@kevin122759 the mile high DA is killing the engine power significantly. Up to 15% for NA engines at that attitude. Forced induction is less affected by it which is around 5% less HP. Ik it's 3 years too late but hopes it helps lmao.
Thanks for the video, very informative about the drag pack. I just received my weld 15’s and I’m definitely doing the spare wheels for front runners. Keep up the vids
@@Mr-th5hw weld s71 15x10 7.25 backspace, your also gonna have to grind a little off your brake line fittin so it doesn’t rub, will not work if you have larger aftermarket brakes.
Seems like you bogged on the first slick run is it better to launch higher and let the car spin a little if any also what rpm are you launching at what psi thanks
I’m 19 and got my 17 SS and. Wondering what’s the best drag set up for me I will only use them for racing at the drag or street racing only so factor that in also
Was trying to break into 11s with my stock 18' SS. Got 12.13... with all season 275 width tires. Thinking hopefully m/t Street s/s can get me there with the better 60'.
@@adamwatts8343 I plopped some big sticky mickeys on, but ran about the same time... 12.10 ish, the bigger wider wheels and tires added unsprung weight, so they kinda counteracted eachother. Going to put smaller mickeys on the stock wheels and take it back out next year.
It hooked like a mf. But the times were about the same unfortunately. Says that the stock SS is finely tuned. To get better times you need a drag pack with skinnies or mods :/
My C5 mags 17x8.5 and 18x 9.5 with Nitto nt01 245/40/17 and 275/40/18 weighs 38.5 lbs and 45.7 lbs. I ran a 1.97 60ft with a stock LS1. Trapped 108.xx.
You got great traction with the slicks that you bog off the line. Slip the clutch a little bit to keep the rpms up and you would be able to get 1.6-1.5 on your 60ft. But great comparison.
Yup... try leaving some rubber through the staging box, then back up directly onto your burnout. You also need dual adjustable shocks and way more rebound and stiffen up the compression in the back. You want the front to lift enough to transfer the weight over the rear tires. If the rear suspension drops, you’re losing traction.
You need to compare a drag radial on a 15" rim like that not a low profile Tire versus a tire with a sidewall. Tires with very little side wall have a harder time to hook up than tires with a bigger side wall. I have proved this to my self with my 17 Corvette
You're absolutely correct. Im trying to get my hands on some 15" radials. It would make for a closer matched competition, altho I gotta say I still think the slicks would win in my book
The only benefit of a slick is there 100 bucks cheaper now. With the suspension changed correctly. It looks like your dumping into a high first at too high of a RPM. You need way lower gears. My 4l60e with 4.10's runs a 1.5 sixty foot to 10 second passes @ only 98MPH on a 16" Hosier DR2 28" tall tire. Dead hooks from a stand still at the track.
Looks like the car have so much traction with those slicks that bogs a bit on starting line... Maybe more powa or more rpm? How much hp this car have? Very good video, very informative! You also runs the Pirelli P-Zero just to have the full comparision?
The car needs more power for sure. It makes like 440 NA and almost 600 on Nitrous. Leaving around 4400 RPM if I remember correctly. I wish I had some 15" radials to do a more accurate video.
60 foot is a little soft I would expect 1.5 seconds with trap speed like that. Definitely need a good set of rear shocks. Car has definitely got 10-second potential
What does the car run with no spray?
Did you have to roll fenders?
This is by far the best radial vs bias ply video I’ve watched, nice job!
What's your engine combo?...Nice GTO
Cam only LS2, Stock bottom end and head. Full Bolt on (intake manifold, exhaust, CAI etc.) and Nitrous (150 shot)
@@hook937 I was wondering how you were getting those times. I upgraded the top end, cam, headers, but no nos. I run high 12s at a mile high.

I know this old but what tire sizes was the radial and slick?
What drag setup was this?
I'm so glad I found this channel, nice driving and shifting too! Did you have to roll the rear quarters to fit the big slick?

The spare rims as front runners is a little hidden GTO gem
Did you do any mods to fit the 15 inch ?
@@Mr-th5hw I had to use the Gforce vz rear coil over kit and rolled my fenders. The factory rear shock will rub the tire.
How wide is the wheel ?

You want the car to squat like that on a slick
I thought you shouldn't run 15x10 for a 275? Shouldn't you run either a 15x8 or 15x9?
What’s done to the rest of the suspension
So far its just Viking shocks. I have more on the way but in this video its almost all stock
Hook937 nice still stock driveshaft ?
Dom 675r drive line is almost all upgraded except the gears and axle stubs. I’ll be doing a video on drive line as well
Hook937 nice I’ll subscribe
Whats your 1/4 with this set up
Nice 👍
Question do go full throttle on the take off or you gradually hit the throttle
Not too familiar with drag receipts😂, what’s your 0-60 with the M/T Slicks?
Whats ur best 1/4 mile time with the spray..
pat ptak so far 11.5 but I haven’t raced it this year due to work. Hoping to be back in country soon and maybe a track day in December
Thanks for the video, what RPM are you leaving on? ...and what psi were you running in the radial. Thanks.
Leaving between 4,200 and 4,400 RPM and 15 PSI in the tires
Hook937 thanks man.
Without watching video again did you get your lowest 60' time on the radial?
Edwin Feldman lowest 60’ was on the slick
Seems like you bogged on the first slick run is it better to launch higher and let the car spin a little if any also what rpm are you launching at what psi thanks
Launching at like 4200ish now. Just needs more power to get out of its own way lol. I’ll give it some nitrous off the hit next time
@@hook937 awesome also what size are your slicks and are they the stiff sidewall Mickeys
@@utahcountypicazospage5412 26x10x15S
Yeah stiffer wall recommended by M/T due to the car being heavy and stick shift

Wouldve bee nice to see it run on GTO Spares upfront and the stock gto wheels on Radials in the Rear i have a feeling it would’ve trapped a bit Higher
Just a tad faster than a Corolla or a Neon I'd say. Nice ride man! Looks and sounds mean! Mid 11s are no joke.

Need to be doing a longer burnout and leaving with a lot more rpm on slick . 6000 rpm at least for a good 60ft

I just bought 295/55/15 10x15 Mickey Thompson tires for my gto. Do you think they will fit with a stock suspension?
Ethan 295’s will be tight. Depending on your wheels offset and backspacing it can be done on stock suspension if you do a little cutting or rolling
Hey Ethan did you get them to fit?
Should have done the street tire comparison aswell
The GTO Spare Rims are not Rated for 100 MPH and could break under stress. I use drag radials bec I No Prep Race
