    Sarah, sorry to be out of touch through comments. Just know I am grateful for all the effort you put into your projects and videos! I have learned so much from you, that even my family can see the difference in my beginner pieces and what I am doing today. That, by the way, is strictly thanks to you!!! I have tried to work along with other UA-cam clay artists but you are by far the easiest and most enjoyable teacher I have found. I absolutely adore gold leafing in many of my different art projects and was thrilled to see that the process I tried months ago, is nearly identical to what you revealed in this video. Sorry so long winded but I really just wanted you to know how much I enjoy and appreciate your videos, as well as the relaxed/patient way you deliver your instructions and your virtual support of those of us still fumbling and bumbling while we learn. Wishing you and your's a joyous and blessed holiday season!!! 💕🍗🎅🥳💕

    Hi I love your ideas. I asked before but didin't receive a reply: can you use ordinary laser printer fplease

    • @RedRockingBird
      @RedRockingBird  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Anna. Thanks, laser printer shouldn't release the ink like inkjet does, due to the way the ink bonds to the paper. Sorry I try and reply to everyone but some slip through now and again and I often don't see messages that are replies, unless I search through the videos, so please don't think me rude if I don't reply to replies either. Thank you, enjoy your projects, Sarah ❤️

    P.S. To those new to using gold leaf sheets if you check out Amazon or even Wish, this product comes in a veritable rainbow of colors!! Believe me!! I enjoy and use these leafing sheets in a LOT of my art projects. Just remember to shut any fans off in your work space BEFORE doing ANY type of leafing application. "Flakes" , to me are the hardest to use. Just a simple breath from your nose or mouth will have them flying absolutely EVERYWHERE!!! LOL!! Have fun with this and be patient with the product AND yourself. You will love the varied results!!!! Happiest of holidays to you all!!!!

    Hi Sarah thank you so much for your videos, I simply love your style, I wondered if you have ever used the gold leaf mixed into wet air dry clay. I want to make some large clay beads I,m aiming for an aged look so I don’t want them completely gold just bits here and there do you think it will work ok, also do you use real gold leaf or would the imitation gold leaf work. Thank you so much for your amazing tutorials I enjoy them so much.

    • @RedRockingBird
      @RedRockingBird  7 місяців тому

      Hi, thank you. Air dry clay does tend to swallow up what we mix in, including gold leaf making it not very visible without putting loads in, so it works better on the outside, take a look at the experimental video with adding the gold leaf, you can see it does rather get swallowed up: ua-cam.com/video/8dkl-xMRe5I/v-deo.html
      Thanks, Sarah

    • @GrumpetteJV
      @GrumpetteJV 2 роки тому +2

      Like she said, a varnish of your choice...
      But personally I would go with glossy one, or satin, to make the gold leaf really pop.
      But if you want a more distressed, vintagy look, a matt varnish will dull down the shiny.

    • @magee113
      @magee113 2 роки тому +1

      Stacey A - I completely agree with GrumpetteJV with only one addition. Many varnishes out there have a tendency to "yellow" with time. Be sure to read the container, looking for the description; "non-yellowing". Just know, that even with that statement, depending on what type of project you varnish, it may yellow anyway... Always do a small test before committing to using the varnish you choose on ALL of your pieces. Have fun and have a wonderful holiday season!!

    • @RedRockingBird
      @RedRockingBird  2 роки тому +1

      I have many other videos where I talk about top coats and I will make another next year, but really any craft varnish/lacquer/top coat works great, a lot down to personal preference on the finish. The yellowing is a good point thank you Magee, some people hate this, especially on white, but not so noticeable on coloured pieces. Thanks

    Oh wow another new project for me to try, I found your videos last week and have already tried several things, my clay keeps sticking to my surface, is that a tile you have beneath yours? I don’t want to waste the gold leaf I ordered 😂😂 @redrockingbird

    • @RedRockingBird
      @RedRockingBird  2 роки тому

      Thank you. I like to use a smooth tile yes, when rolling out make sure you roll, pick up and turn, roll and turn, so you don't push and stick the clay into the surface, this works for me. Flat piece I don't mind if they stick when wet as they slide straight off when bone dry. Hope that helps ❤️
