Learned to play a bit of guitar from Doc guitar lessons. Used to stay up half the night listening to WWVA in Wheeling. Went to his show in Metcalfe Ont back in the 60's Sure miss the old country music. Bruce K.
A short moment in time with him! He was a nice guy, very positive person to be around. I was lucky to get to meet his 3 daughters also, they where there at the house with him.
Pretty sure this was one of Docs favorite songs. One day a few years back I was setting in his living room, him in his 90s, my Dad 83 and me in my 40s all played a song on the guitar. Doc played this one after I asked him to play one of his favorites. My Dad used to pal around with the country greats, back in the days WWVA was great, in and around the Welling W.VA. area, back in their "hay day". I was lucky to get to meet Doc! Though I really never knew Doc, it was neat to get to spend a moment.
I had an opportunity to talk to Doc before he passed. He is brought joy to my family members. So many good memories.
Yes my father sang this song while driving the country roads way back in those great times ..
