Has anyone ever noticed how Tyson always rushed to aid an opponent he just knocked out. This fearsome brute was filled with compassion and sympathy.I like to believe that the "real" Mike Tyson was the guy who cared .

One of THOSE moments in boxing. Such an amazing punch, then Tyson tries to help him at the end.

This was a great KO by Tyson when everyone, including the announcers, were pronouncing him finished. He showed he still had it. Gracious of him to check Botha out after the KO too.

I do man! I totally agree. It's a true shame that Tyson isn't remembered for that sportsmanship. Unfortunately, it was more prominent during his early years. But all those fights around the time he had defeated Berbick, he was so humble and at the same time, a devastating hurricane of perfectly timed blows. If only his career hadn't gone astray. He'd be remembered for what he always was.

The enigma that is Mike Tyson: He is commonly known for his unwarranted violence in and out of the ring. But, so many times, after having finished off his opponents (albeit in brutal fashion), he has openly rushed to their aid, in almost frantic fashion, as though he were trying to resuscitate their physical well being, as well as their pride and self-esteem. A curious, yet admirable trait, on the part of Iron Mike.

When tyson was young i reckon he is the best boxer that has ever lived......i feel sad at how he fell from grace and 'went crazy'.....he is insane....don't argue....as much as i love mike.

I saw this live in Vegas when I won Showtime contest while working for the cable company. The crowd was really going strong for Botha and Mike did look sluggish but I knew he would knock him out. You could tell he was just looking for that one perfect punch.

In my view, Tyson was 50% boxer, and 50% brawler. He actually looked like a skillful fighter in his earlier fights.

Ali was just as great a fighter in the 70's as he was in the 60's. And the fact that he won the title(twice) when people doubted him and said he was "past his prime" just goes to show you how much of a genius he was. Look at his competition and then look at tyson's..... The first fighter to not be afraid of Tyson took his title and pretty much his career because after that everyone knew he was "rubber" Mike Tyson.

"Down goes Botha!" "That's all it took!" "It's over, it's over. Mike Tyson has returned!" "That's what happens when you've got a great puncher!" Announcers! Gotta love em!!!

Tyson said that his relation with Cus taught him how to interact with people and gave him a better perspective towards life in general. We didnt start to see the messed up Tyson until Cus was gone. So wether Cus instilled anything useful in Tyson is up for debate but the fact that Tyson was at his best mentally in his days with Cus, I think says a lot.

Tyson was and always will remain the most feared boxer in history 95% of his fights were won before a punch was landed, his problem was people in powerful positions disliked his aura.He is an all time great just a shame how misunderstood he was.King,Givens and any1 else who made fame and fortune out of Tyson deserve the same injustices he had

People think boxing is all arms, shoulders and chest. WRONG. Pay close attention how the legs, hip flexors and a slight turn of the waist generate full leverage to knock whatever's in front of you down. His balance and stance is good, distance and timing with accuracy, PIEYOW!!! Perfect Righthand with leverage. SUUUWEEEET!!!

@jmeove It's beautiful to see such a ferocious animal be so considerate & concerned about having potentially injured someone while doing his job. You can really tell that at some point, Tyson didn't like fighting anymore, but was good at it & it payed the bills. It's wild to see him feel so bad for making a guy eat his fist like that. He really is an animal...he can be royally pissed off one minute and crying like a baby the next...no filter, just...unobstructed emotion & will to survive.

What made the 70's the 'golden age' is the amount of competition. Its a simple fact that number of boxers has declined. Fighters fought more often and had to win more fights before getting a title shot. So the ones who got through were tougher and more experienced.
As for 'crazy', the majority of knowledgable boxing fans would pick Ali to win that fight, and would call you crazy for suggesting that todays division has better fighters than Holmes or Norton, for example.

I would not say they got "owned" as much as I would say, look at how fast people forget what they were thinking, how fast truth becomes blind, when something big happens all of a sudden. Tyson was shot, they saw it, so did most, but he still had some of that power that helped make him feared. People want to believe "He is Back", but the only thing "back" was our memories of a once great and promising Champion.

Yeah mega, Mike had a good trainer in the 80's and his focus was on his profession completely coming up. After he won the title, he slowly seemed to become a power puncher only, compared to having a duel threat with combos and power early in career. Life made him lose focus

Tyson's ability to pull out big shots like that to win fights he was losing was why he thought he wasn't past it later in his career, when from every other aspect he clearly was past it. Slow, no head movement, taking shots to make shots, no more three punch combinations. Very sad he didn't stop earlier, and that he didn't have someone to tell him to stop.

@AlexiusMoore, comaring their careers is relevant because it shows that every time Tyson faced a top Heavyweight anywhere near their prime, he unfolded badly and got beaten. Ali being 'knocked senseless' by Cooper was complacency and coasting so he could make his 5th round prediction come true. But if we're going on head to head, Ali had all the things Tyson struggled against in abundance; great jab, superb chin, height, unshakable self belief and could rough it up when he had to.
