@riotpupper7405 they actually are not. I wasn't aware of this when I bought my pair, who have since passed with age. People still sell them, but I have no desire to risk a fine a hefty fine with buying anymore.
I have one and he likes to hide when not eating, so I'd suggest to have tree bark and things it can hide under. And maybe a bigger enclosure than that if possible, they like to roam at night sometimes
They can fly, but don't do so often, and take a few seconds to actually prepare and get in the air. While that behaviour makes them very unlikely to escape, a simple way to make it 100% safe is to open the package indoors so even if they do fly, they can't fly away.
Hay, need suggestions, i had this pair rainbow stag i been hving them for 2 week but i see them not eating a banana or jelly at all and im worry, any tips? Thanks
As far as I know we are the only facility selling captive bred Rainbow Stag Beetles. They have a very long life-cycle as grubs (12-18 months), and each season only mature as beetles over the summer period. We only had a limited number last season and they sold out in 2 minutes in our Bushop. We are hoping to have more available next season, but if you want to be notified when we have them you can join the waiting list here eepurl.com/gR3_nD
@@minibeastwildlife rainbow stag! just got a grub and ibe mostly have been doing everything ive been told, collecting decaying wood, decaying leaves, a good substrate. i just need to know if theres anything special 😅
@@quinnbrooke5215 oh my gosh, where have you been collecting the decaying wood? my baby stag is arriving in a couple of days and buying the wood online takes ages to ship to uk!
There's no hard and fast rule as it depends on many factors including the size of the enclosure, and how thoroughly you clean it after feeding. Left over food is the major concern as this will spoil the substrate and attract other organisms such as mites. If the substrate changes appearance and starts to smell it definitely needs changing, but monthly would be reasonably safe for a small terrarium like the one in the video.
hi , i found a beetle struggling to walk, so i took it in as my family, i have been giving it watermelon and strawberries and water, i noticed it gets bones dry lookibg after a while so i also sprinkle water on it as needed, am i doing anything wrong? its progress walking has improved, i saved it from a spider!
Appreciate the video. Not a lot out there and they are hard to come by in the US. Finally got a pair though.
Are they legal to own in the US?

you should add deeper substrate
might be a stupid question but what if the beetle tried to fly away when you get them out?

minibeastwildlife yeah lol, they're not the best fliers since they're so big so they only fly if they feel that they need to
Excuse me, I am a Hong Konger who is going to immigrate to the UK. Is there a beetle shop in the UK?Thank you!

The tank you have used in this vid is a bit to small
I suggest 2xas large.
Simple question, where do I get that substrate for a fair price?
Bunnings.
Can you help us with raising the grub?
Is it a Rainbow Stag larva or another species?

Hi there, what is that u use for bedding? Is it soil?
It is coco-peat, also known as coir peat.
good vid i subbed
Where can I find rainbow stag beetle larva?
North Queensland rainforest - in very large fallen trees. They are extremely difficult to find. Ours are all captive bed.
What about drinking dobthey just get that out of the banana. Also how often do u need to clean them out
Keeping the substrate moist and feeding them moist fruit such as banana provides them with all the moisture they need.
That’s super easy
good 👍
Every when should I replace my coco peat?

Rex Ragno Don't feed it watermelons, try putting it in a semi dry or wet environment, apples or mangoes would make a great food source
6-8cm is ideal for them to dig around and hide and stuff
Where to buy
Minibeast wildlife.com. Go to bettles section 👌🏻
