- We're going on tour to visit some of the top hotrod shops that build cars here in Queensland Australia. Today we're here at East Coast Race Cars. Craig is considered one of the top traditional hotrod builders in Australia who builds, restores and modifies traditional hotrods.

Them talking about the car being in a movie. Two of our 57s (around 1981 or so) were in a movie called "Crisis at Central High", about the integration of Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas which happened in the late 1950s. Joanne Woodward was the main star. As a matter of fact, my wife and her sister were extras in the movie too. They took our two main 57s Chevys (I had to make some quick changes on mine...replace the hood, put stock wheels and tires on etc), painted them as Police Cars from the period, using black water-based paint promising the paint would not hurt them. Well, that was in one of the hottest summers we had ever had up to that time and the paint cooked on. Ruined the paint so they had to pay me to repaint them. No big deal because I was always doing something to those cars...engine changes, different colors, cams, rear gears, etc. Friends told me I need to put zippers on my engines, I had them out so often. :)

Good day mates how are you two today? I really enjoyed the visit to Craig's shop today. He is really well equipped to do engine and body construction, that is quite the shop that he has there. I found the visit to be absolutely fascinating and I learned quite a bit. Thank you again Chad & Jolene for taking us along on your journey, I really appreciate it and I am sure that everyone else does too.

They've both been signing a lot of things. It's up to the owner of the vehicle as to what signatures they would like.
So far from what I have seen is down in Australia they like the older cars more than the new stuff. I can tell Chad and Jolene like this.

I was a u.s park service ranger in a California national park for 24 years, and whenever I started talking to the Australians they would tell me they were hunting for car parts in California for there cars, this happened many times!
Chad was asking a lot of questions about aluminum fabrication. I think we will see more aluminum incorporated in future builds....

I've seen a lot of flatheads Chad and that's one of the best sounding flatheads I've ever heard I didn't get a close-up of the engine wondering if it has the often Hauser triple or dual intake manifold ask that fellow if he's got a Johnson tapit tool

Qld is a great state but you need to come back again and do more of Aus.
NSW and Victoria next time.
Victoria is more similar to Canada but without the snow unless you go up in out mountains in Winter.
Same sort of car culture in Vic and NSW , heck all over Aus.

It's cool watching bad Chad's Australian antique car tour. That would be cool if Chad built something like that guy's wonglepong speedco. 36 Ford. Being American I am sure they make fun of how we talk but it's funny to hear how they say things. Like the cold farts warmed up one or a pessure pack.
