This was a good episode. I liked how they weren't mean to each other, but still critical. I loved Chef Armani coming in. The Plus One was great, too. They were all great.
The presence of an unbiased party is completely and utterly appreciated for these kinds of competitions.
I agree with you. They gave constructive criticism and were honest if it was good. Cause I've watched other episodes and the contestants just hate, overly critical and give unnecessarily low score to boost their own. This group had manners and integrity. Bringing an unbiased judge has really improved these segments.
@@kris517 Yes. I also liked that they didn't underscore each other to win, and they all clearly had good dishes so they could have done that. The unbiased judge is great.

Knew that Jake would win when I saw it fall off the bone😆 they all looked amazing, but any barbecue that's smoked will always be superior. Jake put his foot in it & deserved the victory. Everyone was nice & respectful. & the points they gave were in sync with the Chef's points at the end. Very nice episode.
He knew what he was doing Chile. When I saw his denim jacket and then finding out he learnt it from father-in-law, I done knew😔✋🏽

Brooke put 1/2 c of packed brown sugar, Sweet Baby Rays, AND honey in her sauce? Too sweet. But she seems like a sweetheart irl so it makes sense.

Now Jake's ribs really appealed to me the most. I love a dry rub and a great smoke. I'm super picky about my sauce and don't like having it done for me. I like to put as much or as little sauce on my ribs as I want.
@Harper YES!! Like I should opt in to sauce but the seasoning and texture are so much more important
Jake makes his ribs just like mine. I don’t like a wet rib. Give me the option to have sauce on the side. I make sure to marinate them overnight with the rub, and then low and slow in the smoker.

I prefer a good dry rub any day. Too much sauce seems like trying to cover up the taste. You can always dip the dry rub in sauce if you want sauce.

I would agree. I have heard many in our community say the sauce makes the ribs Or barbecue, but in my opinion it’s the cooking process, a good rib/barbecue should be able to stand alone w minimal sauce.

Great episode. Probably one of the best to-date. All the guests were cool and respectful. Congrats to Jake for winning, well done. Overall I think takeaway from this episode is Brooke's personality. Showed a lot of love and took the criticism with grace and clearly wanted to learn from it moving forward. Hopefully you guys bring her back as a 4th unbiased judge in a future episode.

Great episode! I used to like oven cooked saucy ribs but once you have grown man smoked well seasoned ribs it's hard to go back!

A good rib doesn't need a BBQ sauce to make up for dry meat, lack of seasoning, or being to chewy. Good ribs have a dry rub which lets the meat be the star. Juicy, seasoned, tender, delicious. No need for BBQ sauce.

I’m not so much a fan of sweet/saucy ribs unless it’s half and half -other half being hot sauce. I need that fire. However them smoked ribs looked beautiful. Just falling apart too! I’d try all of them though. Everyone appeared to do really well on this cook.
I made ribs last Monday night for the Bill-Bengals game 😞 in the oven. Turned out great.
