Using unreal vs unity feels like modding a first person shooter. The composition approach of unity vs inheritance approach of unreal makes more sense for game programming. This is why it feels like modding a first person shooter. It's sort of baked in at the top of their inheritance hierarchy on their API. And Unreal 5.0 has nothing like Unity's Input System that I'm aware of. I wanted to get touch pressure for a mobile app I was prototyping, and you can't get it in Unreal... The coordinates and time stamp, but not the pressure. Which was important for what I wanted to protype. One guy asked about it on the forums a while back, and it was crickets. Appears me and him are the only ones that care about it. I realize mobile is an afterthought for Unreal, but this was surprising. I had to switch back to Unity. Which I prefer after months of screwing around with Unreal just to protype things. Really stifled my creativity. So I disagree with the comment that it takes inhuman skill and effort to use Unreal. It's the opposite in my opinion. Coming from someone with equal experience in C++ and C#, so that's not a factor here. Blueprints in Unreal are useless beyond a high-level interface to code for the artists (this is how they're meant to be used, but this is usually not made clear to beginners). I would argue far more complex to "code" with than C++. All actual game code and processing from frame to frame will be in C++ in a real project, and unless you're making a first or third person shooter like game, you'll be deriving the majority of your objects from AActor and implementing everything else yourself. That's a bit of an exaggeration, but accurate I think for anything beyond these basic tech demos we've seen so far. We will know when postmortems are published years from now for these next gen games that are using the Unreal engine (no doubt sponsored by Epic to do so).

some random guy that youtube recommended to me did a super beautiful and wonderful job in 3d, everything is fine and beautiful characters and great backgrounds, everything is perfect, physics deserves a separate award, meanwhile game studios with billions of dollars are doing crooked shit, where the world is going
Theres an easy answer to that, money attracts more than beauty, why waste the money time and effort to make the most beautiful game the world has ever seen if: 1: the game requires a decade to make, because frankly if you make a super beautiful game it WILL take a decade to finish due to the sheer amount of detail included 2: the storytelling required to make the story of said super beautiful game entertaining because graphics arent everything in a game, its pleasing to the eyes but as a grand strategy player a litteral map is peak gameplay 3: the limitations of the great graphics, not everyone has a computer that can run high quality graphics nor can afford one such thing, it severely reduces the benefits of the wonderfull art we are shown and an entire game worth of that is just hell, great to watch but not to play. 4: the demands for such a game, do you truly want to play something as or even more beautiful on many points than a movie? Then whats the kinda game you wanna make? You cant satisfy everyone with but 1 game. 5: while develloping that game you still need money, you still need constant updates you still need to show the investors that what you are doing works because really they would be the only one bringing in the money and the success would be a gamble. Ultimately the reasons we cant have such a beautiful game is that well, as great as it sound, theres no point making something that only devs and artists can enjoy where most gamers would just be unable to even play because we arent filthy rich, it doesnt bring in nezrly enough money for a large investment. Not to say im happy with the large game studio being lazy asf just pumping money grabbing crappy games each year more distasteful everytime for the sole purpose of making more and more money while not truly caring about the consumer

this is probably the best animation reel ive ever seen in my life. everything is so fluid and its almost 1:1 for how things move in real life. i would play a game made entirely by you or a show made in your style because holy shit.
notice how most of it is small scale, if you made a whole game like this only people with the best computers could play it and it would have to be pc only and you couldn't load the whole game at once or the loading would take forever, a video render is much simpler than live physics computing
Didn’t it take two years for a dude to program Batman’s cape in Arkham Asylum? Don’t see how one person could make a game like this.

you made unity look like unreal. its amazing
This comment and its implications pretty much sum up Unity lol. The inhuman skill and effort required to bring it on par with Unreal Engine.
finally
unireal3d kek
@@paulsaulpaul I have been looking into using unreal engine to create an anime show. (animated miniseries in the style of anime)

It always amazes me when i see on what fidelidty some 3d artist work and i ever wonder how they create such beautiful models, assets and animations. Makes me almost want to jump into it, yet im still too hesitant about the effort it is gonna take and what the outcome will be.
I have only experience in basic and /semi advanced CAD (basic engineering school training, enough to create any shape or object i'd want (as long as it isn't organic), and the know how how to make them 3D printable) suface texturing, hair and advanced bodywork/animation are so faar off my capabilidties that i got no clue how they do such things and i can only think of procedual generation and sculpting techniques must be only a fraction of what they use.
Im blown away, blown away by most of the little worlds you artists make, please show me enough to make me want to start and pull through the journey on my own way to become such an artist! I want to create stunning worlds to wander around and get lost in, i just don't know ... How to get the curage to make the first step

This is so incredibly insane I can’t even put words to it. My jaw is basically inside the ground at this point. So incredibly well made, my gosh
some random guy that youtube recommended to me did a super beautiful and wonderful job in 3d, everything is fine and beautiful characters and great backgrounds, everything is perfect, physics deserves a separate award, meanwhile game studios with billions of dollars are doing crooked shit, where the world is going
Theres an easy answer to that, money attracts more than beauty, why waste the money time and effort to make the most beautiful game the world has ever seen if:
1: the game requires a decade to make, because frankly if you make a super beautiful game it WILL take a decade to finish due to the sheer amount of detail included
2: the storytelling required to make the story of said super beautiful game entertaining because graphics arent everything in a game, its pleasing to the eyes but as a grand strategy player a litteral map is peak gameplay
3: the limitations of the great graphics, not everyone has a computer that can run high quality graphics nor can afford one such thing, it severely reduces the benefits of the wonderfull art we are shown and an entire game worth of that is just hell, great to watch but not to play.
