- This is a video on the procedure necessary to program the keyless entry Fobs on a 1999 Toyota 4Runner Limited. Should work for other years as well.
I got my new transmitters super cheap from this eBay seller:
stores.ebay.com...
1 open driver door
2 put key in ignition pull out
3 press lock unlock button 5 times each
4 close then open driver door
5 repeat 5 lock unlock buttons
6 put key in ignition then On to Off 2 times
7 remove key
8 press lock unlock on remote for 1 sec and then press lock on remote for 2 sec.
9 should be programed now
So... one lesson I've learned from a friend that should be corrected on these videos is that you do not need to use the electronic door lock switch to cycle the locks into learn mode. Many of these 20+ year old actuators get hung up and then it doesn't work. Instead, it's much more efficient to use the manual lock by pushing it down and then pulling it back up. Had any of these videos noted that, I would've been able to have working keyless entry remotes for my Toyota years ago.
Do you only have to do it on the drivers door?
I can get it to work maybe one in 10 times if i pull the lock with my hand AND press the electronic button...still can't get the key to program though
do it from the outside with the key
We love you yota guy🫶
So I’m trying to program 3 fobs and every time I do it, only one will work, its like it disables the other ones??? Also my rear window button is not working??
if ever try manually doing the sequence from outside with the key through the door... worked with me
It works perfectly ignore these other two comments. You start with the door open for EVERYTHING and in between the lock cycles you close it and open it. Not rocket science.
Can you do this on an SR5 model of the same year?
Yes. Exactly the same.
Also, what about rear window button? With this process, will it be programmed as well, automatically?
Yes.if it is the correct remote fob for your vehicle, it all will work. The part number and FCC number on fob are very important.
Thank you!
worked
Did it previously have a fob and your replacing? Or it works even when you car never did have a fob?
Previosly had fob that was broken. Replaced with new fobs. If vehicle has ability to have remote fobs, then this will work. You do not need have an original one.
Just a minute here.. I just saw this same video on someone else channel...
I would love a link to that as I made the video.

@@gregmonchak8423 - did they steal it?
@@gregmonchak8423 - and thanks, your video was very helpful, got my new remotes programmed...
Where did you get new fob? Toyota dealer? Factory?
eBay
Working for me, but the rear mirror is not Working
Door unlock works doorlockdoesnotdoesnotwork?
Not working for me
He says to start with door open, insert key, remove key, then do the power cycle 5 times but in the video the door is closed when he does the cycle.
Watch carefully around 23 seconds just before he starts the cycle.... he closes the door. you can hear it close.
Then; at 36 sec he says to close and open door which you cannot do now. (because the door is still closed but it's open in the video and he shuts the door. (wtf right??) )
So this procedure is messed up. I can def see him close the door at 23 /24 seconds before starting the 5 lock/unlock cycle. !!
But I've tried it both ways; twice and I can't get it to work.
?
Why can you say it with words 🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻
