do the same.
This show is all gas no brakes with every episode and season 2 only adds more layers to everything from season 1.
Lord, ok... We just watched episode 6 last night and I was hoping for a little brake tap on the hostility and maybe some redeeming behavior 😩😂
Let me get my mind right!
"I thought that was just a floating moment" what a human louis ass thing to say lmao. that's how he justified all the weird stuff lestat did before he found out about him
It only makes sense that I would start thinking like him... too much quality time.
Louie was ripe for anything outside his normal mundane, although profitable life so when the Lestat showed up, you know being a closeted, black gay man admiring the man and then wanting to kill the man, he was intrigued curious. "He's got tricks is all."

They are clocking every little detail built into the show that other people miss.
The fight was really challenging to watch, but I can absolutely say that it would be a scene I would describe when explaining the strength of the show and how well it delivers its intended message.
I can't say enough about the acting, the three of them are just incredible.
Louis telling Claudia "it's over, just stay where you are ok?"
Victim trying to hide abuse from the child. It breaks me every time😢
Great reaction! The way you both reacted when they started showing the body parts and the way you said Claudia's name made me laugh. I cannot wait for your reactions to the next two episodes.

Not the Juice boxes😂😂😂. Louis was right in my opinion to be angered by Molloy's comments but Daniel was telling the truth. Louis deserved that slap.
Lestat wants to avoid Paris, his home. There are dangerous vampires in Europe.
Indeed, there’s only a few ways to kill a vampire dropping them from the sky, is not one.!
I love how sometimes you both have opposing views on things. Each time I watch the series, my opinions fluctuate, which is why I love this show, it's complex and sometimes difficult to judge who is right and who is wrong.

Thank you! That makes sense. We saw the mark but didn't fully understand it at all.
I love your iwtv reactions! It's worth watching everything. The second season came to clarify many things.
I think you guys came out of this episode feeling EXACTLY how the show wants you to feel. I remember feeling exactly the same as you guys and a bunch of other people within the fandom echoed those sentiments.... Like it was really really extreme... HOW do we move forward from this point?!??

Just to be clear, I’m not condoning violence, everything is not always as it seems.
❤❤

Yes, Akaya and I are a house-divided on this too...I would feel the same way if those pages had been presented, but Louis ripped those pages out.
I love y’all’s reactions!!! Please keep going. I know it seems too crazy but you can’t live forever and only have peace lol

It’s called love ladies…
