  • In this video we go in depth with the suspension set up on our 70 series landcruiser.
We explain how to do it and why it works so well. the best part about this upgrade is how cheap the modification is. Building a off road animal on a budget.

Spring pack on top of the axle, same as Hi-lux. What Toyota should have done. But then, dudes keep buying the crap that comes out of factory without question, simply because it's a ýota. Wheel drop or droop is over-rated - when a wheel is at max droop or near to it, it does not have any ground pressure to grip the ground anyway. Might look impressive, but does little to propel the car because it just cannot bite the ground without down pressure which is a function of vehicle mass/gravity. But where your modification works is the raised spring plate height which removes the factory in-built ground anchor. Something I did to my 1985 MK Patrol 40 odd years ago!

Can you tell me who the guy in Victoria is that you mentioned is doing some sort of kit? I am getting my mechanic to do this to my 79 Cruiser. I have seen comments that say that it is a hand full on the highway with pitch and roll etc - is this true? Will a detachable sway bar in the rear fix this? How does it go with a 150kg ball weight (towing) and say 100kg in the tray added to it? Would it be possible to fit small airbags?

If you put a sway bar in the rear it should work the same, 80 series sway bars work perfect on and offroad and don’t need to be detached.
