Textured Painting: Easy, No Blend Painting; NMM, Leather & More

- Опубліковано 1 лис 2024
- This week's video is all about the textured painting technique, a great beginner painting technique called textured painting, allows you to paint anything with highlights, shadows, color gradations, and more without blending. In this video, I'll be using this technique to paint NMM (non-metallic metal) and leather. This video is sponsored by Crippled God Foundry and their newest Kickstarter, Shattered Hell, which went live October 29.

What technique do you want to practice on your next miniature?
Thanks so much for these thorough videos. I've been working on airbrush technique and would love to see more airbrush videos!
I'm planning an airbrush video now!
How about some speed painting techniques? I’d love to get a table top mini done in 1 hr. I have so many baddies to paint. Great videos!
Loaded brush has always been a very difficult technique for me without somehow getting both colors mashed together horribly
Sheer fabric effects done with a conventional brush, if you haven't done that already. This video was my introduction to your channel, and oh my gods! A painting tutorial where they instructor doesn't just assume knowledge of the audience!
The moment I saw your paint job at the start I instantly subscribed. Mega talent!
Wow! Thank you so much for your kindness, it is very much appreciated!
Kinda wish Jazza did a video painting some space marines or something 🙁
I don't think i will ever be at the NMM level of painting but I love watching videos like this to try to improve my painting skills
I'm 56 years old and got started painting between work. It relieves my stress. Your tips are helping but I'm still having trouble with nmm. I know I'm an amateur but at least I'm trying. Thank you for the tips and I have subscribed.
Dramatically undervalued youtuber stock here. Good flow of presentation, good elocution, solid didactics, fresh perspective on established techniques, some truly new stuff (minis in the style of Klimt & Van Gogh?! High grade content. Now do Mucha?), looks (not being creepy or personal, the reality is that it matters for content creators in any visual medium, whether it should or not). Audio mixing *still* needs work although is no longer brutal. I'm investing now at 7k subs and planning on selling at 50k. Retirement here I come
Audio is still my worst. I’m getting better and better slowly!
Great video Lyla! Your pace and demonstration is so great for people!
Thank you, you are very kind!
this technique came out so well on that mini. i definitely want to try it out on my next project
Awesome video. Simple and complete
Im learning so much from you right now. Iv never seen painting like this before.
Wonderful!
Love how that sword turned out!
LOL. I was trying to make a gradient on a figure, failed miserably, but then watched the brush strokes and thought "oh, it looks cool, maybe I'll keep with it?". And it seems it is a thing XD (not an excuse for me for not knowing how to paint, but happy to see I didn't screw up so much)
It's just terrific to see this fresh air around the set meta around "how a mini has to be painted"! Love the style and it seems so underrepresented/underappreciated, thanks therefore!
Some ideas for your next videos: I'd would like to see more painting screen time. You switched a lot into a vlog-like view while explaining things that could have been visually represented, maybe demonstrating the concept on a sheet of paper? I found it to be hardly visible what you did on the boots.
Many thanks, hooked for the next videos!
This is cool- I paint latex masks, but I think I will try this technique on one of my wintery masks I have coming up!
Been finding smaller painting channels given most of the bigger 'painting' channels seem to spend 50% of the time talking about 3d printing. This is a great video, and your camera work is solid. The narration is well written. Subscribed
Wow! Thank for you doing painting videos! I saw the thumbnail for this video and subscribed immediately.
This was both educational and inspiring; wet blending never worked right for me, but I think you just gave me the solution! You've got yourself a new subscriber, and hopefully, your videos will help inspire me to finally get some of my endless pile of unpainted minis, well, painted.
Great to have discovered your channel. Time to start evolving my technique further!
Great video lyla. It has helped me a lot, thank you
Literally, Witch move ! Just kiddin ,love your work !
I know this is an old video, but I just recently found this channel and had to commend this incredible paint job. Well done!
OUTSTANDING!
Thank you Lyla for this amazing video!
I’m new to painting minis and blending/color gradations are a huge mystery to me. This was a very helpful demonstration! Thank you!
I’m thrilled I can help!
Very nice results. I was a bit skeptical as the sword unfolded but the end result is great.
Things always look worse before they get better. This applies to painting more than anything else. :)
need to watch later when I get time
Newb painter lurvs this technique! Great channel, abusive cat 😄
Awesome tricks i didn't even know about, thank you!
Boy howdy do I love catching a top tier channel before it blows up. Fantastic stuff! :D
Thank you!
@@LylaMev Thank you for making videos, sharing your knowledge and growing the hobby :)
Great video Lyla!!
Awesome video! Your NMM always looks amazing!
Thanks! I’m hopeful this will make nmm easier for other people, too! I’ve always thought blending was one is the hardest things, so why not paint in a way the doesn’t require blending?
Great video Lyla! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you!
Stumbled upon this channel, 10/10 instantly subbed.
awesome work
great technique!
How would you approach an axe/halberd using this method? I love the visual, but my next project has an axe
Well done! Just subscribed.
Gooooooood gooooooood
6.66K subscribers is very fitting for today being Halloween. lol
Awwww! I missed it!
Love your work, but the way you hold your brush makes my hand ACHE just watching you paint! How do you do that? My hand would cramp up soooo bad if I tried to hold a brush like that!
I think this comes natural to Lyla. Just do it if it feels good.
Love the content!
i paintedthe boots in my last army in emulsion
Very nice video but in my perspective it is far from easy. All the things that you do in your head , choosing of colors , how to mix them, how many steps you will take are very important enough to get a good result. And next is how good you are with your tools. These are not Tipps for beginner / more for painter who wants to become a pro or next level.
Can you just come hang out with me when I'm painting and look over my shoulder and guide me? I'll make you dinner 😀😂
I do offer private lessons via zoom!
No offense, but you really have the weirdest way to hold a brush I've ever seen :D Interesting technique you presented, though!
People keep telling me that!!!
@@LylaMev seems similar to how vince venturella holds a brush, so in good company there!
Wow. A mini painter who is an *actual* woman being recommended to me? Cool.
Kinda random this, but I love your teeth. Are you sure you're a witch and not lowkey a vampire?
Jesus Christ, man.
Love your work, and your cute . Always wanted to date a fellow modeller, how’s about it lovely?😉😘🥰👍
That is very kind, but I have the one for me.
@@LylaMev Ohw , I’m unsubscribe now! Just kidding, seriously do love your work and you put the technique in simple terms. Thanks , and I’m happy for ya , just fix me up with one of your female fellow modelling friends 😉 🇬🇧👍😆👌😘
