To be fair with Godzilla in KotM, he was about to finish King Ghidorah off during their second fight in the ocean, even ripping off one of the heads, but the US military interrupted their battle with the oxygen destroyer which heavily weakened Godzilla. If anything, it was the reverse of an assist lmao
I love how the "hints" towards next week are still called hints even though they've evolved into full on reveals to the point that they are just talking about it openly in the video.
The charging of the axe with Godzilla's azure atomic breath, so he and Kong could reap final victory, was a major feature of the storyline, even in early script drafts. Most of the revisions revolved around finding a satisfactory way to set up this final set piece. For this reason the working title of the film was 'Blue Harvest.'
The fact that Ben was able to conduct a top-tier breakdown analysis between the dichotomy of Kong versus Godzilla and Batman v Superman in such a well-informed and concise Manor was amazing. It was Godzilla vs 2 Mutos, then Godzilla was injured by the US military. In this one, he just bore a whole to the center of the Earth, killed Kong, and then immediately has a fight with Mecha Godzilla. He never has a clean fresh fight. I love how different all the MonsterVerse movies feel from one another despite clearly being in the same world. Godzilla 2014 takes itself super seriously and withholds the monsters; Kong Skull Island is a stylish and batsh*t 70s B-movie with a budget; Godzilla KOTM has a somber and pensive tone but is all monsters all the time; GvK is a big colorful comic book punch ‘em up.
Did you know this movie is actually attributed to being the start of the modern day VFX crisis of overworked and underpaid VFX artists? Empire magazine reported that just a few months from release, the studio heads at Legendary kept pushing for better CGI effects specifically in regards to Godzilla's glowing spines during atomic breath scenes. It required a lot of reworking of completed scenes, and it got so bad the VFX artists ended up having to literally go and find Legendary's archived effects bank from the previous films and trawl through them to collect and reuse blue lighting effects, as rendering it all from scratch would have been impossible so late in production. The Junior VFX artists were given the gruelling task, and they jokingly refer to the 12 hour night-shifts they spent in the darkened archive rooms harvesting the pre-made CGI as the "Blue Harvest".

His channel is Ben from Canada. And he has a much more prolific brother whose channel is CJ the X. Both are great.
@@colonelweird Boom, subscribed. And he's actually doing positive commentary? That's incredibly rare to see these days, as much as we all clearly love taking a fat dump on trash movies and stuff (which is easier to do in a lot of ways, there's so much trash to talk about that you'd have to arrange all of the trash in to some sort of long moving line that would slowly travel past you at a constant pace as you take said fat dumps on said passing trash, almost like some sort of... caravan of garbage or something... EHRMEHGERD I think I earned an airhorn for that one WAH WAH WAH WAAAAAAAAAH) but actually making positive commentary can sometimes be much more difficult. I obviously always knew he was a very talented and funny editor, so it's very cool to see what he comes up with on his own, thanks brosghetti & meatbros.
To be fair, Kong won all his fights with help too in his own movie
Ben is the man hahaha
DIrector and Kong have same beard. Neat.
Ben is a genius, i actuality had the same thought when i watched this movie for the first time
I love how different all the MonsterVerse movies feel from one another despite clearly being in the same world.
This one actually got me.
I love when the editors get to express the (consistently incredible) opinions.
