He is the best guitarist of modern times by a long way.
Watching Tommy play invokes so many emotions in me that I laugh and cry at the same time listening to him. If not the best guitar man alive, then definitely the best entertainer with six strings.
He never gets old and his hands never get slow down. My hero of guitar, please live long!
Happy to be born in this generation to see Tommy perform...there can be none other

We got fictional superheros like Superman and Spiderman, and then We got superheros in the real world. Mr. Emmanuel is one of them. Eric Clapton once said that Mr. Emmanuel is the Best guitar player in the world. After seeing this, I completely agrees with him. Fantastik!
He's up there. But Django had those bends and phrasing. And Gambale has the tricks too. And then there are subtle hard to describe effects common withe jazz guys. But in terms of a modern day Chet Atkins, this sentiment is correct.

Stanley Jordan? Gambale? Holdsworth, Byrd and Metheny? I get your point about diversity in style but there are a lot of people on the planet. I agree he's a contender but it's hard to truly say, obviously
@@stpisls He can jam with any of them but they can't with him on other genres. So Tommy has the versatility which they don't have (In my opinion).
The other thing that makes Tommy stand above those other greats is simply his personality... he exudes joy when he plays, he's warm and funny and engaging. He brings the audience with him on his musical journey. What he has is a rare and beautiful gift. He makes the world a better place. Simple as that.
Tommy E has played guitar boogie so many times it’s become his song and he knows how to play it.
There is a feeling that he was born with a guitar in his hands! Is playing as if breathes!
Tommy it looks like your having as much fun as your audience does.
I always find myself simply captivated by your rhythmic interpretations if songs you choose to play. Thanks for bringing myself and other fans so much pleasure from (Tommy style) guitar playing.

I go on a Tommy video watching binge every two months or so, and I'm always afraid I'm going to start to see Tommy lose his skills as he ages which he eventually will as we all do. But it's so nice to see him still playing at such a high level. And I'm also always reluctant to watch something like guitar Boogie which I've seen him play so many times. But he always manages to keep it fresh. I've noticed the last few shows I've watched him do, he always gives the audience a glimpse into the genius that lives inside his head. I think that's what he was doing here.
The scary thing is he just keeps getting even better :D

If you could only bottle that energy. Know I could use some! He is a phenomenon, for sure. I remember seeing some interview where he says Guitar Boogie was the favorite requested by the aboriginal audiences in the outback.

The fact he played that on a 12 string.. no 6 strings....... what does it matter? He could play this with one string.. he doesn’t need strings.. he is actually a guitar.... guys I just figured out Tommy is actually a guitar and I’ve lost my mind.

Sweep picking - at the most insane level - and don't know who could dislike Tommy.
Sweep picking. Go watch Jason Becker sweep picking back in the 80's on an electric guitar. I can do that on an electric but no way like that on an acoustic guitar. This man is the best of the best and quite versatile. Cheers from Canada!! As for disliking this,, well it's people who know absolutely nothing about how to create music.

@@not490 Yes -- and I have heard the Romero's live in concert. I even met Pepe Romero years ago. And all of these people are great, but I have Tommy in a class all by himself -- sort of the way I separated Horowitz from Rubinstein and Van Cliburn on the piano. We all have our favorites, I suppose. Technically, I have never heard Tommy duplicated.

This guy must have 39 hours in his day.
he doesn't use a thumb pick giving him more control over the solo picking but keeps the finger picking going with two fingers, this allows him to go faster an do things like sweep picking .. his technique is amazing
