Come on people. Sure Scott's amazing but let's just appreciate how amazing Kirstie was in this performance. She was really sick and not only killed it, had some pretty amazing high notes to.
gadgetgeek96 this is my favorite performance on the show. Kirstie was loud and a little sick on some parts but it was better than the others in my opinion. They've come so far, and the songs they've released are 10 times better than back when they were on the show xD
Towards the beginning, they said: "With rock...we don't have enough voices for that." Oh you silly. You're Pentatonix. Y'all have a freakin' choir in your voices.
Around 3:18 Kirstie's voice started to strain lol Can you believe she was sick? She still sounds awesome. Some People are always saying Kirstie doesn't belong and all this stuff, when you realize it she does the higher harmonies. The songs Pentatonix does won't be the same without her. An example is this song (Born to be Wild), video killed the radio star, Love Lockdown and all the other ones.
***** If you listen to them as a trio in high school you can hear the Pentatonix sound. I believe it's due to where her voice blends with the Scott and Mitch. The Pentatonix sound is unique and it's due to her.
Avi was boss. Kristie did a fabulous job. I love how Scott made his voice sound like it came from that time period. As always Kevin was a freak of nature. And Mitch always does wonderfully
they know that rock isn't their best genre. At the beginning of this video they acknowledged the fact that it takes more than 5 people to make it sound totally like rock. This is called working with what you got. And I must say they did one hell of a job.
The ad that I got for this vid was like 2 minutes long. I got ready to skip it but then I saw it was a Pentatonix ad... I ended up watching all of it. XD I have no regrets.
now this is a song i'd love to seem them do a remake of today with all they've learned. this is a song i grew up hearing in the movies all the time any time there were road trips.
I want to hear Scott sing more rock in general. I get that it's hard to do in the group, but his voice works so well with some rock (I've heard him sing I don't wanna miss a thing, soooo good). I think they could do something really cool with Kevins cello kind of like radioactive. And now with Kirstins confidence etc!
IKR It was like a sonic boom and you could see the look on Shawn Stockman's face he was shocked and very impressed... I have always been in awe of their amazing talent keep bringing the music.
Let me just say that I love Kirstie more than ever now. I *adore* her more than ever now. The fact that she got up there and sung her ass off- and then some- after a week of throwing up and being sick, is amazing. I mean, she made it look like she was in full health; she made it sound like she was in full health. It takes real talent to pull that off and make it amazing.
And then she went on to have the lead in hte coutnry song (which admittedly was weaker of the two, but if she had been at full health I think would have done better).
Magnitude101 No it was Sara for PTX's season. I didn't watch the show I just know from the clips of the performances that I've seen. Also the judge's comments are at the end of the video.
Where you really saw how much they had gone from a trio with a bassist and percussionist to an amazing group! The other previous songs were amazing, but the 8th and 9th performances really showed how settled they now are as a group. And now it’s 10 years, admittedly without Avi, but Matt stepped in and meshed phenomenally. Amazing.
I have been a pentaholic for almost two years and no matter how many times i watch them or how used to thier sound i get, they never cease to amaze me. These five just......they blow my mind. Bravo pentatonix bravo
Every time I watch this I pick out new details that astound me. They had to compose and choreograph two performances, yet on top of making 5 voices sound like a 10 instrument rock band, they move all over the stage in perfect syncronization seemlessly... and at the time of this performance they had only been working together for a couple of months at most. Why can't we all have talent like that? Amazing!
wish pentatonix did more genres of music. the sing-off was a great place to showcase what they can do. their current stuff is mostly pop and i think they can flourish in more genres
The beginning was nice, but after that break in the middle, the really turned it into rock. Simply. Fantastic. This group is amazing and incredible and i just can't get enough.
Geez! Can't stop rewatching this performance! Heck, they were the youngest and smallest group in the competition, and one of them was sick, and they had to take in ROCK. And they NAILED IT.
Poor Kirstie looks so exhausted at the end of this :( during the performance you couldn't guess she was sick though. I hope she got to sleep after the show.
This was pretty awesome - considering that the song is totally out of their comfort zone, and on top of it Kirstie was sick, to pull off such a great rock performance is impressive.
Two years later and this still impresses the living snot out of me -- from someone who bought the album on vinyl when it first came out in the 60s. It's hard to remember that you'd have to tack a couple of you together to end up with as many years as this song is old -- and you updated it *just* enough to give it a really great sound. :)
Don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure that Avi can control his breathing so well he can inhale and exhale at the same time. While it's very difficult, it's not impossible, and if he has done that in this instance then clap claps to him for having the courage to when it could have gone horribly wrong

I actually think they're really good at picking who sings what and spreading it around a bit. Most of the time Scott is the lead, and he does the most versatile voice to carry the lead in a lot of the songs, but when someone else naturally fits better, they switch it up (although sometimes they're limited in that regard by needing Avi as the bass, because he's so amazing at it). Plus, Mitch has improved so much since the show, it's amazing. I don't know if it was a confidence thing or what, but seeing him do the Superfruit Beyoncé medley (where he's the lead for most of it) now, it's a whole other level. i love how much recognition avi and kevin get bc we're always like scott is amazing and he is but avi and kevin are really mind blowing
Unpopular opinion...but I'm not that enamoured with Scott's voice. He's a great singer technically, but the tone is not that special.
that gunshot was the most amazing touch in this performance. so sick. holy shit
And the motorcycle revving at the beginning.
Towards the beginning, they said: "With rock...we don't have enough voices for that."

it was a conspiracy kirstie is a divine goddess she can't get sick. they're lying to you nothing is real its manipulation
The most entertaining part of this song is Kevin. He's having the time of his LIFE!

I'm pretty sure he's a dragon disguised as a human. Lol

Kirstie really pulled through, I'm glad her voice held out for this song

Kevin is so humble. :)
