I rather like the sound of the finished board, though I do agree that a deeper sounding switch in that config would otherwise probably be a better move for a less audibly fatiguing experience. I know a bunch of folks who would love a board like this!
This is a sound from a QK board I did not expect. I really like that they've started to include options that help with reaching a higher pitched sound with the board. I still don't know why there isn't a flexcut-less version of FR4 and Alu and I don't think I'm qualified enough to even speculate why but I think if they removed the flexcuts then they could help the board fit my preference in clack.
When i heard qk100 i was hoping to see a teue 100% like a traditional full size keyboard. Nevertheless, i am glad the kept the full size zero key on the numpad
Oh yeah the sound is MUCH more alive than some other WK’s. I wonder if there will be any way to make that spacebar pop a bit more. I imagine the plateless config would slap.
Interesting hearing your opinion about the QK80 and its stock sound profile. I was impressed with the sound profile that’s a QK80 delivered, especially at the price point of sub $200. With that said, I’m really looking forward to selling my Qk80 and picking up one of these QK100s.
Great video, but please consider colour grading to show a more accurate tone of the case colour. These overly produced videos are really quite deceptive and not representative of the case colour of these offerings. Otherwise informative.
My God, I keep coming back to this sound test, it is so good!! :D I can't find the switches anybody know where I can get them or what might sound similar?
Flex > Bounce. I prioritize typing feel over acoustics any day, especially when you can tune the sound in any number of ways but can only do so much to change typing feel. Give me the meme cuts.
I was excited up until you began typing on it and my ears felt like they were being stabbed with a knife. Wish we could have heard one of the other plates since you had them all right there.
@@prestonvarner611 Budget: Adjective; Inexpensive. Custom: Adjective; Custom-made Budget would be, at most, ~$100 for a completed custom keyboard. Theres plenty of very good keyboards around that price now. I couldn't be bothered going down the rabbit hole, I bought a Reddragon k649 pro. Fantastic keyboard. Solid 8/10 out of the box without doing anything. $60 USD by the way. I suggest you see how far $60 can go before you try to frame the meaning of budget. @@prestonvarner611 I didn't think it was good at first, I listened to other enthusiasts who said it was good. Then I got it. You're just trying to justify how much you've spent. That's why I mentioned the brand I have. Under 250 is not cheap for a custom keyboard when you can get an 8/10 experience out of the box for $60 USD and an enthusiast could get it to 8.5-9/10 with a little time and still come under $100 USD. So you think paying 250% to get a 10/10 frame is cheap? Okay. You've probably been in the hobby for years. I only looked at custom keyboards a year ago, right when the budget market started to come leaps and bounds in quality, within spitting distance of the higher end. Our ears must be completely different. Even the stock QK80 sounds significantly more statisfying than this, I wouldn't be able to stand my typing to sound like this for a minute tbh. Also I wish QK would start to pivot into making and keeping their product available rather than relying on the terrible GB customer experience even now. Wow for a QK board with no foams to sound that good. They have come a very long way.
Just ordered the Anodized Red with Gold, Wired, and FR4 plate!
Terrific editing. Impressive review, thanks.
another QK classic! Another star for them as always. ⭐

Dang, i guess going for a Pom or PC plate would help along with a more muted switch like an Ink or milky housing. Still the sound is nice and clean.

flexcuts on the harder plates don't really affect the sound profile based on our tests - ofc it is subjective, not scientific

Can you get these switches only with the board?
Thank you for a very well-made and informative review. 🙏
Oh god, every time I see a QK board, I want it...
the hotswap trimode pcbs don’t support qmk/via. they support the QK firmware.
I feel like QK boards always have a slightly "deader" or "less lively" sound, I have no idea why... Maybe it's because of the material?
Thank you for the video. I love the sound! Can you tell me the type of switch? And where did you get it?
It sounds like the Lego building sound… I need this in my life
What kind of keycaps are those ?
have you tried to run this plateless? looks like its possible since one of the mounting solutions is on the pcb.
he didn't get a solder pcb so it'd be showcasing something he wouldn't suggest people doing with hotswap pcb
Hi, wanna ask how the QK01 switch feel and sound? Are they muted like gateron oil king? Thanks
My QK80 sounds very thunky without foam. This one is quite lively.
maybe a year to late to htis discussion, can you build the board without the lil digital screen? just put some switches in there instead?
would you say it sounds better without foam compare to the previous qk models ? seems like it for me ;)
