- Definitely a bucket list experience in Brazil! The train from Curitiba to Morretes is an absolutely stunning journey through the Atlantic forest biome and can be done in style with glass train carriages and meal service. This is the most popular day trip out of Curitiba and now I can see why. Morretes is a very charming colonial city where you feel like you are stepping back in time. Make sure you also try a local culinary specialty called Barreado. Definitely a once in a lifetime experience!

I love seeing my country from your poetic eyes, Alina! We allways discover new perspectives. The Serra Verde Express train between Curitiba and Morretes is really a bucket list item, with many different fancy wagons, including one pet friendly and another for motorcicles. My mom made the Trans Siberian train, from Ulan Bator to Moscou (I think), passing by that beautifull lake Baikal. Trains are allways nice and fun experiences.

There's a similar one which I took in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It's called Nilgiri Mountain Railway, which is a UNESCO world heritage site. It goes through the beautiful Nilgiri Mountains, which is famous for its eucalyptus oil and tea. Highly recommend👍🏼

O nordeste brasileiro é riquíssimo em cultura, belas praias, culinária, etc, o norte do Brasil igualmente e o Centro Oeste tem muito eco turismo com o Pantanal, a cidade de Bonito, etc. Ou seja, todo o Brasil tem um potencial turístico gigantesco e único no mundo. Basta os brasileiros prestarem atenção na hora de votar em políticos (tanto a nível municipal, estadual e federal e não só pra presidente) que queiram que o Brasil se desenvolva e diminua o tamanho do Estado reduzindo burocracias, impostos e gerar cada vez mais Liberdade Econômica que é o que faz os países serem desenvolvidos com mais emprego e renda. 🇧🇷

Alina, você é sensacional, simpática, muito bonita e combina com a paisagem da janela desse trem. Eu morei 10anos em Curitiba e quando fiz a minha faculdade de Engenharia Mecânica na Universidade Federal do Paraná, em 1977, fiz várias viagens nesse trem, inclusive desembarcava na estação Morumbi e fazia uma escalada de montanha até o Pico do Marumbi. Lá de cima dessa montanha, pode ver o mar e a baía de Paranaguá. Se puder e tiver disposição, faça essa caminhada .É super legal.

I once took a train from north Florida to Eugene, Oregon. We went through Chicago changed trains then to Seattle and then south to Eugene. Beautiful scenery and met nice people along the way. Had my own sleepette. Would love to take your train ride in Brazil.
You've landed in a great part of the world, very much enjoying following along on the map, all the names are new to me. Favourite railway journeys: difficult to pick absolute favourites, but the small mountain line connecting Nice (France) and Cuneo (Italy) is spectacular and gives access to some great hiking. One I'd really like to do: Kiruna (Sweden) to Narvik (Norway) (similar theme!).
Martin, the Serra do Mar Train, stop at serra do Marumbi. It is a state park in the Atlantic Forest, and you can disembark there for hiking, camping or mountaineering. There are so many things to do and explore in this region of Brazil.

I’ve done one train ride with my ex around twenty years ago when we took Via Rail from Toronto to Montreal. It was an unforgettable 4 hour rude to the city of my birth. The Montreal train station is what I expected. Since we weren’t staying in the city we had to take the metro to Laval where we stayed when we were there.

I'm Brazilian and I've never taken another train ride other than this one. But I can say, it is wonderful, not only for the landscape, but also for the entire history of the construction and economic importance of this railway. I also suggest researching the history of Barão do Serro Azul, which has a part that involves the railway.

I remember taking this train ride when I was younger, the weather was very good and in the middle of the way we found some monkeys in the trees and the train stopped for us to take some pictures, we were very lucky because it is rare for them to stay close to the train track, very cool
