If you ever get the chance to go to a Tommy Emmanuel concert .. PLEASE GO!!!! I listened to Tommy's recorded music for years, never realizing what a soul-wrenching experiencing it could be to hear him playing live. It was my dream to hear him play live, but I figured my wife and I (on a pension) could never afford it. Anyhow, she quietly saved and saved without me knowing anything about that and on my birthday presented me with two tickets for us to attend a live Tommy Emmanuel concert together. OMG!!!!!!!! I'll never forget the joy of hearing Tommy live and the overwhelming appreciation I felt for my beloved wife. I'll go to my grave remembering it.

As a fan of Wim den Herder (the guy on the left) and Tommy for a long time I love this! Wim is a prodigious and I love his sense of groove and creative phrasing. I don't really get the negative comments as this is a song to riff and play with and nothing was overdone IMO. And Tommy knows exactly what to add and when as always. More!

Wim is a really impressive player but it feels like he just wants to get SO many notes in there. Tommy's solo is so musical, he's just freaking great

it's okay. indeed that is the plan and training. enough we assume they play the guitar together to entertain everyone. and Tommy Emmanuel is an open-minded guitarist. he is happy to see guitarists especially those who are still young can play the guitar well. it shows they are trying their best. continuous effort, will surely bring results...

Interesting opinions on the guy on the left. Awesome guitarist. I think his phrasing is cool too. He's pretty epic for someone who looks like he's been playing half the time tommy has! His name should be in title.

I wish this video had better sound quality. "Isn't she lovely?" is one of my favorite songs. I always think about a woman with whom I am falling in love. Besides, both players let their guitars sing as if the players are singing. Really master-class guitarists. As a novice guitar learner, I hugely and wholeheartedly admire them.

The phrasing and rhythmic precision of both improvisational soloists is perfectly timed and adds each ones favorite playing style to the arrangement, this play through isn’t supposed to build up and climax as the original Steve wonder version this is a chill song with chill chords that these two impeccable guitarist are soloing over like it’s nothing and are having a great time. This isn’t a cover folks this is a solo ham session so treat it like one, they’re soloing and are giving eachother the chance to play evenly, hoe they play is up to them and no doubt better than many folks can pull off

I have read many comments that are critical. This wasn't done for the general public. This was at the Masterclass Guitar Academy so it is most likely the guy on the left is intentionally overplaying. We don't get to hear any comments afterwards where maybe he explained what he was doing and why. If someone was there live and could enlighten us, that would be great. Otherwise everyone is entitled to their opinion. Mine is that this was a wonderful performance by both Tommy and Wim.

"The guy on the left" is Wim den Herder - the owner and founder of the Guitar Academy, which is by now the biggest guitar school in the Netherlands. On this video,Tommy Emmanual is a Guest teacher of the Guitar Academy, as he knows Wim den Herder and supported him in his projets from start. This a masterclass for the students of the conservatory and the Guitar Academy. Wim den Herder changed the guitar landscape in the Netherlands and has invented new way's to play the guitar. If you didn't have a chance yet to meet Wim den Herder in person to learn and respect his work, I strongly recommend you to come to Amsterdam and take a lesson with him , it will be live changing... and then you can share your opinion about it...

Mix it up with Frank Gambale, Lee Ritenour and others while you still can! Who could refuse?
